So glad I found your site...I'm (very slowly finishing the cabin build. ..I wasn't thinking about how you made roads into forests so it's taken longer ..you"d think it would have occurred to me lol!) Yeah we're nearly finished and I want everything to be recycled or upcycled and to be off grid and reducing my carbon footprint. Your site addresses things I never thought of and so I subscribed as soom as I found the T shirt yarn post. I won't just be making cat beds but rugs and throws and extra warm covers. ..I'm off to explore your site...it's like Christmas finding stuff like you do!

    i have a random question.
i want to mix paper craft and soda can upcycling.
like making a robot , or a suit of armor.
I put some thought into it and think is't possible.
I was think i can replace glue with tabs & slot method.
but the issue i see is trying to the the cut the pattern out.
since the pattern has to fit in the small sheet. i'm scared 1) i'll mess up cutting the small detail. 2) so many odd shape the the shards will cut me easily.
so i want to know how i can make a custom punch or die.
...or if u have any suggestion for a better work around.

Ironbot, of course you always have to be careful when working with soda cans because of the shards....they can be quite painful. But you could check your local hardware store for a tight fitting pair of safety gloves to protect your hands while still being able to work with fine detail. A custom die would likely be quite expensive and I don't know how to go about making one, sorry! Maybe there are some stock punches that you could somehow combine to get the shape you're looking for???? As far as the small detail, have you considered using a utility knife and cutting board to cut with? I've not ever done this before so I'm not sure how well that would work, but please be careful if you do! Keep me posted, would love to see what you come up with!
