So if tech is where you want to be, make sure you're developing an app, etc. where you OWN a tech company then investing that money. You keep going because of the adventure, the freedoms, the greatly increased ability to help others. Good luck, I've subscribed. Because those ways are new school money. Very recent. The people he’s interviewing are much older. Give it some time for the shifts to be apparent. You haven’t made any logical conclusions here.

I've always wanted to do this! Every time I drive in a nice neighborhood, I think, "What do you have to do for a living to afford a home like this?" My favorite was the director of finance at a software company. I always assumed you had to be en entrepreneur or own your own business in order to afford a home like that. Thanks for sharing this! Heard about you from the My First Million Podcast!

Some of them are probably in debt up to their eyeballs. Living in a fancy house and/or driving a nice car are NOT necessarily indicative of wealth. Most Mercedes are bought on CREDIT (people with money don't need loans to buy s $70k car-we pay cash). Most wealthy people are frugal, not flashy. We prefer to have a large portfolio to a large house and an expensive car.

WiSDOM @5:54 “actually go get you a degree in architecture. But don’t be a practicing architect”. Same experience here, led to the creation of our consulting company. Although the path can be simpler, less costly, and less theory saturated than architecture school. Simple formula: Find joy in the practice of making things that others find value in, despite the challenges that arise. Charge for your time and/or a product of your efforts. Correct course as you go.

Have someone in my family who worked in the past as a tech that would go into people's homes to install things. He would go into these really big houses and would always ask them what they did to afford such a beautiful house. Most everyone said they invested in the market.

      That’s interesting… why not?
The person who worked his way up literally gets paid because he removes a lot of the stress of business ownership and takes it on himself.
As a business owner you can pay someone else for the stress.
