- Well hello!
Today I decided to go thrift shopping!
I hit up several thrift stores and the ONE thing tbey had in common...aggressive. Aggressive pricing!
This makes vintage shopping SO MUCH harder than it was.
What few pieces of vintage they have, it seems they are JUST as expensive as antique malls. And, sometimes even HIGER!
We were still able to find some vintage items however!
I hope you enjoy today's video!

Thrift stores are picked heavily now, I’ve been a thrifter my whole life based on my experiences, the reason antique malls are filled with things is because they are sourced from thrift stores and other sales methods. I’m not a reseller, I’m a life long thrifter because of necessity and also I appreciate the life choices of reusing items that still have a purpose rather than purchasing new things. I always try to find what I need second hand as a lifestyle. I will say that people need to donate the things that they no longer need in order for the system to thrive. Too many takers and not enough givers will result in a sparse thrift community
Well said
I have love and respect for everyone, I’m just seeing this situation from a different perspective ❤ much love to all
@@abiplaysx...Love from New Orleans
Awww, love from near Yosemite National Park, California. 🌸
To many resellers have ruined it so they raised the prices
A lot of people are in this game now. Shelves are bare and pricy. I do feel we are at this online peak. when our belts tighten, the new sellers will go away. They’ll also realize it isn’t easy. Things will balance. For now., you guys are working hard to find things!!!
The dangerous looking appliance is an electric roaster (like for turkey or ham). The bottom part is a storage cupboard.
My grandmother had one she used for large holiday gatherings.
The elf planter was the find of the day.🎉🎉❤
That Westinghouse piece isn't a washing machine, it's a roaster on top and storage on the bottom. My grandmother and my mother both had one.
Michael don't be afraid of that vase I've got your back. I bet everyone here has got your back (lol) the little pixie planter is really cute. I would not have left it behind either. Thanks for the take along. God Bless
The little green elf planter..! Oh my gosh.
Absolutely love the scores on the crochet quilts, butterfly ceramic tumblers. Yes, even our thrift and auction houses are being over picked and high priced hard goods. Still come across a few gems for resale! Totally dug your videos, thank you for sharing them! 😊
Michael you are so Much FUN ❤️ Love your laugh with the paper blew away!!!
I love how you promote buying what you like regardless of vintage or antiques. Even though we all love the vintage/antiques. 😉 Or how you suggest decor on a dime. So many cannot afford the real deal and I just think it's commendable you speak on it in your video's.
How could you leave that Smurf mug? It was so darling!!!
You are doing a great job. We enjoy your videos and company.
Michael you never let me down, while I do enjoy shopping with you, I love your clever quips. They definitely make me laugh😂
I loved the little elf planter. Displaying the chip on your shoulder seems like it’s practically a social requirement the past few years, so he’s very on trend.😂
He sure was cute…I’d love to have him.
I always check out the children’s sections, always hoping for that errant rubber-faced Rushton or My Toy. Not that it has ever happened, but like George Michael, I gotta have faith…
OMG I have the exact afghan that you showed first❤ It was a kit from the early 70's and I still have it❤
It was made by 2 wonderful older ladies❤
Liked the tiny animals Michael. Like you said, pickings are slim. Still fun to watch you, love your funny comments.
That thing in the window that you questioned if it was a washing machine….it’s a roaster on its own stand. My grandmother had one. It had a sheet that pulled out and listed temps and times for cooking foods in the roaster. When you let go, it retracted. There is storage underneath. I wished many times that I’d kept it myself. The elf planter reminds me of one I have, but mine says Treasure Craft. You said the books in Salvation Army rarely have value. My daughter once bought a paperback book that had a $50 bill in the pages.
The only time I was shocked to find $37 was when I purchased a pair of mens jeans for my son from the thrift store 💵Was in the front pocket of the jeans.
I bought a pair of the bottle bunnies off you last year!!! My mother in law loved them and put them up again this year!! 😂
the little green planter is cute. as least you found something
The Smurf mug🥰
You make me lol with your narrative. Thanks
I agree with you,the best deals are from the estate sales.
My fave was the psycho bunny, 2nd store @ 9:30-45. 🐰
I remember when Jocelyn and Sue went to the Community Aid Thrift Store once a week. They were really rude to them. Down right mean. They ended up running them off from shopping. I do love the afghans you bought.
I also agree regarding the prices at thrift stores. A bit high. Estate sales have been great lately. A few around my area seem to go with what the asking price is on eBay and I see those items not moving. But, I have found some great deals the past three weekends.
I went to two goodwills that were like 3 miles apart... one was AMAZING and the other one empty and overpriced. And such a small world! I found those owls in green at a garage sale recently. Love your taste!
