@@enriquejsalgado: Same here, although I'd like to have some more cameras in the comparison, especially the D7500, but also the D5600. There are not a lot of really useful comparisons between these sensors.
@@hansmeier5071 mm. Probably not needed. The D500 and D7500 should perform the same or extremely close to. The D5600 and D7200 uses a slightly better sensor, so will be slightly lower in noise. The Z50 should be slightly better than the D7500/D500 due to processing although they use the same sensor... To be honest though. I started with a D100, then D200, D80, D300s, D7200 and now am on the Z6. The noise performance increase in the generations were great, but all the cameras from the D5100/D7100/D750 performed closer to each other. Yes each new model is better but not by that much. So of you have a D5300/D5600/D7200 and want to improve noise performance, go full-frame. If you get a D750, it will be better, and the Z6 even slightly betterer ;) Anywhoo.. I hope my point is not to hidden in my midnight ramble :D Just fyi, O am very impressed with my Z6's at up to about ISO 16000. I quite often do bands with very little stage lights and the Z6 has opened up new doors for me.
Those Nikon APSC cameras may even be better than Canon Full Frames when it comes to noise. lol.
This is one of the last few genuine camera review channels, and for that I thank you. For photography, I agree with your general assessment. The Z6 is at least one full stop better, which should be surprising to no one. However, for video, IMO, the noise in the shadows starts to play a much larger role in the overall image quality. The Z6 is at least two full stops better in this comparison for video. The Z6 at 12800 looks a little better than the Z50 at 3200 as far as the noise in the shadows. This is not the end of the world. On moderate to fast glass, you will still have a ton of usable range with the Z50 in less than perfect lighting conditions.
Make up your mind. Is the Z6 one stop better or two stops better? The comparison for this video is the science that should tell you so whether it’s this video or someone else’s the conclusion or science should be the same if the tests were done properly with the exact same gear.

I would be interested in a comparison between Z50 and Z7 in DX crop mode.
Thats what I was thinking when he starting showing the side by sides. Either Z6 or Z7 in DX crop mode.
But honestly, is there any reason for anyone to use DX mode on the Z6?
@@BigBoss-gb4cx Ugh, yeah. If I could carry a whole bag of cameras bodies and lenses on my trips one for every occasion and situation, I would. But I cant. Crop mode on the Z6 is totally an option for me, and one that I use quite often. Looking back at the 25k or so snaps I have on my Z6, I would say out of the best 100 probably 1/3 were taken in crop mode. Perfectly fine printable images. 10-11MP is easily enough for up to 13x19 prints, IMO, with a little room for post cropping. Allows for plenty of post cropping for 8.5x11 prints and smaller. For video in crop mode, again, totally fine. In FX mode 4k post cropped vs DX mode 4k the results are so close you basically cannot tell the difference outside of some extreme situations that you may create just to see the differences.

The APS-C sensor in the Z50/Z30 is excellent with very good ISO performance for this sized sensor. Low light performance on these cameras is excellent.

Guys don't forget this test is on f/8, for example at f/1.4 full frame lens (for the Z50) and iso 6400 the image quality will be even better! Nice video you got a new sub!
A little bit late to the party, but I would like to mention one thing - it's not the sensor size that makes a difference, because Z6 sensor is cropped in this video. It's pixel size of the sensor. And for that one should compare z50 to z7 actually. But, as the real world doesn't actually care about this, comparison is still valid, so rhank you for that! 🎉

Nice presentation. It seems that the Z6 has about a 1 stop advantage over the Z50 as expected really. The Z50 images look similar to my D7500 images, I tend to stick to ISO 3200 and below if possible and the results are really nice.
Thank you for your Nikon reviews! I would be very interested in a image quality comparison with the kit lenses - Z 24-70 on Z6 vs. 16-50 on Z50. That would help to see how much the difference is and to decide if someone really "needs" full frame.
This is an excellent video. I did a similar test between the Nikon Z50 and the D750 and noticed similar results. The smaller sensor does have more noise at higher ISO levels, but the smaller sensor does really well for itself. At 1600 and below, it's really hard to tell the difference between the two.
Ricci are you going to do a Z50 review. Particularly how the AF system works.
The ISO 12,800 on the Z6 is amazing. I feel it's even better than ISO 6400 on my D810... I usually don't shoot past 6400, but wow, with the Z6 I definitely would. Thanks a lot for this test, it just confirms again that I will get the Z6 next year.

