How to Make Popcorn on the Stove

  • RECIPE:
    3 Tablespoons oil
    1/3 cup Orville Redenbacher's, or 1/2 cup any other popcorn
    2 Tablespoons butter, or to taste. Too much butter will make your popcorn soggy, and may lead to cholesterol problems.
    salt
    garlic powder
    Heat your oil over medium high heat until shimmery.
    Add your popcorn, put on the lid.
    Shake popcorn to make an even layer.
    Vent your lid just enough so steam can escape, but popcorn cannot.
    When popcorn starts to pop, give an intermittent shake to keep unpopped kernels at the bottom.
    When popping starts to slow, dump popcorn into bowl.
    Turn down the heat to low. Wipe your popcorn pan out with a paper towel.
    Melt your butter.
    While your butter is melting, add the barest smidge of garlic powder.
    Do not burn your butter. When it is melted, drizzle some over the popcorn.
    Stir. I like to use a rubber scraper. Add the rest of the butter. Stir again.
    Enjoy. Or not. There's no law.
