Love how Ed's face just lights up when he sees Holly. Peter Simon and Maureen Garrett nailed that scene perfectly. they said more in two minutes of screen time than other actors say in hours of dialog.
Me too! I have recently been watching videos of Ross and Blake when they first got together and then watched this and the tears just fell. I loved them together!
My all-time favorite daytime soap. I think they found their footing with the new production model...just as the show was inching toward cancelation. It kept them on the air a little longer. And, for that...I'm glad. The conversation with Holly and Olivia is interesting. I distinctly remember reading that the original plan was for a Holly/ Olivia pairing. Thx for the upload.
I adore these scenes...I was not born yet when Maureen first appeared on GL, but watching the old clips, she is absolutely riveting. I would love to one day meet her. I said it elsewhere, but I'd love for TPTB to release a DVD set with HOlly's life...with Ed, Roger, Daniel, Fletcher, etc.
Agreed. I'd never seen this clip before but I literally can't take my eyes off of her in these scenes. How in the heck is she still so pretty? And she is totally amazing no matter which actor is in the scene with her. Seriously amazing.
I agree with you, I’ve always like Maureen Garrett . The scene with her and Olivia is interesting considering she wanted a gay story line when she was on the show. And she just came out as gay for national coming out day
Yeah me too Rebfire29 I just love Maureen Garrett, the scenes with Blake and Olivia are beyond gorgeous. I liked the scenes with Ed too with both Blake and Holly. The mention of Blake's dad really took me back though, wow remember that stuff it was really intense. I'm so happy to have seen Holly again before the show ended, I always loved her character. She was awesome with Olivia in this clip I wish it was longer.
About 10 years ago, apparently the writers tinkered with pairing Olivia & Holly romantically. It would have made sense since both women have always had a bisexual aura about them.
Lawd the ending of Guiding Light looked just like it was the end. From the way it was shot, to the clothes that they were wearing, and the sets. WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DO THIS SHOW SO HORRIBLY IN THE END?!! YOU HAD ONE JOB!!! 😒😒
im sorry but this production change sucked! anyone who saw the glitz and glamour of the 80's and 90's know there is no comparison. these characters are just too out of place in the reality tv mechanics. however, they pull it off when you have two legends like these. Had michael Z lived I couldnt imagine roger being shot in this kind of set up. No one wouldve wanted to see roger going outside to get the mail or taking a stroll in the park. just would not have worked
Oh yes. Michael Zaslow worked with all Four Blakes. Cheryl Lynn Brown, Elizabeth Denehey (Brian's Daughter), Sherry Stringfield, and Liz Kiefer the Longest Running Blake from 1992-2009.
Of course she met her father. Roger Thorpe drove this show for two decades. His influence on Blake, whom he called Chrissy, her childhood name, was incalculable.
Holly: You're an odd child. Blake: I get it from my mom. Holly: and your dad. They didn't even have to say his name... that's how you knew the kind of weight he had on those women, and the whole town of Springfield.
It was such a treat seeing Holly back before the end of GL. She made the show so classy when she was on.
Love how Ed's face just lights up when he sees Holly. Peter Simon and Maureen Garrett nailed that scene perfectly. they said more in two minutes of screen time than other actors say in hours of dialog.
Oh gosh, Blake talking to Ross made me ugly cry. I love those two.

Maureen Garrett & Liz Kiefer Did An Awesome Jobs They're Like Mother and Daughter For Number Of Years On Guiding Light

Holly and ED.....that takes me back to the old days.

beautiful hug between the two !!!!!! Ed loved Holly long time ago after Maureen's death
Maureen Garrett (Holly) has not aged since she first appeared on this show in the 70s.