D800 is showing its age. I switched to A6500 and at ISO 6400 its similar to D800, and it's a much smaller system.
@@gordonyz4 It's not similar in any way. You don't have the same glass like I have for the D810, nor is the dynamic range same, and the D810 goes down to ISO 64. It's still a camera that can hold its own against a lot of new FF cameras. Also the ergonomics of the D810 are still one of the best out there, I would not be able to hold the A6500 for an extended shoot.
@@TaipeiGeek just saying ISO. Not saying about anything else. Using 6400 on APSC is problem free especially there are 2.8 zooms and 1.4 primes available. Just lacking in Bokeh department
I don't know what lens you have but I have the Z version 24-70 2.8. That's what apsc don't have
Very interesting! My rough estimate is that they are one stop apart. I would like to see the Z50 vs a6400 vs X-T30. I believe the Z50 would come out on top.
A Z50 at f5.6 and 1600 ISO will take the same picture as a Z6 at f8.0 and 3200 ISO. The same noise and same depth of field.
Full frame is better at much higher ISO levels or when the DX lens runs out of larger f-stops.
I maintain that a D7500 with a Sigma 1.8 zoom is as capable as a D750 with a f2.8 zoom at half the price.
Yes money earning professionals should buy full frame. However DX can capture as incredible an image in 90% of the use cases and is awesome for very advanced enthusiasts.
My only complaints about the Z50 are: Since neither the body nor the full frame Z lenses have stabilization, it doesn’t work so well to buy a Z50, then Z primes, then upgrade to a Z-full frame later. Although the used market is full of excellent FX stabilized lenses that would serve Z50 owners at lower prices.
It seems to me the extra reach of DX makes the Z50 ideal for Macro photography. Except they didn’t include automated focus shifting (stacking) which is critical for macro. Hopefully there is a firmware upgrade coming.
My two cents worth for new photographers.
no the exposure remains the same even though depth of field may be affected which can be fixed easily by moving back a get steps
With my Df and D7200, on a darker cloudy day, the D7200 had about the same noise at 800 ISO of the Df's at 6400 ISO with the DF still having slightly more detail. That's 3 stops better ISO performance! I would bet that if the light was dropped down with each test the ISO difference would be more as what my test showed instead of using the same bright light in all the tests.

I've been trying to make a choice, I am more of an enthusiast rather than a money earning professional and kinda young and have student loans to pay off so not a lot of liquid money to put into photography just yet and have some FX lenses already, so this helped clear things up for me!

But actually z50 picture with extremal high iso looking very good in comparison with z 6. Even more we can remove practically any noise on the extreme high iso mode. Some unicue technics of removing noise are exists!

Taking into account that you can buy two and a half z50´s with the cost of a z6, the z50 performs REALLY WELL until iso 3200, as a dx shooter i think that the IQ difference would be huge. Amazing!
Good comparison. But your test setup is still a well lit scene. I use 3200 or 6400 ISO in dark scenarios like concerts or dim lighting conditions in general. And in this situations a aps-c sensor is far behind a full frame sensor. Because now the noise at 1600 ISO is all over the frame and not just a noisy spot in the darker parts of the image
The larger sensor only presents an ISO advantage in circumstances where you don't mind having less of your image in focus. Otherwise, you'll have to bump up the ISO one stop in the Z6 to compensate for the smaller aperture you had to pick to get the same depth of field. That leaves you with almost identical ISO performance (Z50 at 3200 vs Z6 at 6400 for example). The Z6 does give you a 1-stop advantage when you don't mind shallower depth of field.
I will really appreciate if you would do a similar comparison for Video quality, Z50 vs Z6 & Z50 vs Z7 (DX)

