Good scoring analysis, hard to argue with it maybe a few 5s and more 6s, Richie Leahy missed in the middle for KK but Waterford very deserving. Level of professionalism extraordinary in hurling, hard to see teams winning doubles or more anymore as the gaps between teams very small.
That was the worst I’ve seen Murphy play in goal for Kilkenny 6 at best. No chance with either goal but got dispossessed and gave away some bad ball a few times very unlike him
While massive credit is due to Waterford, it has to go down as one of Kilkenny's worst performances in years. I think there are about 4 lads who merit 7 or above. Also room for a couple of 3s and 4s there. Hurling analysis from all quarters seems to be a bit too generous and mix up the 1 to 10 rating with a 5 to 10 rating :-)
The underage quality is not there, nor hasn't been for some time, no U21 title since 2008, minor 2015. kilkenny are still powered by the old guard from the 00s in tj reid, r hogan, colin Fennelly and at least 2 of those could call it a day at this stage.
@@mac6899 They still seem to be able to squeeze a lot out of mediocre players who might not do as well in other county systems, mainly due to the workrate they have them attain. There were some very tasty hurlers on display in the Kilkenny county championship, particularly the left corner forward from James Stephens. While Waterford were excellent for 40 minutes, I think if that game was played 10 times, Kilkenny would still come out on top more often than not. Some big names had really poor games today. I counted 1-9 that came directly from bad passes from one Kilkenny lad to another that were intercepted. In fairness to Waterford, if you took away TJ and if Waterford scored half of what they put wide, it would have been an awful trimming. Liam Cahill is the right man for Tipperary. As a Limerick man, I hope they never appoint him!
@@dtux1019 you are kidding yourself about kilkenny winning that game Waterford produced their worst half of the year in the first half and kilkenny got two goals that came from favourable breaks. Waterford on another day would have 14 or 15 points at half time Some really bad wides. Despite that , the moment Waterford stepped up to the standards they have set this year the just steamrolled kilkenny. Of the 20 players kilkenny used it looked like 7 or 8 of them couldn't hurl at that pace
It really was a game of two halves. Waterford were a bit jittery and nervous in the first half. They had the first few shots before kilkenny and all of them put wide. Austin Gleeson shot two wides one after the other and he scored the final point of the game. It just goes to show the difference between halves.
Deegan and the midfield was shocking!!!! Deegan too slow for intercounty, jus not good enough, and fogerty is just passed it, brown practically non existant, ppl might think im being harsh but im jus calling a spade a spade here, anyway, we will b back up the cats 🐅

Has to be the poorest second half performance from a kilkenny team since the Dublin game.
