    Concerning the hair ties on their wrists, I found that it becomes restrictive, too tight. So I will double over 1 of the ties and put it on my finger and wears a ring. It worked for longer period of time and I don't lose the tie.

    if you have thick hair that is curly or wavey do not i repeat do not brush your hair use you finger tips in the shower to detangle whilst the conditioner is in your hair this also helps to evenly distribute it..... if you feel extra is needed then buy a very wide toothed comb
    My hair routine
    rotate wash with shampoo and conditioner with just a conditioner wash for example day 3 shampoo and conditioner day 6 conditionor only you get the point
    Also give your hair a coconut oil mask whilst it is dry for 30mins-1hour before each wash
    when leaving the shower using your hand sqeeze as much water as you can out with your hands then pat gently with a towl
    Then optional Apply some sort of curling enhancer cream etc at this point whilst still damp to bring out waves and curls and tame some frizz and let it air dry do not use a hairdryer
    Wait 30 mins then apply a very small amount of cocounut oil and a little bit of hairspray to give you a tiny bit of hold and leave the door

    Baking soda is the cheapest and cleans the best compared to shampoo, trust me, I used to have dreads.... they were verrrry clean.

    • @TheTravellingScientist
      @TheTravellingScientist  4 роки тому

      "No Poo" or no shampoo, use baking soda instead. That would be cheap and it can be effective, but it is important to remember that the pH of Baking Soda is quite high (pH 9.5) and the pH of your hair and scalp is low (pH 3-6), this can have a negative impact, especially if you already have a dry scalp. I'll keep saying it, everybody has different hair. Baking soda might be a great shampoo for some, but not everybody. Thanks for your suggestion @Vito Guerrero Ps. Why did you ditch your dreads?

    • @TheTravellingScientist
      @TheTravellingScientist  4 роки тому +1

      Cheers legend, I'm glad you enjoy the vids! Hmmm, hair cleaning frequency totally depends on the individual. I would only get mine wet and wash it once per week...but I don't train everyday. If it is getting crazy sweaty then you might need to wash more often...just remember that water makes hair swell and damage easier. Try using some hair oil to protect it from water and sweat. Really awesome tips. I've grown my hair for the first time due to the coronavirus thing, and I'm loving it! Looks good on me and I got a few compliments. But the thing is I'm seeking a job currently and it's considered the first time applying to jobs while having a long hair. I really don't know what it's like working with long hair, I'm wondering if I can wear beanies or hats, or is it acceptable just making it look neet with ties and stuff, I heard it's unacceptable in some work environments in that concerns me a bit.

    • @TheTravellingScientist
      @TheTravellingScientist  3 роки тому +2

      Hey @Howard Mathews thanks so much for watching and sharing your story. I guess it depends what sort of job you are going for, but I have worked in hospitality and also in a laboratory environment with long hair and it has never been an issue. I wouldn't worry too much about it, people shouldn't hire or fire you based on your haircut, and if they do, then you shouldn't want to work for those people! That's my outlook on it anyway. Keep your hair long and luscious my friends haha Cheers legend!

    When you've washed your long hair every single day for almost 2 years. I realized I was doing something wrong when my hair clutched the bathub, I switched to every other day, still lost hair, but not nearly as much.
    Also, would you recommend tying my hair when sleeping, or should I let it loose?
    Very good video.

    • @TheTravellingScientist
      @TheTravellingScientist  4 роки тому +2

      Well we are losing hairs all the time, but the longer your hair is, the more you notice, that is why some people freak out and think they are going bald...you're NOT, you are just losing big, noticable hairs, which are getting replaced all the time! I leave my hair loose at night, less stress on the follicle cells, but you can tie it loosely if it is getting annoying for you or your sleeping buddy...but I would let it flow. Great question legend!