The Z50 just shows how far APS-C cameras have come. Yes Nikon likely tweaked the noise control algorithms over the years, but this is quite impressive. I'd say if you stay under ISO 3200 there isn't a huge advantage and if you don't mind the crop factor (even when using FF lenses) then get the Z50 and save your money. I do think from a NR standpoint, though, the Z6 might hold up a bit better especially if heavier NR is required, as it has a higher resolution to start with (assuming no cropping has been done) so you may be able to preserve a bit more of the details, but quite good up to ISO 3200 on both. This is consistent with what I've seen in other tests by other people. The Z6 really starts to shine about ISO 6400 and higher ISOs, but most people probably won't shoot beyond ISO 6400 on a normal basis. Videographers it might be a different story, and you may want to get a Z6 if you're doing video.
Appreciate a comparison between Z50 and D5600
The sensor performance is absolutely fine. I would buy the 50 if it had: a) normally (like Canon and Olympus) articulating back screen and b) use of the back screen as touch pad for AF point, when looking in the EVF. The b) is a dealbreaker for me. I use that all the time. On the Z6 you still cannot do it (annoying!), but at least there is a joystick. On the 50 they cut off the joystick even. It may sound harsh, but when I got rid of my Z6, the lack of that feature was one of the reasons. I was frustrated my cheap, amateur Panasonic GX85 from 2016 has it implemented perfectly, and these are coming in 2020 for without it.
I wonder if you could do a high-iso comparison between the D3500 and the Z50?
The D3400 was Nikon's main entry-level beginner DSLR, the Z50 now basically takes up that position.
Would be cool to see the low light performance difference.
The sensor of D3400/D3500 is much better (ISO100~ISO800)
The color rendition, blacks, contrast, and detail is noticeably better on the Z6 even at ISO 100. Very noticeable on ISO 200. I can see this on my iPhone..lol:)

Really impressed with the Z50, it's an extraordinary result for a crop sensor camera, but I have to say what a champ the Z6 is proving to be , it really is an outstanding camera in the low light/high iso stakes. 4:27 Also, this isn't particularly true, in most cases full frame lenses actually appear SOFTER on a APS-C camera, as the higher pixel density gives more room for softness to be apparent.
But you do get much less distortion and vignetting.
Very nice review. Impressive result for the 'simpler' APS-C camera. I distinguish detail resolution, from gradation resolution, from (usable) dynamic range, and usable ISO. In the video, the gradation resolution of the video (1K) was giving gradation banding - but the noise was visible, still. And the color levels in the noise were clearly visible too.
No revelation here, Nikon have been very very slightly ahead of the competition on noise since the D3, but APSC will always be a worse. that the APSC, works well enough up till say 3000-5000 ISO on the best camera sensors and that will get you into some pretty dingy situations, easily capable of available light portrait near a window and urban night photography. Z50 handles rarely well, JUST need some compact prime modest aperture lenses like the Fuji systems.

Ricci, have you ever considered doing a comparison with the Z6 in Crop Mode. I am uncertain of the megapixel file size of the Z6 file in Crop mode. I am not sure that it would make any difference. I am just wondering about high ISO on a photo that needs to be cropped significantly. Is it better to start with the Z50 or Z6.
The Z6 cropped will be 10mp. When you crop a Z6 it still takes a full frame shot then processes the crop so the final image noise performance “should” be the same.

I would love to see the ISO test with less light used as what you would get in the real world, rather than the same lighting used and the camera's are just adjusted differently for the right exposure at the ISO set for the test. (I am assuming you did not keep dimming the lights with each test) I believe there is a difference. If you can test them that way, that would be great.

Late reply but this comment is 100% correct. In a Poor/dark lightning situation with my d3500 the image quality simply fell apart beyond iso 1600 while with my z5 in the same situation it looks as good if not better at iso 10000.

Z50 is sharper to me at lower ISO. It handles high ISO just fine too, not as good as Z5/Z6. I prefer the Z50.

I have found that the high iso performance of the Z50 vs the Z6 to be comparable with the Z7 vs the Z6. Noise above iso 6400 on the Z7 becomes quite apparent while it is very acceptable on the Z6. Perhaps it is due to the fact that the Z50 has a similar pixel density to the Z7. The Z50 is still a very impressive high iso camera up to iso 6400! I also expect the future Z cameras with the new EXSPEED 7 processor to handle high iso noise even better.
@Ziggi Mon Pixel pitch does have an effect on noise, but image processors are getting more efficient all the time. The Z6 has larger photosites than the Z7. The Z7 has higher resolution and pixel density, whereas the Z6 has lower resolution but the larger pixels (photosites) gather more light and more information can be recorded which creates less high iso noise. The pixel density of the Z7 vs the Z50 is similar, as measured per unit area.

