    I checked this book ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxSw1k29V8f0aNwyGI6qRGYJc3E4Y4Eoxy out at the library - read it cover to cover - and then decided to purchase it, so i can refer to it as needed. This provides additional ways to train in addition to the two obedience classes my sicx month old belgian malinois has already attended. Despite having dogs my whole life, i have been voraiciously reading dog training and psychology books lately given my little "maligator" has a mind of her own (extremely smart but obstinate) , and this one ranks among the best.

    RSPCA in the UK has told people that prong collars don't work and cause pain. But I think your explanation of how normal collars on dogs that do not respond to commands is causing a lot more stress to the neck is a valid point. Prong collar is for training and for that purpose it does a great job. Once the dog is calm and has self control, it's normal to switch to a normal collar.

      We train horses in a thin rope halter that means we have to apply less force to get the horses attention. Its for our safety and the horses safety, but their normal halters are much thicker and softer for comfort. The types of tools are just training tools that in the WRONG hands can hurt an animal but in the right hands are great ways to train animals.

Too many people have dogs and don't have any control over them, so all your hard work could be destroyed by someone else's dog attacking yours. It's like kids. I hate that my kids have to be re directed from bad behaviour because if things they pick up at school by parents who don't think they should say no to their kids and let them do and say what they want. Stick a gadget in their hands, not your problem anymore, is their answer. People should have a to do training before they have pets or kids imo.😮

    His way of training may in many cases save the dogs life while creating a loving and valuable member of the person or family. I’ve trained all my dogs with prong collars for many years and turned all of them into loving obedient pets . Once trained, they were on regular wide collars while giving one word voice commands along with a pat , name and good dog voice reward. The dogs loved it and so did other people who were around us because there was no tension in the air , just positive energy and when that happens it’s really special.

      Barbara Woodhouse - "Vintage" dog trainer told us (back min the 1960's?) to say SIT in a very clear speaking voice "siT"; with an accompanying hand gesture. She used what is called a 'choke coller' in the UK. No prongs, just a chain. This was considered to be cruel to the dogs, so she and the choke chain fell out of favour. Such a pity. There seems to be a fashion now to have dogs on harnesses - more freedom for the dog. But all I observe is the owners pulling the dogs along or the dogs pulling the owners - as though they were an Artic sledge !

    the prong collar also imitates the mother dog using her teeth to teach her pups and older dogs discipline.

    • @BachiraMeguruWife
      @BachiraMeguruWife 2 роки тому +5

      I’m pretty sure the prong collar does a bit more damage then a mother dog’s teeth. And obviously the mother dog is trying to discipline her puppies so she is going to be more settle and gentle about it since she is teaching her pups. Also, not all mother dogs discipline the same way by nipping or biting the pups; I know this because I have a seen lots of different mother dogs teach their pups by mother dog directing pups a different direction, pushing pups out of the way, mother dog eating first, (if mother dog is getting fed the same time pups are.) and mother dog growling at pups. So my point is that a mother dog and prong collar shouldn’t imitate the same thing/way. But it does sound like a good opinion to think that, trust me when I didn’t know much about dogs I thought this too. 😂 But thanks for reading this! :)

    This was amazing. We are always told that prong cllars are cruel in the UK. But a normal collar that clearly wasn't working was doing eay more damage. The constant coughing and choking,yet the dog still pulls. Ive seen friends dogs actually being sick from pulling so much. These prong collars when used correctly work great. And its only for training. The dog will soon learn to not to pull at all and no prong collar is needed. Not cruel at all. The digs weren't crying or choking. So much patience dogdaddy. I hope people see that even a total stranger like Dog Daddy, can and does know and understand more of what the dog’s behaviour means and what the dogs needs are. He clearly understands dogs very well and anyone who has the pleasure of being trained by him, should all feel extremely lucky to have such a professional explain to them their specific dogs needs. Yep people just do not understand prone collars. As long as the right prong collar is used, and the owner uses it as it is intended it just helps to reinforce the owners commands. I love how you instructed the owner to just pull lightly with two fingers and very little tug. This is where people get so crazy about helping their pets. They'd rather allow the dogs to be scared, confused and anxious than to use a prone collar.

    I absolutely love what Dog Daddy is doing for pet owners all over the world. The pandemic brought a large increase in pet ownership and I've seen many naive new pet owners that are actually causing suffering in their pets because they don't have a clue. This entire process is also a strong analogy for parenting, human parenting of human kids. I sure could have used this kind of guidance for my one child that was born screaming and never stopped.

    I really appreciate your explanation about how prong collars are used. I Like to explain to people that it is merely a communication tool. I have a big fluffy 80 lb German shepherd. When she was a pup she pulled fiercely. I am a fairly small 66 year old female. I started listening to Augusto when my pup was a baby. I was reluctant to use a prong collar but I have to admit that a regular collar just wasn’t effective. The SECOND I put a prong collar on my pup was the first time that I felt that I was handling my dog, rather than her dragging me. The was the prong collars are designed the chain rattles with a slight pull which gets her attention. I enjoy walking her and could move on to more complex tasks. I can take her into stores, to off leash parks, around children and as a central member of my family because she is well behaved. I get compliments on her behavior all the time…which makes me feel so proud of her. She is t(e one who has learned, matured and become dependable. Augusto…Your lessons are far reaching. Thank you.

    That was excellent 👍 You thought the ladies to better control their beautiful dogs and to be able to enjoy them. Also, the dogs feel confident and are better to please their people. Dogs instincts are to be part of the pack. Now the ladies know how to be leader of their pack Great teaching, very much appreciated this teaching and for sharing.
    I liked how you also showed the come process. When I see people trying to capture their wondering dog, chasing them and yelling at them, I just shake my head. Knowing that once captured.. they are going to be abused and that troubles me. I would run too most likely. I said to many, when you get them don't abuse them. Reward with positive response in stead. It's not their fault.
    Not, very often, if the gate is open my 8 will go through and go explore the street. No matter how far they get... All I have to do is whistle and they all come running back and I tell them GOOD Good babies. Neighbors are amazed of how well they listen, and say they wished their dogs would listen like that. Most of the time I can leave the gate open and they won't come through by telling them to stay. My only burden and the only breed of many, is is... The 6 brother's have a territory marking problem. They are known to be the hardest to house break. They are older now, mix of 3 litter's, oldest 8 to youngest 6. Dog mail indoors has been to say the least frustrating. They have a dog door and are trained house broken, come and go at pleasure. Male marking squirts just don't stop. I've tried all that I know to try and break this habit, about and then some. What is your thoughts on this? It may be something that has gone on to long to stop... hmm 🤔🧐 Love you Augusta, from Colorado Rocky Mountains You are Awesome... GOD LOVES YOU MOST ❤️✌️🐾🐾🐾🐾

    Dear Augusto,
    What a shame I missed your visit by 8 months. I just came to the UK last month & am off to Brussels on the 12th this month. But I'll keep watching tips on UA-cam meanwhile. I had a German shepherd some 34 years ago & the only way to walk him was without lead ( leash I believe you call it) . He always walked 4/5 metres in front or behind & never crossed the road without permission. My sister in law recently bought me a German shepherd puppy now 1.5 year old & just like the first one pulls like a freight train; unfortunately the ret of Europe is much stricter on control & therefore I cannot do the same as with my other one. I have purchased a Herm Springer prong collar some months back & the transformation is like night & day. My sister in law who is of a very small stature can & does walk him every day during my absence without any issues. I never had to use it as intended as upon the first walk he self corrected himself attempting to chase pigeons. Keep up the great work & best wishes. Kind regards.
