The Portuguese people were WONDERFUL, islands were beautiful and exotic - like a time machine experience in many ways. For years it was the Air Force 's "Best kept secret"... and I don't know of anyone stationed there who wouldn't agree!

Portugal is by far, the country that has the most diverse landscapes in the world, taking in account it's size.
@Portus Cale Yes! Maybe that's why in the past this land had so many people here trying to conquer it.
On average spanish people probably know the least about Portugal here in Europe. Probably because you assume it must be very similar. It is in someways, but not in others.
2018 Lisbon, 2019 Porto... I never fell in love more quickly with a city like when visiting those 2 beauties.
Visiting the Jardim do Passeio Alegre (e.g.) and then sitting on the coastal wall, hearing the sound of the Atlantic Ocean and feeling the sprays of water on my skin just felt like real freedom...
I can't wait to visit my heart's 2 "second homes", again.