This is quite interesting to me because I shoot with the A7 mk iii and D500 at around 4000 to 6400 ISO quite a lot and comparing isn't even fair.
The one neat thing about the Z cameras I've yet to hear from anyone and I've watched a lot of videos.
No one has talked about the design of the EVF. I hear oh it's big and high quality blah blah blah.
It's design is like a film magnifier. The images in the Z 50 almost have a 3D fill to them. I'll have to go look at a Z6 again.

My D90 can't go more than 800 iso, so I would consider buying z50 if it is that good in 3200 iso!
Hi Ricci. Do you know if it's possible to use DX lenses on FF Nikon Z cameras using a 1.4x TC to compensate the crop factor? Or the camera always applies the sensor crop even with the TC attached?
I think z50 will be a close match for non bsi full frame like z5
FF leaves the gate with a stop advantage so these being this close makes the Z50 look like a bargain beast.

He made a video detailing the Z6 vs the D500 noise.
The difference that I observed was that the Z6 (also Z7 and Z 50) has more color (chroma) noise than the D500. The D500 leans more to luminance noise and the Z cameras lean more to chroma noise. The Z6 had more detail than the D500 and handeled colors better in my opinion while the D500 handeled noise better due to it being luminance noise and I prefer luminance over chroma any day. The high iso performance is very subjective since they are very close and I think it depends on whether you like Luminance which is closer to film grain or Chroma which is closer to a color painting. Overall the Z6 I think is the winner due to its detail combined with its noise. Shooting high iso, you have to consider the detail retention and while the D500 produces better looking noise, the Z6 detail out performs the D500 in that department.

All 4 cameras are about the same up to iso 12,800. After that the Z6 and D500 open the gap on both the Z 50 and Z7 and the Z 50 does the old D300 trick by actually smoothing out details to make it look like it's doing a better job while the Z7 high megapixels just retains so much detail in comparison even if it has more noise than the others. The Z7 technically is the superior camera when you introduce an excellent noise reduction software like Topaz. In terms of editing noise the Z7 imo will have better iso performance than all 4 cameras. For the price, the Z 50 pretty much detroys all 4 cameras since you'd get within 6% of the others performance for thousands less which could be spent on lenses, etc. Plus the Z 50 does way better in video and autofocus.

@@miloradkaravidin8818 Yup yup. I'm getting the Z 50 Wednesday or Thursday this week. 2 Lens kit. I could get a third lens, flash, tripod, spare battery, memory card before I'd hit the cost of the Z6.
My work will mostly use flash in studio so aperture and noise is kinda irrelevant to me right now. If I have to shoot in low light at an event iso 6400 is about all I'll need.

Hi what would you recommend for wildlife photography
I'm very interested in this camera and ideally I'd purchase it with the two new dedicated lenses, so I'd like more analysis in that area. For example, as there is no IBIS in the Z50 does the lens VR completely mitigate that as an issue all? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the two new lenses? How does the IQ hold up across the zoom range? etc.

As always Ricci a useful comparison of a specific dimension of functionality. A pretty good run from the smaller sensor in the Z50. I guess that with the z50 + 50mm what you loose would be any form of image stabilisation. Any thoughts on a comparison of the Z6 + 50mm vs Z50 16-50mm both at f8? A real challenge considering the IQ of the 50mm. Or perhaps a fairer balance of Z6 + 24-70 f4? Cheers Adrian
The loss of image stabilisation isn’t a massive thing for me I use fast enough shutter speeds... I do want to do 16-50 vs 24-70 f4 I feel like that’s a fair test. I used the 50mm here just so they had the same lens to make it more about sensor performance over lens performance!

@@RicciTalks Using the same lens was the way to go for low light performance comparison, it was the talk of sharpness that got me thinking about the DX/FX lens/camera combo comparison. With some of the very attractive Xmas deals around most Z50's will be bought with the DX lenses so will have VR which will help with to extend the envelop in low light and keep the ISO down a bit.👍

Very good comparison test. Interestingly, to me, the Z50 images looked sharper until ISO1600, then they were about the same and the Z6 started to take over sharpness quality at ISO3200. I am liking the Z50 more and more though I am not a fan of mirrorless :)

