- Introducing Sandcraft's steering rack stabilizer! They claim that it alleviates 100% of the stress from your rack and pinion. made from billet aluminum and hardened steel, this thing is beautiful as it is strong. We plan to put it through the paces and we will let you know if this is the steering solution!
On the list. I was sad thinking i was to the end of what i could do to my rzr and still use it for the things i need it for. Amd with all the miss info on portals that says it makes a machine only work for rocks and mud as i do lots of trails and use it as a short distance car on paved roads. But i found your videos and now i am working on saving up for portals next year and hope for 35s after that.
That is awesome man, keep us posted and reach out anytime!
I've got mine installed on my RZR. See what it feels like rock crawling tomorrow. I went to a Bumper mounted wench. It just gives me more room to work on things like the front differential.
Awesome Tobby! Keep us posted what you think!
I like the bumper mounted winch too. I run a Warn 9rc on a Rough Stuff front bumper. **SOLID**.
Sandcraft must be reading my mind. This area always had me very concerned. This is on the order list.
My *only* concern is the clearance to the front diff. With my HCR front A-arms I need to shim the front diff so it's mounted up about 1/2". This is so the front CVT boots don't get rubbed (and then spit grease or back off) by the A-arms at full suspension compression (like landing from a big highspeed jump)
I imagine the stock EPS cutouts might go away with this unit as well since it appears nearly all the extra force is absorbed by this module.
However, with the shaft design the force is being partially transferred to the opposing side of the rack as an outward force (presuming an impact on one side). With a big jump landing the force is coming in from both sides, and would be absorbed the the sliding rod material. Couldn't tell from the video, but the material selection for that shaft is kinda a big deal. It basically acts like a steering dampener proportionate to the elastic properties of that shaft material.
actually (tells you I've not been in school in a while...) the aluminum piece connecting the tie rod to the slider for this unit acts to absorb/transfer tie rod shock. *That* piece takes shock impact as a spring load and xfers the load to the sliding shaft.
some force will still be xfered to the rack, but a lot less that without. Perhaps less than 20% if I had to guess
Is there a update on this? Great idea. I have one on my dirt bike. It is super nice.
Yes we have launched several updates, anything in particular?
So 4 years later what's the update. Is this worth buying and are you still using the same rack and pinion you had 4 years ago.
What up Chris, so yes that rig is still running the sandcraft stabilizer and the same rack! Been great!
you ever make a video to let us know how well this worked?
We have made several over the years but in summary we are still running the stabilizer and same rack we installed this on back in 17’
Could you put a link up on how it performed? Can’t seem to find it
Pretty sweet !
Thanks you Hank!
Have you tried the shock therapy rack and pinion
Mine shipped today! Would you do a video of the winch plate mods?
Already in the works!
what did you do on the dynamix i have a 2018 dynamix and on the drivers side bent and it isn't changeable so i need to buy a steering rack what should i do your suggestion
Yes unfortunately you got to swap the rack out. Look at wicked bilt or satv rack boss. Shock therapy builds a nice unit but pricey
Will this work with super atv rack boss rack and pinion and have you had to replace a rack sense you've installed it? I'm just tired of replacing rack and pinions!
Jeffery Cleckler short answer yes. You either have to shorten the bolts that come with it or bolt or find shorter bolts. The bolt that needs modifying is just the one that hooks the stabilizer to the rack and pinion. Since we have been running these we have not had to replace a single rack!
Do they make this for the krx yet? I'm having to warranty my factory rack already after just 500 miles. Hope to find a better upgrade than factory.
I have a dumb question.... What happens when you break a rack and pinion?
Hopefully your not going very fast because it could be dangerous. When the rack breaks you loos and steering capabilities of your machine.
SlikRok Productions so when i hit wash board roads or bumps i feel/hear a loud clunk noise at the floor board of the rzr do you think it might be a steering rack?
I dont think that would be your rack. If it were your rack you would definitely know. Could be your frame, could be any of your suspension bolts or shock bolts. Make sure to give everything a good once over and make sure they are tight.
SlikRok Productions thanks ill give that a shot tonight thanks for the advice
Anytime, keep me posted what you find.
Are they going to offer it for a Defender?
Can I still run my z bros? I installed the rack boss less than 400 miles ago. Have some play now. Might be shot. 32” tires on 4” portals. SATV box a arms
Are they gonna start making these for the can am x3?
you prolly dont care but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the new series on instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last few months :)
@Dakari Jamari yea, I have been watching on instaflixxer for since december myself :)
Anyone else notice their steering has stiffened up considerably after installing the stabilizer?
We noticed it a little and realized the stabilizer was at a little bit of an angle creating a bind.
SlikRok Productions, good to know. I’ll check the install again. Thanks.
@@TheRealRenn Keep us posted!
@@jeffsellars5179 Just used a level and made sure the stabilizer wasn't of kilter.
