The Dress was bought from Airvy Atelier based in Nigeria. Their work was exquisite, it was just the sizing that was off. I always encourage fitting especially for custom pieces, but it was what it was.

I cannot imagine ordering a dress from oversees and having only 10 days until the wedding. Are people insane? Do they not understand that if you’re not there in person the odds of a perfect fit right off the bat is small? Your clients stress me out! lol. But you work actual
miracles, ma’am! I am in absolute awe. I hope you price your work accordingly because for many of these clients you are their literal last chance.
Getting dresses custom made can be a lot cheaper overseas but yeah I wouldn't risk this. Too many horror stories.
Not only emergency alterations but the possibility of not getting the dress on time.
She probably got fat after ordering. I doubt the original high quality dress maker did anything wrong. People are unbelievable with their lack of self control 🤦🏾♀️
It was actually a screw up by The dress maker they got the sizes wrong and she got a full refund of the dress. @@vapor4
@@vapor4 Unless she ordered it over a year in advance, I can't see how someone can grow multiple sizes in such a short amount of time unless she did nothing but binge ate all day, but that's not usually the case for brides.
Over 40 years of alterations experience here. Sometimes, you can't match the fabric, so your best option is using fabric that coordinates or looks good with what you have.

Bodies are difficult to fit. I've made some custom wedding dresses. Doing them just from measurements and having them fit the actual body without fittings is quite difficult. I have done precise measurements on the person, drafted a custom pattern precisely to those measurements, and when I made the muslin and had a fitting, it was way off, and had to be adjusted quite a bit. There is something about the malleability of the human form that means that straight numbers don't always work. You did a beautiful job of altering this last minute to fit, especially given the limited materials available. Bridal satin is not easy to sew by hand. Takes an incredible amount of time. Well done!
I can understand exactly what you were saying. Measurements alone are not enough. However, at the same time you should realize that the dress can't go over the person's head and they need to get the smallest part up over their hips, which you should know from the measurements. It seems to me they could have made a far longer zipper or opening so the dress could have been gotten up over the hips. It seems like a design flaw.
@@Wisepati no sadly this client definitely gave incorrect measurements. That gap opening that had to be created to accommodate the fit opened down to her knees basically. No length zip would have made that work unfortunately. From the looks of it her measurements were off by about 20 to 30cm around the widest part of her hips.
Sadly I think the client may have given her a measurement that she thought she might be by the time the wedding came around as most brides are on weight loss journeys for their big day.
I think the reason the designer decided to refund though is because she should have kept in contact with the bride for regular updated measurements throughout the garment construction process to accommodate any weight loss or gain.
@@LilituCaprinae 20 to 30 cm (looks more like 30) is being widely optimistic on customer side about weight loss few months before wedding (thats when you usually order the dress). Once you get a looot bigger your bone structure gets a bit wider (it doesn't grow, just lay out itself wider, like the angle your hip bone and leg are at etc.) to accommodate to spread of the weight (same as when you are pregnant your ribs spread a bit different after). After that happens even if you will loose all of that weight you will never be the same shape as a skinny teenager (your bones will reverse quite a bit but never to original state).
Nevertheless amazing what this alteration seamstress did. There is possibility that if the designer refunded all the money maybe they have mistaken cm/inch at some point or something similar? Otherwise that would be really gracious refund policy on so labour intensive dress.
Even if the designer was checking with regular updates with the client 30cm more it is not something they would be able to adjust once they had cut the pattern on final fabric and already made all the beading mesh - thats serval sizes difference in direction from smaller to larger. They would not be able to make up for that not existing fabric. They would have to start all over again and would not made the dress on time anyways. One, two max tree dress sizes up on a beaded dress I can imagine being done, not 30cm! Probably now she only takes sizes as bride is at time of taking order and offers alterations to make it smaller when necessary, at least that way round one has some fabric to cut into.
Again you are every lady's fairy godmother when it comes to putting them in their dream dress . Great job.

I think people should always order 2 - 3 sizes bigger. That way, you'll fit it, and there's room for alterations. You did great! ❤
That was my thought.. always go up a few centimeters/inches and double check the international conversion sizes
That happened with my dress, but it came in too big to alter nicely. The supposed Empire waist hit too low, so even though they had to take in the dress, it was tight at the hips and didn’t hang right.
Except this dress was custom,which means it’s made to measure. Someone screwed up.
If people go up 2-3 sizes then every wedding dress would need to be altered.
So glad the designer refunded her money. I wonder if an error was made on the measurements.