@Ziggi Mon are you for real? Main reason of having high ISO is low light capability. If you are testing ISO you must adjust light to force camera increase ISO. It is because in low light you get in entire frame not in shadow area only.
@Ziggi Mon that's idiots like you who don't understand how light and sensor work. The spectrum of light transfers information to the sensor. The more light per second the more accurately image is transferred to the sensor. Less light means you get less spectrum of light. Excellent video. 2 questions, I noticed you got the z50 a little wet, how does it fair in wet bad weather? Also with your D500 and the Z50 , do they have similar colours , saturation and ISO perfect and are these using the same sensor? Many thanks 😊
I have the D500 and Z50. The Z50 is crap by comparison, the ISO noise is far worse, it's much slower at focusing in good lighting conditions and struggles to acquire focus at all in low light conditions, it isn't as good at maintaining focus of moving subjects, it feels awful to use.
If you only shoot stationary or slow moving subjects and only shoot it good lighting conditions and don't mind struggling to get your digits onto the cramped up buttons and dials, along with the hand cramps that develop as a result, then go for it and buy one.
It is greatly superior for video work.
@@GoneToHelenBachmy experience is different than yours, I bought a z50 recently and it's pretty good in focusing and keeping the subject. I've shot some birds, panning shots of cars and moving objects in morning and it produced sharp images in all. The iso noise is also fine considering I'm only using the kit lens.
But then again maybe it's due to the firmware updates it got all these years that improved it than it was when you used it.

Can you do a Z50 vs Z7 version of this video? I expect the Z6 to be better because it has larger pixels. The Pixel density on the Z50 and Z7 are comparable and I'd expect similar results from those two cameras

The sensors of D3400/D3500 are much better (ISO100~ISO800). Z50/Z30 performs poorly in outdoor sunlight scenes, and low ISO image quality is not as good as D3400
Any idea when you will get your hands on the upcoming 120-300mm f2.8? It has such a great and useful zoom range better than the 70-200.

Thanks Ricci. Maybe I missed it, but what ISO NR settings are you using in camera? I'm assuming that in LR you are showing the files as they come straight out of the camera without any processing at all. Is this correct?

@@RicciTalks So I was playing around with a Z50 today. Can you tell me if on your Z50 that the LCD screen when flipped down when it inverts? Like it seems to invert the moment you being tilting it downward toward selfie but not all the way.
Basically for overhead shooting if the screen is flipped down does it invert or does it stay static until fully inverted?

Well everyone knows that there is a one stop advantage of full frame but what actually comes out is that how well Z50 performs at higher ISO.
Not if you test the ISO by dimming the lights down instead of just keep using a nice bright light as all seem to be doing. With my Df and D7200, on a darker cloudy day, the D7200 had about the same noise at 800 ISO of the Df's at 6400 ISO with the DF still having slightly more detail. That's 3 stops better ISO performance!

Hi, I congratulate you and always follow you on your channel.
At the moment I have a g9 with Leica 12-60 and Sigma 56mm 1.4 but the feeling did not take place as it had happened with the X-t2 + 16mm1.4 I had. and many times I leave my current camera at home. I'm looking for a camera body (better if it has a built-in flash to immortalize my daughter in motion) and above all a compact and bright all-round lens for environmental and pseudo-macro portraits if I were to do a photo shoot with some friend / relative.
I started aiming for the Fuji x-s10 / x-t3 but currently there is no compact lens that can come close to the coupled Canon RP + 35mm 1.8 macros that have a higher file resolution than both JPEG and raw fuji (see attachment ) unfortunately in print I do not know and maybe you can give me a tip about it.I found an offer: Nikon z50 16-50 + 50-250 for just over 1000 euros and maybe adding the 35mm 1.8 S, but I am also intrigued by the Z5 which has a higher recovery / potential than the entire mirrorless line under 2000 € (see attachment). amateur v-log videos? I would like to take the Canon RP but not having a non-ISO variant sensor I would not know how to deal with the noise during shooting but also the maximum recovery of the files in post production working files are underexposed
If you want to go full frame the Z5 is better almost every regard no in built flash tho. And obviously a higher price point
The 35mm f1.8S is a fantastic quality lens as well.
The Z5 is fantastic for high iso and dynamic range
It sounds like you are mor drawn to full frame picture quilty and the Z50 won’t offer you that.
For me the z50 is clearly sharper than the z6 on these images. Also in the center. Can it be that the z6 is out of focus? I would not choose the z6 based on these tests because of the unsharp images in the z6.
However, the noise becomes worse on the z50, the higher the iso is set. But it is a good little camera in iso performance!

