Just rode past this place today, first time for many years. Used to drive past as a kid on the way to Morecambe. Brought back lots of memories. would be nice to stick a gopro on a bucket for a full round trip. they are much smaller than i thought they were. great job!
Fantastic work,my sadly departed boss spoke about an endless rope bucket set up in a local open cast or qaurry,in ffrith near wrexham,it was on very steep terrain in the ceidigog valley.
Brilliant! I've passed the brickworks many times when I was a kid on my way to Morecambe in the car with my parents. Always loved to see the buckets traveling on the cables whenever we passed that location. Was always cheesed off when the buckets weren't moving. Always wanted to know what happened at each end of the cable trip! Well done, and thanks for uploading this video.
This is a really interesting video. I have always known the brick works and ropeway existed (I used to travel the road past the works a lot) but not really any more than that: so this video filled a lot of gaps. A bit stunned at the end that “Chris Guy” had helped with the video!! I didn’t know I had a namesake from the same part of the world!!
Yes, well done, and well done Hanson for letting you film.( No I do not work for Hanson) A few years ago the brickworks was stacked out with finished bricks, and production had stopped, we may have lost the ropeway forever. Good to see the way it works, uniquely British, hope it continues. Of course it will always be Claughton brick. Thanks for the excellent video.
sky cam video As a a Liverpudlian, we used to come here 50 years ago, on our way to Ingleton, it was always good to see the ropeway in full operation. We have lost so much of our industrial heritage, time to record what little is left.
i wonder how many people have had a lift up the hill in one of those buckets? I have always wondered what went on when the buckets disappeared from view, thanks for posting
Now that was interesting, just needed a little longer 'hover' over the blue plaque at the end, as I found the short exposure too rapid to read it fully. I've often wondered what went on at either end, when passing beneath the road crossing. Also I hadn't realised it was purely gravity motivated. Brilliant idea.
Cheers for that Derek. Yeah the text at the end is very fast too. Just pause video. Lol. Lots of great comments from facebook on this video. I thought it was only me that didn't know how this worked. Mini documentary lol
Excellent video thank you....and your use of a drone camera certainly added interest to the film itself. The last aerial ropeway I remember working here in the south was a Burseldon Brickworks near Southampton where the special separate bridges to protect traffic on the M27 can be seen (right next to the National Air Traffic Control Centre). However, I think the brickworks closed before the M27 opened. The museum on the site is well worth a visit. Question: with the truly excellent video and the ambience of the industrial scene ....do you think the (albeit low level) music is required? I've subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your work. Rob.

I like to see such ropeways in action . In some cases they are more environment .- friendly than trains .
