In defense of Gravedigger, I was living in Lake Jackson, TX ('about an hour south of Houston) when the Oilers left town, and it was as he says. A local radio station had a "box drive" where people could bring boxes to help the Oilers pack their shit. Locals had an attitude of "don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you". I don't remember anyone supporting the Oilers as they left.
The thing that drove me nuts in the Packers-Bears game was that challenge required by Matt LeFleur. The fact that they called it a catch on the field, and then replay assist stepped in and and incorrectly called it incomplete is crazy. The whole point of replay assist is to make the calls more accurate, and they literally made it worse.

Actually a great analysis of the Commanders game, sometimes they go down rabbit holes but this was really dialed in on the team. They're overperfoming the talent of the roster but Daniels doesn't feel close to his ceiling yet so there's potential if other elements step up for him to author some real upsets.
I appreciate assessments that the Lions didn’t make any flashy trick plays on offence but I’m kinda counting them drawing the Vikings offside on 4th and short to get a first down one - brilliance! 🇦🇺
I just don’t see it with Detroit - another team either in the NFCCG or SB is going to have to play bad for them to win. Their QB is Goff, I just see him imploding
Hold up. You can't give Vikings credit for nearly getting a pick but ignore the Za'Darius Smith near interception. Also the other lineman pick was pretty lucky, Sonic was wide open on that screen. Let's not play the "what if" game.
I don’t think KC thought about the Bengals at all when resting their starters. The Bengals beat 6 teams with top 10 picks, the Cooper Rush Cowboys, and the 2 lowest AFC playoff teams. Not to mention they wouldn’t even see them until the conference championship, which would mean they would have knocked out the Ravens or Bills on the way
@@eddiewinehosen6665 it was backups with not much to play for against one of the best defenses in the league with everything on the line. its not that surprising.

As an English football fan, I never understood why people were so critical of Mayo for calling his team soft. Maybe in soccer there's more of an understanding that everything a coach says to the media should be used psychologicallly either on your own players, your opponents, rivals, referees etc. Calling your own team soft would be a classic, obvious example of playing the bad guy, challenging your own players to prove you wrong by hitting them where it hurts. And didn't the Pats actually win their next game after that? Didn't seem like some big no-no on his part to me
@@paulmayer8654 sure, if you take what he said at face value. I just mean I assumed that what he said was an effort at psychological manipulation. But maybe that's only a soccer thing

Jourdan told a beautiful and emotional story last week in defense of Sequon resting for the playoffs. Sequon resting or Sequon starting both made sense to me. But after watching fragments of the games yesterday, I really think he should've played for that record. It would've been worth the risk. Marc was right. It would've meant something larger for the Eagles that could never be taken away. Nowthey have to win the Super Bowl, which they mightvedone anywqy, or the season is pppbbblllttt.
They moved on from Belichick because he lost it. He couldn't draft, couldn't sign, wouldn't speak with his other coaches, hated his young QB because he wanted to know why they did things even tho he's a coach who always talked about wanting players to know why they were doing things. It wasn't to hire Mayo, it was to fire Bill.
Burrow has missed the playoffs 3 times. Mahomes has missed the Super Bowl 2 times. Why is it not common knowledge that the Bengals do not beat the Chiefs anymore. Cool 2 victories 3 years ago, can we stop pretending those matter now?
True. Those Bengals teams were much more talented. Now it's just Burrow and Chase and Trey Hendrickson. Burrow losing the Super Bowl to the Rams ruined his chance of being a Mahomes rival in any serious context
"The Detroit Lions 15-2." 4th in points scored for a season in NFL history while being one of 2 teams this season to put up at least 30 points on the Vikings in 2024 and they did it twice. The only other team to do it was the Rams who played the Vikings after the first Lions game at home on a Thursday night game. Why doesn't Jared Goff get any MVP respect for what he has accomplished? Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees never got dissed as pocket passers not that long ago and won awards. I do not understand how the QB of the Lions with his team having the best story, best record, best TV ratings along with mind boggling record setting stats is not given a chance at winning the MVP for 2024, or for 2023 for that matter. Some bad bias at play here.
Who cares about season statistical records when the season is a game longer? The answer lies in the fact that MVP is a popularity contest. Clearly Mahomes deserves it again this year. He makes clutch plays feel routine and had the best record. But writers get tired of giving it to one guy over and over. Drew Brees was also never popular enough with sports writers to win an MVP. He could have retired with Super Bowl wins against Manning and Brady but the refs robbed him of that. It's gonna be hilarious when the Steelers beat Lamar and everyone will be questioning his MVP status.
Chiefs had three goals. 1. Rest the starters. 2. Minimize injuries. Don't put anything on tape. Spags didn't show any of his blitz packages. Ask yourself this. Would the Chiefs have played Mahomes to keep the Bengals out of the playoffs? The answer is obviously no.
Was still surprising to see them be stomped with 38-0. I thought the players would put up some fight, especially backups that might be playing for future starting spots, if not for Chiefs, on some other team.
Playing Mahomes to keep Bengals out would (I think) mean they were playing the Bengals to stop them getting in? Unless it's some bizarre permutation with same record scenario. I do wonder if they would have been happy getting smashed probably worse by the Bengals and then Bengals then getting into the playoffs. Thoughts?