I notice that when you just shoot in darker situations, not well lit, like at a concert or in some church with crappy spot lights, it won't be this clean at ISO 6400. Can someone explain that to me? Because this setup that he has is generally well lit. I'm not super comfortable with using my Z6 in low ligt situations at ISO 6400 or higher because I really think that it just looks so bad, especially when humans are in the image.

Is the iso performance from the z50 better then the a6400?
Z50 would have performed even better with a dedicated cropped sensor lens. It's pulling half the light off of the full frame lens.

Ricci Talks yes it’s the same amount of light but must disagree about the crop using the central part of the lens so it must be sharper. That really not the case... 24mpx on crop is like 57mpx on full frame and not all lens resolve that much resolution. For a lens is way harder resolve such a dense sensor compared to a 24mpx ff
Without a test most of us know what to expect: Z6 has 1 stop better performance than Z50. You could right away test that. That is Z6 at ISO 6400 very similar to Z50 at ISO 3200.

My Z6 shows a lot of colour noise, even at relatively low iso. Not happy with it tbh.
I almost sold mine before I tried Capture one...........camera is fine!

The Z50 is a great camera but so is the Fuji Xt30 and the Sony a6400 and the Canon M50.
It would be difficult to decide between these. For me, it would be between the Z50 and the XT-30 and even the Nikon Z5 if I could get it at a good price. The a6400 is a very capable camera but it's offered in a useless body.
the z 50 looks like a nice camera too bad it lacks focus braketing - and effect braketing - uhs 2 card slot.

By using the same aperture, the Z6 is using more total light energy than the Z50. Tony Northrup has demonstrated that if different sensor size cameras are exposed to the same total light, and the images are viewed at the same resolution, and the sensor tech is about the same, the noise will be about the same. So,it would be interesting if you were to repeat the test, but scaling the aperture and ISO appropriately, so that both sensors get the same light. (and this would also result in the same *photo* being taken by both systems, because DoF would be matched). So F1.8 on the Z50, and 1.5 X 1.8 = F2.7 on the Z6, and for any given ISO on the Z50, multiply by the *square* of the crop factor to get the Z6 ISO. E.g Z50 ISO = 100, Z6 ISO = 225. (I know you can't hit these numbers exactly - fine tune the exposure as best you can).
Tony Northrup has no clue about photography or how sensors work. This is the real test, not Tony's math gibberish that makes no sense.
I was considering to buy the Z50 with the 50mm or the Z6 with the 50mm. I will opt for the Z6, because I just love the ISO performance.

Btw, this test is A test, but I think Tony's test is a BETTER test, because using Tony's method, both cameras will be taking the same PHOTO - same framing, same DoF, and same shutter speed. The test in it's current form is still useful though.
Unfortunately the Northrups have very little idea about equivalence or how sensors work. My advice is to ignore their weird maths and stick with results you can see for yourself.
@@Hemlck I disagree, and they have shown actual images to back up their maths. Again - please explain in detail what they have got wrong, so we can all assess your reasoning. So far, I think they have an excellent understanding of equivalence, but I'm willing to listen.
@@gregsullivan7408 noise is in relation to SNR (signal to noise ratio) which is affected by the pixel pitch. so the higher noise of the z50 is a result of its higher pixel pitch, not its smaller sensor. give the small APSC sensor the same pixel pitch as the z6 and you will see the same noise at given shutter/aperture/iso. Sure, angle of view are different on different sized sensors, as APSC is a crop of fullframe, but dof will still be the same as it is not related to the sensor size. Closing the aperture on the z6 would not lead to the same photo being taken, as the angle of view is 50mm fullframe and not 50mm APSC. So I agree with @Taipei Geek, Tony's test is kinda stupid.
At ISO 200 the Z50 is pretty clearly sharper and at 400 still a bit sharper. At ISO 400 at 1 to 1 the Z6 is almost oof compared to the 50 at 6:13
Not a realistic test because the high iso shots are shot with a shutter speed of 1/3200s. This is not a realistic test for low light use. Results are very different in low light where you shoot tipically at slower shutter speeds such as 1/60s etc
@Ziggi Mon I've been a pro wedding photographer for 20 years. I have noticed that a faster shutter does provide a cleaner image at higher ISO's. Not 100% sure that it's not do to being in brighter light and there being less shadows for noise to show up. But it sure does seem as if the faster shutters provide cleaner images.