      Babies grow quickly, it is naturally part of evolution. This included their hair. I’ve been growing my hair out for the last 7 months and it’s gotten somewhat long but I haven’t trimmed or cut split ends. I actually didn’t even know what split ends were before I saw this video. Im going to post a video of my hair progress on my Channel, I hope someone who has had long hair can help me and guide me how to maintain it. I’ve always had short straight hair but recently decided to grow it out because I saw an old picture of me as kid having like the back part of hair be wavy, so I thought if I let it grow out maybe I’d see the waves re-emerge a little. Help needed

    • @likewater1429
      @likewater1429 5 років тому +2

      I have thick wavy hair. It is said long hair looks even better when it has some waves to it. So I guess congrats on that. I have grown my hair for one year and 4 months so far. My best record. Although the front sides are not as long as the back I can still tie my hair into a pony tail thus far. With a little bit of product I can tame any fly aways on windy days that come out of the sides when I tie it up. I have not gotten a hair cut the whole time I have grown my hair. I'm uncertain if I have split ends. I'm sure I have some. But with wavy hair it's pretty tuff to notice and my hair looks pretty ok. I plan on getting a maintenance trim in two months. But first I will see if I even need it. Be mindful a hair stylist might persuade u into getting a cut for money when u might not exactly need it. I say wait a year or when you can tie everything up into a not so tight pony tail and then get a trim. Always remember dont tie your hair very tight or you will recede your hairline. If you notice ot recedes and u know you tie tight pony tails. Visit a dermatologist to see if you have traction alopecia. And try not over wearing hats. When your at home relax your hair and dont put anything in it really. Take that vitamin that promotes healthy hair skin and nails. Dont over do that vitamin. Once every two days or so I guess. I have failed two or three times trying to grow my hair out. I finally made to the pony tail stage first time. Which means I'm pretty much out of the awkward stage. Kinda. .. I wouldn't recommend using a hair straightener. My first go around I burned my hair and it was much shorter on the sides. And rather than cutting off the burn looking tips and having my hair look even more awkward and taking more time to grow i cut it all off. My hair takes way longer to dry these days and it gets kinda annoying sometimes but that's what it takes if you wanna try out a mane lol. Get yourself a wide tooth comb. A natural brush. And a cloth hair tie when you get their. Maybe even one that is a bigger hair tie than usual. If you have product in your hair you need to wash it out at the end of the night. If you leave it in their one extra day or especially two, it will make your head itch badly and when you shampoo it off your scalp will sting. This may cause more hair loss than usual for longer hair. Be gentle. Get a hair diffuser for your hair dryer or put a sock on it. Get a decent hair dryer. ULTA is a pretty good store for men and women. And hot girls work their to. They will also give u a good haircut for 30 bucks. Hair stylist or a salon is better than a Male barber shop. Those guys are usually only good with a blade and clippers than scissors and most of those guys only know short cuts. Once you reach the length you want practice with diffrent types of pony tail styles and maybe even get cool bad ass braids. Dont let anyone discourage you. Not even girls. Growing your hair is a journey and it show commitment. Not everybody can do it. And you only get to enjoy for so long until ur hair turns grey or worst case you go bald later in life. Sometimes people look better with hairstyles that match a certain body type or face..that doesnt mean u gotta be average looking or attractive. It just means no matter how hot you already are or not hot long hair may still not be the best style for you Maybe being a little more lean or swole or something might compliment your long hair with your personal face. Maybe you might even dye your hair to show off your mane. If so please use a natural temporary hair dye. And have a proffessional do it for you. Since we are saving so money on haircuts dont be afraid to visit a 4.5 or 5 star place and spend 30 to 50 bucks on a maintenance cut. You wont be getting another cut for the next 7 to 13 months anyways. I remember going to work with a certain way I put my hair that looked really good. This was before I could tie it up. Problem was that my hair wasnt completely dry. By the time I got to work it looked very very different. Looked like crap and ugly.. and lowered my attractiveness level. I was upset. but I didnt let that make me give up like last time. If you go to the gym use a hair band. Not a head band for basketball. U can use a bandanna in different ways. Or those silky hair bands that are for the gym. When your lazy and it's too awkward u can use a hat or just roll with it and not care..if you can try hair styles that help u survive while u grow it out without cutting. Slick back? Messy? American crew forming cream was good for me or red Ken rewind styling paste. Or definitely argan oil. Leave in conditioner to. Cool thing about long hair is u dont need many haircuts and u can style it alot of ways still. The jedi braid. Pig tails. Braids. Dread locks and much more. Dreads should be a " I'm going to cut my hair soon so this is my last hair style since I cant undo dread locks. " sometimes you gotta be honest with yourself and say that long hair isnt the best look for you. It may even be the worst look. But you gott know that rationally and not a insecure perspective or what dick heads say. In one more year my hair will be completely shoulder length. Dont give up. I dont know what else to say. Good luck. Remember all this. Dont use a fucking hair strengthener on your own . Pros only. Dont trust friends or family with your hair. they might fuck it up. On accident or on purpose. Dont be mean to people who have access to your shampoo and stufff.never know they might hurt your journey out of anger by putting hair loss juice in it.

