The pro macbooks have that higher storage and memory as their base, so it's just a small price jump from regular macbook with the same specs (512gb storage and 16gb ram). Regular macbooks cut down the base specs of the pros for people who really cannot afford to spend more

Kind of ridiculous that my phone (Fold 4) has more storage and memory than a base model MBA... I had to shell out practically MBP money for the config I wanted for my MBA. 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, 10-core GPU. Yes it would've made more financial sense to get the M1 Pro MBP, but the form factor was a deal breaker. Coming from a 2017 macbook (the one with only 1 USBC port), no other choice for me than the MBA. But imagine that 2015-2017 macbook form factor with an M chip... My dream Mac.

The first MAC I bought lasted three years. I bought two more and had the same problem with both. After about 6 months they quit working. I had a warranty and took them to the apple store. When they opened them up, they were rusted inside. I was accused of spilling something on the keyboard, not so. They said my warranty didn't cover the problem. For what I paid for them, I should have been given a new laptop. I will never buy another Apple laptop of any kind.

I just checked on base model Windows laptops and 95% of them start with 256GB/8GB base models. As Windows have 80%+ of the market then they should lead changes like that and Apple will have to follow. You clearly are anti-Apple, and you should address Windows OEMs rather than trolling Apple.

@@stevenp3176 Actually most RAM is now soldered on Windows ultrabooks so that is incorrect (Galaxy Book3 Pro line for example). Most SSDs are still upgradeable on Windows ultrabooks, but most sensible ultrabook users can easily just use external storage with TB4 and this means you can use your external storage on all your devices. That is the point of Thunderbolt, the need for larger internal storage for most ultrabooks is moot.

Apple does what it can to hold that 20% and there is little upside of adding more specs, unless Windows force them to match. Your argument is aimed at the wrong business. Go to Windows videos and ask them to have base 512GB/16GB, that is what a clever person would do (see phones, Apple forced to increase RAM and storage as Android upped their specs). This fundamental misunderstanding of how economies of a tech industry works is frustrating to read time after time.

I mean, M1 was a process shrink and M2 wasn't. The incremental nature of M2 should have been obvious to anybody. There doesn't have to be a conspiracy. They could have held back the M1's performance, but they were smart not to. As noted in the video, it came out at a time of high demand for computers in general, so being there with the right product at the right time was perfect for Apple. They made money then and some of that wouldn't have been there now, as the market is slower for everyone now.
And, I do get what you're describing as a consumer. I have an M1 Mac and an iPhone 13 and see no reason whatsoever to upgrade any day soon. But, Apple is better off for me having bought those then.

You see the Windows prices, even higher price rises. There is a distinct lack of understanding of basic economics on YT and you fall into this category. There was 30% tech inflation the last year before the new M2 Macs and a 10% devaluation of EU exchange rates. Apple just did what they had to, and of course, all Windows OEMs have followed with their 13th-gen machines (or price-gouged).

As for changing prices; the MB Air M2 has already been seen at £1050 (£200 less than launch), so price does vary with time and changes).

I'm more into tablets (With full desktop OSs like Windows, would like Linux options in the future) because they are more physically versatile, modular and mobile use on the go i.e. handheld use then laptops.
I've lost interest in M Mabooks and DEFINTELY do not consider iPads remotely usable as "computer replacements"
The only Apple device I would consider is an iPad Pro that has FULL MacOS. No restrictions or gatekeeping by Apple.
By the time that happens...IF that happens we would probably have tri-folding Windows with phone functionality and Android with greater desktop features (like Dex) tablets on the market.
As a gamer I've got a handheld gaming PC (OneXPlayer 2) and they are a growing category. So I'm covered in that area as well (not like I ever considered Apple as a gaming platform and its offerings as proper alternative)

I recently made a purchase of a Mac Mini M2 Pro, featuring an impressive 32GB RAM, 12-core CPU, and 19-core GPU. However, I've made the decision to return it to Apple due to some issues with display support. Despite having four Thunderbolt ports, it's disappointing that running triple displays over them isn't possible, especially when compared to older Intel Macs that could handle this task with ease. Instead, the display must be split, and one of them must run over HDMI.
Additionally, the hefty $400 charge to upgrade from 16GB to 32GB of RAM seems outrageous, especially when you consider that upgrading from 32GB to 64GB on other Macs costs the same amount. It's worth noting that top-spec DDR5 RAM of 64GB can be purchased on Amazon for approximately $200.