Anything with the “Greenbrier” sticker (that green vase at the end) is from Dollar Tree. I actually have that vase in my living room because it does “go with” so well.
I agree, anytime you see that Greenbrier International sticker it's from the Dollar Tree store.
Beautiful afghans 😊❤
The afghan with the muted colors….love it!
Should have picked up the Smurf mug. I loved the Smurfs.
That metal bunny..'what is wrong with that thing, it's rabid'😅
That thing you thought was a washer was a Westinghouse roaster on its stand!
Just thinking the little Angel in the bell could be taken apart to craft with by you. Bell as a little cloche assemblage and angel tucked in a wreath.
Michael...can I post pictures in your comment section? I got that cannister set for my coffee bar I made for my kitchen & it turned out so cute! I'd like to show which pieces I got & how I put them to use. I went to every antique store in my area looking for yellow cannisters & these were what I finally found. Not the bright yellow I envisioned but works nicely in my set up.
I love afghans and quilts, those are steels. I love boho style.
I love Holly Hobbie
You are having a staking vase!
Spotted 2 l blue and gold luster lamps!
I was yelling at my screan!
Those deer are so cute!
I love vintage babyclothing. Hard to find vintage clothing in my size.
Thank you for sharing , hugs X
Hi Michael.....sorry such sad shopping....really liked the afghans.....
I agree. I used to LOVE thrifting but these days it takes sooo much time to find great items. Sign of the times, I guess. I have found some great things at antique malls. And more fun to shop.
Missed the Houze trinket tray in the last place. Not super valuable but vintage and usually amusing.
Beautiful afgans reminds me of the ones my mom used to crochet.
🫨 litter bug, so naughty lol. another fun video! Thank you Michael
Ya it's become a very difficult treasure hunt,,I still love it, tho 😊😊thanks for the video ❤
And Sylvia we love both of you Michael you make us laugh thanks for video xx❤
There's always those days !
Enjoyed the video love the little minis
Ty, I got to shop with you...I appreciate you looking for the best for us...❤
Cali Crowns pixie is Millesan Drews, dont know what year tho
All the thrift stores in my area are priced crazy high so I went to some garage sales today. Guess what!!!? EVEN GARAGE SALES ARE AGGRESSIVE NOW.
The afghans were my fav of the day. So pretty. Can't believe the prices at thrift stores. No room for profit for resellers.
Breaks my heart to see some of the overpriced stuff sit for so long that it gets damaged and ruined.
Saw some way overpriced sterling earrings at Savers, the other day.
I went to T. J. Maxx with my sister and got brand new sterling silver earrings, at a better price.
I think that was an original Xavier Roberts Bunnybee. I have one
You should have gotten the Smurf mug.
Lol rabid rabbit.. spewed coffee ha ha
I can’t imagine all these full-time resellers trying to make a living by finding items cheap at Goodwill, antique malls, wherever and sell them to make profit. It sounds exhausting. I can’t understand why anyone would pay $20 for something knowingly someone pay $3. I no longer shop at Goodwills and other thrift stores - prices are too high! I remember years ago; I could buy great items at Goodwill and pay almost nothing for them. Unfortunately those days are gone. Nowadays, their merchandise is just cheap stuff or damaged. Why do these thrift stores trying to sell broken/damaged items at retail prices? Anyway, good luck to all resellers.
I find the best deals at thrift store goodwill has its own auction build i mean they own it uss the saling on libe as clearance its gets worse they throw the good stuff away if they cant get what they wont ,some goowills are good 🎉
The Holly Hobbie glasses and Doll and Cabbage Patch Bunny would have been good if you collected and kept them but not great for resale for your market or clientele on youtube sales, I know as someone on facebook groups for 80's 90's toys Those types of items would sell wonderful with a little profit.
A lot of these thrift stores hold back the good items and then auction them off on their websites…so when people comment that resellers are taking all the good items, that’s a misled assumption the thrift stores just let happen…it’s actually the greed within the thrift stores
Thrift stores seem to forget that their inventory was given to them for free. Sure they have staff to pay, but imagine owning a business where your product is literally handed to you at no cost. Greed is the downfall of many organizations. Chin up Michael, it will get better.
Try thrifting in Oklahoma City!
I hate seeing the obvious ftd/1 800 get flowers vases...we already have them
Why buy them them thifting 😂
Go, pick up that paper, you litterbug!
Dry clean your afgans guys!!
I had to go do taxes
👍❤😅
That machine u thought was a washing machine was is an old sterilizer- dental office probably- my late Dad was a dentist and had one- “pre autoclave” days!!! No thanks- who would want that?
A water boiler- I forgot to say!
Sorry, but I believe that is a Westinghouse electric roaster on it’s cabinet. My mom and grandmother each had one.
I SENT AN EMAIL. DID YOU GET IT ?
Old video.