That was intense, especially with the time crunch! I like the bedazzled ribbon, so that the ties weren't as extreme a contrast against all the beadwork. It does balance the white and off-white a little.
As for refunds ... I do agree that a partial refund was warranted, since, the bride did not get what she ordered. She physically could not put the dress on, which defeats the purpose of a garment. However, because of the labour and resources that go into making something, I almost never say "yes that should get a full refund". It was something that could still be fixed and used, thanks to you.
I do question the timing of it all, though - I wonder if there were shipping delays, or if she didn't order it soon enough, or whether the maker incorrectly estimated how much time it would take. Trying on a dress for the first time with less than two weeks until The Big Day sounds so risky!
You make some very valid points.
The dress is stunning. Your rescue design was perfect. Even though the crisscross isn’t tied evenly, with the rhinestones on the laces it draws the eye to the whole presentation from the back. Gorgeous.
You work miracles, and you really saved her wedding!
I just watched it all over again like I didn't see this story, but the amount of magic that went into helping her get down the aisle in that gorgeous dress got me again!

I still don’t understand how a custom made dress doesn’t fit 😢were the measurements that off?
Couple options: 1) she gained weight between the measurements being sent off and the wedding (could be pregnancy, could be regular weight gain) or 2) she lied on her measurements (maybe she put the measurements she wanted to be instead of what she was)
right XD although... majority of people probably don't know how to properly measure themselves

You are a Life Saver!!! That dress was so much I couldn’t even visualize it as a bridal gown. But once again Monde you set to work! I didn’t even notice the color difference or the way the ties were strung, especially with the veil. That dress❣️❣️❣️ She couldn’t have looked lovelier. 😍 The beautiful fit & detailing with the floaty ruffly skirt!!! She was able to achieve her vision but only with your help!

As long as the official wedding photos are from the fron only, it's all good! It is unfortunate that she was under such a time constraint right up until walking down the aisle. She got the dress on her body, nothing was hanging out and she and the dress are gorgeous. ✨️The beading✨️ is so beautiful.

I'm so happy to see this video! I've been feeling guilty about ordering a dress online that was made to fit the measurements I sent. A "hard to fit" friend used the company first and was thrilled to perform in the gown that fit her perfectly. I'm glad to know not all online custom dress companies are a scam. Many are, however.
These alterations are insane. How you have the vision to see the dress as it was intended, then correct the garment to perfectly fit the bride is sheer genius.
The first and last wedding dress I made (in my early years of sewing) was finished almost two months before the wedding day and a 20lb weight gain. I had no clue on how to fix it, so I just remade the dress.

I'm glad that she gave her a full refund and not a partial like you suggested. While her work was beautiful, the goal was to have a custom-made, WEARABLE wedding dress with little to no alterations needed. You literally did half the work to get it to be a wearable dress. You are a miracle worker. Had you not stepped in to see what could be done, she would've had no choice but to get a new dress and put the one she custom ordered on a mannequin. Nope. She definitely was due a full refund.
So because she clearly rushed, gave herself no time, and sent in the wrong measurements she should get a full refund? That was not an issue with the material just being too tight that dress was SIZES off. You are sizes off because you don't measure right. Hell the woman couldnt even do her dress up right on her own wedding day because yet again she has no grasp of time management.

Reading is fundamental and so is comprehension. Did you not read that the designer made mistakes in converting measurements? That’s why she received a full refund. The ASSumptions made by people who can’t think their way out of a paper bag are huge. A person is given the facts and put their own spin on the facts ( which can’t be done) with opinions, based on conjecture and assumptions. Critical thinking and reading comprehension is essential in life. ALWAYS

That dress is STUNNING 😍 my wedding dress was also custom made from overseas but my dress arrived 1 month before my wedding and I didn’t really need alterations after it arrived (thankfully). Like I could have gotten alterations because it was a bit loose on me but I just decided to stick with what I got and it was fine. But the work you did to fix it up for her in such a short amount of time was just insane! I can’t imagine the amount of panic and stress the poor bride went through! I wish more time could have been taken for the ties her wedding day, but the dress was altered in time for the wedding. I wonder if she should have chosen another style of dress, but her wedding dress was very beautiful.
As usual, you did a wonderful job! And I agreed the designer should have refunded the cost of the dress because if she couldn’t find someone to alter it, she would have needed to buy something else and would be a VERY dissatisfied customer. And a custom dress should fit perfectly.
