It was this very powerful, rich man's absolute ignorance around why victims, (usually women or children) don't come forward. That is around the abuse of power and control... So that's my opinion.. Idiots on social media are STILL accusing him of criminal conduct, even though the police have now twice determined that he is NOT. Your problem is that you seem either unable or unwilling to separate that fact from salacious conduct that he has engaged in, which could well cost him his job but was never a crime.

Harvey Proctor was on the show because he was a victim of false accusations of the same type of thing - like Cliff Richard and Matthew Kelly. All Huw Edwards wife said was he was the one that’s been accused and it’s made him ill. That doesn’t mean he’s guilty or that’s an admission of guilt nor is he is using depression as excuse or mitigating circumstances. The police have investigated and there is no evidence of a crime. Perhaps people should wait for the facts before they start the lynching. It the same when they assumed it was a gay guy and they were vilifying gays when Edwards is a straight man with 5 grown up children and who is a devout Christian who attends Church every Sunday with his wife and family. The 20 year old man says nothing went on - it’s something being pushed by his mother. Where’s your evidence that there is a crime? You should write your allegations against him in a formal letter including your name and address so if this is a pack of lies or at the very least no crime has been committed you can be sued. You too should be accountable for what you do and say but I’m guessing you want that for Edwards but not for yourself.

Please think about this case: How can the London Metropolitan Police and the Welsh Police just look at this case for a few hours or one day and conclude that no criminality has occured; especially when the Mother accused this presenter of receiving explicit pictures from when her son was seventeen years old, which is a crime in the U.K. Also, there are now four different cases or accusations leveled against Mr. Edward's directly from at least three victims. How can the police shut the investigation down without doing a proper investigation? Because the police are part of this problem not the solution, because they are part of the Elite who protect the Elite - whenever a Labour MP or any MP is accused, or any T.V. personality is accused, they are always so quick to drop the case - except, of course, Cliff Richard, who they accused falsely and colluded with the BBC. And later, the BBC were sued by Cliff, and the BBC had to pay out a huge sum of money paid for by the British taxpayers, since it is a public-paid state organisation; this confirms that both the BBC and the Metropolitan Police are institutionised compromised

Easy: talk to the person who makes the allegation. They claim to have evidence of a crime? OK, let the police see it. If it mysteriously disappears, there's nothing to investigate (and, just as an aside, the door is then open for the accused to sue for defamation).

The BBC's own policing to investigate its employees for acts of criminality, is rather a department to cover up their employees criminal activities and protect the establishment.
If they find out one of their presenters has been arrested for saying causing death whilst drunk driving, they start looking for ways to minimise it, mental health issues, stress, uncle abroad who they've not seen in 20 years but worshipped suddenly died.
Anything to try to excuse, justify it, possibly even hoping the person killed had some criminal record themselves for drug possession, so when the story breaks its a junkie gets killed crossing the road, so the public assume he was high on drugs and walked infront of the vehicle..
Then the drunk issue, likely took to much medication for his depression or drink was spiked and the crime was reported to the police who are investigating this, but you'll never here the outcome of this.
So the bbc have done all that's possible to minimise the crime.

I disagree somewhat with the guest. As a 30 year police detective, the organization should have immediately turned over this investigation to the police. After the police conduct their investigation, the organization then is free to conduct an internal affairs investigation. There must be a group of individuals for the company who investigate complaints. The guest is correct that the organization is not the morality police, BUT if a leader in your organization is not upholding the spirit of the organization, then that person must be dealt with however the organization sees fit. If the public does not agree with how the organization handled the complaint, the public and media are free to criticize and bring to light the way the organization is ran from the top down. This is how rules and laws are established. We learn from mistakes, "hopefully."

    • @mfoco1

Isn't that pretty-much what the guest said? He said the BBC should not have its own *criminal* investigations squad, as that must be the job of the police. I don't think he meant that the org has no right to have a team handle internal affairs, just that the word "criminal" has no business being in their job-titles.

Everyone sees the faults of others, no one their own. No one seems to have heard, or understood, the words “let him first cast a stone”.
“But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So, when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” - John.8.7.
