This is my daughter Laurie’s and my favorite Filipino dish, so watching u cook this dish had me reeling with excitement as I’ve never seen this version…the version I grew up cooking is: Beef short ribs Sliced onions Chopped tomatoes Small baby taro Fresh lemons or calamansi (fresh) With lots of water to tenderize (Cooked for 1 hr. Or as long as it takes to make sure the meat is cooked and tender. Oh and lots of delicious patis (haha, I think it’s funny how ur hubby hates the smell). For the last 5 minutes of cooking, I put a yellow chili 🌶 pepper (haha, Thts a red pic 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️). For veggies: Japanese Diakon radish Green string beans Baby bokchoy….I try to never include ANY kind of MSG if I can avoid it…anyway Thts my version…I hope to try ur version the next time I make sinegang. This Lola adds 1-2 green long peppers to make it a bit spicy especially when I cook with shrimp or salmon belly sinigang. Also, I add ginger slices when using shrimp or fish.
I follow my Lola's sinigang no gisa and uses hugas bigas. You're right, kanya kanyang technique yan eh. Beef sinigang medyo matagal lutiin. Chicken is for sinampalukan, fish sinigang usually uses bangus and bayabas for pampa asim and of course shrimp sinigang the best for me.

A lot of Koreans say Sinigang usually grows on them as time pass by. 😊 Yes, you can use beef, fish (any white fish, also salmon), shrimp, sometimes chicken will do too. You can use Tamarind and Tomatoes for meat-based and shrimp sinigang for sourness. Same for fish but a lot would also recommend to use Kamias, Guava,, Santol, and Miso. I just learned to eat soupy dishes because the color is so pale and realized green beans gives the dish an awesome flavor . I make sure I put lots of chilies or hot peppers also, yum! You’re doing good in cooking, they love it 👍💯. . I always have to accompany it with fried pork, chicken, or fish. Now I’m hungry at 2:30 in the morning, 🤣

Hi, Jovelyn! You may also try to cook 'Sinampalukang manok'. Let your family have a taste of it since they like sinigang na baboy. I think this dish is from Nueva Ecija. Ingredients: Garlic, minced Onion, sliced Ginger, sliced in strips Choiced cut chicken Knorr sinigang/tamarind mix Knorr chicken cube ( optional) Fish sauce Ground white pepper Green chili Dahon sili Direction: Saute garlic, onion, ginger. Add the chicken. Add fish sauce and ground pepper. Let simmer over low to medium heat till chicken is cooked. Add water as desired. Add the knorr sinigang/tamarind mix according to how sour you want it. You may also add knorr chicken cube to enhanced taste (optional). Let it boil. Add chili leaves and green chili. Adjust seasoning according to your taste. Serve with freshly cooked rice and patis with sili as sawsawan. Hope you'll like it. Enjoy eating. ❤ P.S. You may also cook for them sinigang na isda sa miso.
Sinigang na Hipon will always be my favorite 🥲💜 Other sinigang versions are good. But shrimp is the best 😁 My mom used to cook sinigang sa miso (but i dont quite understand the taste😅), and my workplace sometimes serves us sinigang with salmon belly and salmon head. 👍
I do agree with that shrimp sinigang is the best because it's my fave it taste better if you add enoki mushroom with radish, string beans okra, water spinach and eggplant. Salmon head or belly with miso also the best, at it without rice is okay too.

Da best ang beef na buto buto na pangsigang. Samahan ng gabi ,sitaw, labanos at kangkong or kung walang kangkong, talbos ng kamote or yam ang isama. You can add okra too dahil okra at gabi ay nagpapalapot ng sabaw. Ang style namin ay Di ginigisa ang sinigang at Di gumagamit ng kawali dahil kaldero ang gamit namin.

Ate pede beef, shrimp at isda po sa sinigang. Pede din chicken, tawag sinampalukang manok. Ang nagpapa-asim sa sinigang ay un sampaloc or tamarind powder. Pede din kamatis tawag naman doon ay kinamatisang baboy.
On my own style of cooking every time na nag gigisa ako I'm using natural oil ng meat na igigisa ko, kasi any kind of meats like pork or chicken sobrang taba ng mga yan. Need mo lang i separate ung mga taba then you have to fry it well para lumabas ung natural oil at un ung panggigisa mo, any dish na ginigisa Adobo or kahit ano. Kasi kung mag a add kapa ng oil sa pan or pot grabeng oily na po un, Isipin mo ung inadd mo na oil then ung natural oil ng meat haha highblood at high cholesterol na abot mo tas araw araw na ganun 😅 on my own perspective lang naman. Para mas healthy lifestyle narin lalo sa mga mahilig mag gisa diyan! I hope this simple opinion make help and sense. Peace yoow! Pa subscribe narin 😁 just kidding!

My kids are Pinoy/Japanese and they never used to like sinigang. But now, it's their comfort food! It is an acquired taste therefore first timers don't usually like the tangy taste. But once they tried it a few times, they will learn to like it. And yes, you can do Beef Sinigang. I usually use the Beef Neck to add taste to the broth. I really enjoy your videos to see how you introduce your husband and his brother to Filipino cuisine.
Chili is good to add para May bite Ang sinigang and you can use either beef, pork or fish. Adding some shrimp also gives it a good taste. Experiment on it. But it’s good any which way. Salamat for sharing your recipe. It’s good. Good luck by the way. (Sili or chili powder can work.)

Da best ang beef na buto buto na pangsigang. Samahan ng gabi ,sitaw, labanos at kangkong or kung walang kangkong, talbos ng kamote or yam ang isama. You can add okra too dahil okra at gabi ay nagpapalapot ng sabaw. Ang style namin ay Di ginigisa ang sinigang at Di gumagamit ng kawali dahil kaldero ang gamit namin.

Ate pede beef, shrimp at isda po sa sinigang. Pede din chicken, tawag sinampalukang manok. Ang nagpapa-asim sa sinigang ay un sampaloc or tamarind powder. Pede din kamatis tawag naman doon ay kinamatisang baboy.
Aside from what you did, I personally would add sili, patis, and bok choy.

On my own style of cooking every time na nag gigisa ako I'm using natural oil ng meat na igigisa ko, kasi any kind of meats like pork or chicken sobrang taba ng mga yan. Need mo lang i separate ung mga taba then you have to fry it well para lumabas ung natural oil at un ung panggigisa mo, any dish na ginigisa Adobo or kahit ano. Kasi kung mag a add kapa ng oil sa pan or pot grabeng oily na po un, Isipin mo ung inadd mo na oil then ung natural oil ng meat haha highblood at high cholesterol na abot mo tas araw araw na ganun 😅 on my own perspective lang naman. Para mas healthy lifestyle narin lalo sa mga mahilig mag gisa diyan! I hope this simple opinion make help and sense. Peace yoow! Pa subscribe narin 😁 just kidding!

My kids are Pinoy/Japanese and they never used to like sinigang. But now, it's their comfort food! It is an acquired taste therefore first timers don't usually like the tangy taste. But once they tried it a few times, they will learn to like it. And yes, you can do Beef Sinigang. I usually use the Beef Neck to add taste to the broth. I really enjoy your videos to see how you introduce your husband and his brother to Filipino cuisine.

Chili is good to add para May bite Ang sinigang and you can use either beef, pork or fish. Adding some shrimp also gives it a good taste. Experiment on it. But it’s good any which way. Salamat for sharing your recipe. It’s good. Good luck by the way. (Sili or chili powder can work.)