      Don't stress dude! Our hairs fall out all the time, but when it is shorter you don't notice it because it's smaller, you cannot see it. It is perfectly natural to lose a few hairs, especially in the shower when you are washing it because you are messing with it. Your shampoo or conditioner choice will not prevent a few hairs from falling out, just don't use any harsh chemicals like bleach in your hair. Keep up the luscious locks :)

    my hair is very thick with very wide curls, if I brush it, my hair frizzes out into this weird weighed down afro. I'm thinking of growing my hair back out again but how do I manage that if I need to brush it?

    • @TheTravellingScientist
      @TheTravellingScientist  4 роки тому +1

      Hey @Radio Atmosphere, I don't have frizzy hair and I'm certainly no hair expert. Just do what feels right and be proud of your hair, a weighed down afro sounds cool, but if you don't like it, use some oil or products to change that. Maybe try straightening it? I hope that helps somehow, good luck and thanks for watching!

    I've been growing my hair out for the past couple of years. I have a job where I wear a flight helmet, and when I take it off my longer hair is a mess. A ponytail tames some of it, but the best I can do is cover it with a baseball cap. Any ideas?

    • @TheTravellingScientist
      @TheTravellingScientist  5 років тому

      Google "Hairmet"...failing that, I would suggest having a comb and a brush on hand to fix the mess as soon as the helmet comes off, do you think that would help?

      @@TheTravellingScientist Thanks for the quick reply. I'm on an emergency medical helicopter, so not a lot of time for brushing hair when we land. I guess I'll have to settle on the baseball cap until all of my hair is long enough to fit in a good ponytail.

    1. Do you have tips to keep my hair dry during showers.
    2. My hair is usually oily but up till now i've always washed my hair with shampoo and conditioner daily. Is that the problem or is it something else?
    3. Great video very informative!
    Edit. Question 1 was answered in part 2.

    • @TheTravellingScientist
      @TheTravellingScientist  4 роки тому

      Great questions @Siegward Of Catarina
      1.I tie my hair up during showers and just take care not to put my head under the water. The hair gets a little wet but it works for me. Otherwise you can use a showercap also to keep it dry.
      2.It seems odd that your hair is oily if you wash it every day, perhaps your head produces an abnormally large amount of sebum (oil), or maybe you are using poor quality shampoo and conditioner...or not washing it out properly. Either way, try washing it less and when you do wash it, use quality products, and take your time to wash them out well :) Hope that helps!
      3.Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Keep in touch, cheers!

      Great question @Aayush Pareek you should use hair oil regularly, I do it every day before I leave the house, but especially just AFTER you have washed your hair, because you have washed away all of the natural oils, you need to replace them to keep the hair healthy and protected. One bad habit that you always should avoid is brushing and combining wet hair. It can lead to split ends and knotty. It’s unhealthy for hair when growing it and when you’re not growing it. Always comb and brush dry hair. If you comb and brush dry hair it’ll give you a natural, gorgeous and sexy look. Wanna look sexy with long hair???? Brush, comb it when dry and look after it like a boss. The best look for men with long hair is with a beard. It can be any length of the beard. It can be short, medium and big. My goal is to grow a big Viking beard and long hair to my ass to look like a proper Viking with also rings, piercings and tattoos.

    • @TheTravellingScientist
      @TheTravellingScientist  4 роки тому +1

      @_Dan_Wright_ _ Thanks for your input my man! Yes, wet hair is very brittle and easy to damage with a brush or comb. Also I like your opinion about beards, I keep a short one and it works for me, but everyone has their own look. Thanks for watching and commenting, you are a lord!

    Do you apply oils when wet or dry? Same with brushing

    • @TheTravellingScientist
      @TheTravellingScientist  4 роки тому

      Great Question @Bryon Azoulay Oil should be applied to the hair when it is dry so that it can penetrate and protect the hair strands without being repelled by too much water. I normally put oil in my hair after washing it, when it has dried, or just before I leave my house. Apply with your hands, more towards the tips than the roots, then brush it through to distribute evenly. Check out the link I placed in the description of the video. Cheers legend, keep in touch!
