I would have liked to have heard an analysis of Bartleby. But thanks for the background.

I love that she does a sweeping set change right when the video ends. Where’s the next part? I’m fascinated.

I'm going to study Moby Dick this semester. You gave me great idea about Herman Melville' life background.

Thanks. This was great and helps make up for all the bad stuff on UA-cam.

My 2nd favorite Melville novel after Moby Dick is “Billy Budd”. I would love to hear you talk about that story and whether it was a success or not.

I read Moby Dick in high school in the 80s and it certainly changed my life. Great great novel, and hilarious too.

The video seems to be edited. It stops just before the actual analysis starts. Is it possible to watch that part somewhere else?
Please... I have read the story many times. I am extremely intrigued

When I discovered MD had humour I read, and then performed, Melville’s tale.

The 'cumbersome' stuff (in MD) is where the pure gold is. But you do need to tell yourself - THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG RIDE. PREPARE FOR IT. That being said, sit back, relax and read some of the most beautiful writing you are ever likely to hear.

Its so great that a video entitled Bartleby, the Scrivener, doesn't actually talk about Bartleby at all. Like a normal professor, lying about a title in order to get people to show up. I am not surprised by this at all, if they named their classes correctly no one would show up for their bull shit unless its required.

Well, people hate context if it's content they want. People hate content if it's context they want. Cool people like both. They're very rare. I'm glad I'm one of them.

People in the comments seem to have learned nothing from the lecture. All cups are full. Empty the cup. Even if it's a little. There's some insight here.

    Should've stuck to short stories.
