I respect what he is doing but performing kata like a perfect dance is NOT useful.. kata is NOT to be perfect but a study guide for application. It should be practiced honestly and without the pefect dance steps in mind but rather defense
I understand what your POV is, and I agree. However the students need to learn their forms, breaking it down like this often help; I always ensure that bunkai is never neglected and that the practical self defense applications of the form is covered and practiced as well.
