  • Dan Douthart uses the shop made threaded spindle jigs from the earlier video to make necklace pendants and finish them. The material he is using for the demonstration is Stratabond (plywood). It is frequently used for custom guitar necks and rifle stocks.
    Recorded and presented in HD.

    The double sided tape would hold the block for the first fixing, but it could get in the way and gum things up when parting off for reversing.

    These aren't just necklace pendants - they have a variety of purposes. They make great zipper pulls for sweaters and jackets, and can also be used a light pulls. The technique can also be used to make decorative buttons.
    Like the idea of a concave jig, and using a contour gage to determine the required shape.
    Can you use double-sided tape to do the first fixing rather than CA glue?

      I suppose that you could, but I never tried it. Try it an let me know how it works out.

    Dan, what is the tool called that you used to measure the contour?

    • @dandouthart633
      @dandouthart633 9 років тому

      Brian Worrell It is called a Contour Gauge. I bought that one several years ago at Highland Woodworking and have since seen what looks identical at Harbor Freight. The price on the one at Harbor Freight of $4.99 is less than half of what I paid for mine. The Harbor Freight item number is #907.
