My mom and i bought the bare necessities palette along with 2 smaller empty magnetic palettes so that we could split the shades between us. I plan to cut out the center panel of the mega palette and repurpose it as a big empty magnetic palette!!

This is the third affordable makeup video I’ve gotten this week and I’m loving it. It’s pretty appalling what some of these high-end brands are asking for a single product, and DS is often either just as good or better. Depending on the brand, you can get an almost full-face from a drugstore brand for the price of one high-end product. Moira has great products - and yes, that includes eyeshadow.
the Milani primer and the NYX powder are the only eyeshadow primer and powder that I use! no need to buy and try anything else bc it’s not going to get any better 😁

the cost of living has skyrocketed so much and makeup prices have risen as well (even at the drugstore), and i appreciate this video very much!!! i love great quality makeup, especially when it’s from the drugstore. moira’s lip products are amazing and i hope you try some of their toppers and liquid shadows sometime. i love hard candy and i’m definitely going to pick up that liquid shadow. the l’oréal liquid blushes and highlighter are in my ulta cart as we speak. milani makes some great products as well. i hope you make more videos like this one because times are tough. 💖💖💖

I personally appreciate how you don't say the word 'dupe' constantly 😂 (It's one of those words that sounds more and more silly the more you say it) and that you just evaluate products on their own, for what they are, only mentioning 'dupe' when it's more of a rampant trend or complete copycat situation. I love Jen Phelps, she's one of only a handful of creators I watch (including you) and I know her story is that she was looking for great products similar to expensive ones when she was a bit more broke in her younger days. But even I once commented on her videos, can we stop ranking everything on the scale of 'how much of a dupe is this' against other products and just evaluate them on their own stand alone merit? She replied back that dupe culture was becoming tiresome. There's definitely a balance of assessing copycats and trends and just pitting products against each other all the time.
I have not liked the L'Oreal true match concealer on my 48 yr old under eyes. I think if you have wrinkles under your eyes it doesn't look great. It might be ok with fine lines only. 😬 I watched a review on concealers for us older ladies and someone suggested Catrice 18 hour and it works super well for those wrinkles lol. So does winky lux concealer and the nyx serum concealer ( for more light-med coverage). Those are currently my fave drugstore concealers for wrinkly under eyes.

My makeup stash never had so many drugstore products like today - granted when I started my makeup hoarding, 20 + years ago, drugstore brands were barely a mirage in my country and quality was very close to being $hit - I mostly spend my money on skincare and when it comes to pricier makeup I still go for a concealer or primer and maybe a foundation...I do love a bougie lipstick though... 😊

I LOVE this video series(?) and I LOVE your winged liner! I got really good at winged liner, especially as I got more into retro looks, ruled the 2016-9 era, then just hung on and waited for it to come back around again lol. My face just really suits winged liner and as much as I want to also love a soft, undefined eye, it just will never hit quite as nice.

I have a chocolate brown suit with a mocca pinstripe (jacket and trousers, it had skirt and vest, but I only bought the 2 pieces), I bought it for job interviews before I had children, my eldest is 32...so it must be at least 35yrs old, and these suits are now all in fashion again, so I pulled it out, it still fits, even the shirt I bought to go with it 😂😂😂😂 my daughter said, 'you can't wear that!!', and I said, you just show me the difference anyone is going to notice, between mine, and the one in the store!! There really wasn't any...😂😂😂

Didn't turn into "skin porridge" but didn't last and the O/S makes EVERYTHING last for me. I have been watching you for a few years and you got me to try (and really appreciate) Indie brands and colorful eyeshadow! I also adore your brushes and am so happy for your success!!!

Finding something cute at Monki when I was in Europe was such a great day! So much was so vibrant and big patterns, just what I love in clothes. My favorite sweater (orange and white stripes, balloon sleeve) bled color in the wash though! 😭

I’m more of a mix of an indie and drugstore gal, and when new products come out from certain brands, I proceed with caution because maybe those specific brands have a hits and misses…or the dreaded “meh…it’s ok” quality. You’re about the only creator I’d fully trust with these kinds of videos!
Hi Angie! Oh you just said what I thought! Drugstore products are amazing. I went shopping to the drugstore because I cannot afford Sephora right now and bought 6 products for 60$. I enjoyed so much: instead of thinking what is priority to buy at Sephora I was able to buy everything needed and have fun. The end result: found my holy grail - primer - wet’n‘wild impossible primer, the texture is so unique, nothing is like this primer. I switched my makeup routine to all drugstore now and it will stay that way!!!!! You are so on point, drugstore is not only a substitute to Sephora, it is so much more than that.
I have a bunch of favourite clothes that are super old but I am really impressed at how well you maintain the older clothing, for me the older ones sort of fade. Do you have any tips to share?
I only wash if they have a stain or smell bad. Otherwise I just air it out. And I wash on low temp :)

Wow. I really loved this eyelook! I think i can recreat it with my pretty old Soft Glam palette! It has a reddish brown, an orange and pink shimmer and glitter!
If you like a serum-like concealer, I'm a big fan of the Loreal Age Perfect one. Also, for the other pale desaturated folks out there, their lightest shade is a satisfying grey-leaning neutral.
If you want a light, but buildable coverage, the Nyx Bare with me concealer serum is great! I dont even need to powder it. Shade vanilla is slightly peach, good for blueness, and shade light is also good. I'm an Mac NC15, aka very desaturated pale person 😊

I love videos like this. I've been so into high end makeup lately I forget about all the great drugstore stuff. I'd love to see a review on more obscure brand (i.e. Moria) or Korean brands. It's overwhelming when I try to look into myself. I never know what's good and what isn't lol.

When creme & liquid face products made a big comeback, I wasn't sure if I'd like them or not.( I had bad memories of creme/liquid products from the past when my skin was oilier & the formulas were less elegant) I started by trying drugstore that had good reviews just to dip my toe in before committing to something higher end. Well, I found drugstore cream blushes/bronzers that I was really happy with. The colors & textures were perfect & easy to work with. I never did bother trying anything more expensive because why pay more? Milani & Elf have been fave creme blushes/bronzers. Haven't really found a liquid blush I love yet. I think that's more of an opacity thing since I dislike a shiny face & hate most shimmery blushes. I prefer to add targeted reflectiveness with a highlighter or blush topper.
Yes, I love this kind of video. I don't care about dupes; I'm actually pretty sick of deliberate dupes. Some great drugstore makeup I've been using: Nyx lift & snatch eyebrow tint pen, the Neutrogena serum foundation (very very extremely dry skin here, so not sure how it would work for normal to oily skin), and the Moira Loveheat cream blush
I love to spread the L’Oreal concealer and then do my eyebrows, come back and then use a slanted, dense concealer brush to blend it out. That’s my favourite concealer that I have at the moment. I tap it on the spread it with the back of my brush. It’s really nice that they have my colour too because most drugstore brands do not carry my fair olive skin tone. That I think is my biggest gripe with more affordable products and really high-end products. They can never get neutral fair, neutral deep or warm deep, warm fair that is not straight up Yellow or red 😞

I use an eye serum or cream and blend it out. My LYS concealer was so drying it sat there having a mirage or temporary insanity. I had the idea of the cream or serum, and it was beautiful. I am using Iconic London and it is so nice and creamy. It was a game changer for me. 😅😊❤
I'm obsessed with the L'oreal liquid blush in the shade Dewy Worth It. It's beautiful. New favorite. I don't use much else.

I think if I had to pick one favorite product from the drugstore, it would be the Revlon bullet lipsticks in the black and gold packaging. I’ve tried tons of different lipsticks over the years and I’ve never found another formula that feels and wears quite like the Revlon ones do. They’re comfortable and moisturizing without feeling sticky or thick, you can build them up or sheer them out, they wear down gracefully, and they come in tons of colors.

That thing about the cream bronzer you said: when the milani came out everyone one was like “ITS A DUPE FOR MAKEUP BY MARIO” like they dont even have the same finish or type of preformance. Or the elf camo liquid blush. “ITS A RARE BEAUTY DUPE!” like no it just happens to be a liquid blush and they have different pigmentation and performance and Imo its better than rare beauty in every way. sick of how because a product is a similar skew it’s automatically a dupe even when the performance and finish and formula are in every way different

Ok so I tried that Milani eye primer after you first recommended it... LIFE CHANGING. I love that one so so so sooo much! I recommend it to all my friends, including friends who are just starting out in makeup. It's so nice to be able to recommend incredible products that are cheaper so they can ease into the makeup craze, or just have bomb makeup on a budget! I've given it as gifts before too because I just trust it that much. I'll have to try out some more of these recommendations sometime soon! :)
So I'm not one for cream products, but I believe you about the Milani bronzer. Their powder cheek products are my favorite, so it makes sense they'd be good at cream products, too. 😊

I used to use the Milani eye primer for a long time and loved it! But then I noticed my skin becoming more oily, which included my eyelids, since moving to a more humid climate. I now use the Devinah Specular eye primer and it is wonderful!
Moira lip liner in rose beige is one of my all time favorites! Lasts almost as long as CT!

I know this isn't drugstore, but affordable... I've seen glamlite palettes for like $10-15 at TJMaxx or Marshall's and it's 100% a steal at that price. Their formula is so good

Moira has amazing potted eyeshadows! They are called Starshow Shadow Pots and there are few duocromes as well. 🤩 About lashes; I'm not sure if W7 is available in America, but they make amazing faux silk lashes. 🤩

YES that is my holy grail liquid eyeliner! I use the Physician’s Formula waterproof one like every day of my life. So excited to see someone talk about it again! I’ll have to check out the brow gel. This was a great video, and congrats on the vitamin sponsorship! I’m pretty sure a scientifically backed multivitamin that has good ingredients is PERFECTLY in line with your values. If you were shilling one of those coochie vitamins or weight loss supplements or something, then maybe I’d raise an eyebrow lmao 😂 this was such a great video! I loved this one. As much as I love indie makeup, I’m a beginner MUA and need all the affordable makeup options I can get! I’ll be checking out that Loreal highlighter too, it was GORGEOUS on you! I tried the Milani bronzer per your review and its the first cream bronzer I hit pan on. I like their cream blush as well. Also love the NYX powder per your review lol. For Moira I have two of their Beauty Quest palettes and they are great. Very pigmented. I looked up reviews and most say their formula changes alot. Some good some bad. Most of their newer palettes with themes seem to have the good formula. Love letters, board game and travel theme I think. I'm going to try the skin tinted soon as I'm done with my Fenty ez drop stick. Thx for the vid! I LOVE your reviews ❤
