NASA Conducts Second Spacewalk to Fix Coolant Pump on ISS

- Expedition 38 astronauts Rick Mastracchio and Mike Hopkins ventured outside the space station on Dec. 24, for the second in a series of spacewalks to remove and replace a faulty coolant pump module. The pump is associated with one of the station's two external cooling loops, which circulate ammonia outside the station to keep both internal and external equipment cool.
The previously planned mission of Orbital Sciences' Cygnus spacecraft has been moved to no earlier than mid-January. The postponement will allow ample time for the station crew to focus on repairing the pump module, which stopped working properly on Dec. 11.
Great video, I watched most of the spacewalk.
This was certainly not an easy job and the complete teamwork is absolutely great to witness.
This is what's needed for the push to Mars-performing on the spot repairs and maintenance.
Great job fellas.
i wanna party on the space station :D
Remember the risks: Someone pukes or cant pee straight and then everything flies around! :D
You need to install gopros on the eva suits for better video footage.
13:50 the guy in the corner with the sandwich is like om nom nom lol
The stories they get to tell their grandchildren! "Yeah, I replaced a coolant pump on the International Space Station."
Great guys these astronauts, amazing job, way to go NASA !
"The true definition of the international space station: a Japanese astronaut operating a Canadian arm with the assistance of a Russian cosmonaut to help two American astronauts in the void of space conducting this spacewalk."
Gravity!!!
Merry Christmas to the Crew ,nice work
Sheesh! This is a job of work!
Scott how stupid can you fucking be? Like honestly? How fucking stupid? I need to know. You space hoaxers are fucking ridiculous.
Hope the astronauts have a happy Christmas on the ISS. All the best , Cheers.
One word, intense!
The future is (already) out there. Amazing!
@ 13:40, big guy pounds down a triple baconator!
thermal systems officers gripping job
Thank You for the video present.
Must be an incredible feeling to be at the end of that arm looking down at Earth
This! is! Madness!
I cannot imagine how cold it is 0:47
Thank you.
All the best NASA.
Well Done !
Why don't they stream these videos during the live coverage? Its better than the mounted cam they had on mike.
huston you got yourself a new pump module :P
Good luck~
Will the actual faulty pump module be removed fom the truss fixture/box and eventually taken into the station for being repaired lateron? Is there a plan for such?
Watch out for space debris! I seen it happen once in a movie.
" I got this, hold my beer"
Saludos.
Bonita es la historia.!!!!
"That would be awkward, yeah"
>cooling equipment
>- whatever degrees celsius
i think you need heating equipment.
what would happen if a astronaut farted in the space suit, out on a spacewalk.
it would get recycled and turn into breathing air.
***** lol
Beautiful. ;)
I wonder how many of thees people kept dropping stuff back on earth because they expected them to float
14:35 "Big Gulps huh? Welp, see ya later!"
This is incredible. Space plumbers. What will NASA need to do next?
Jajaja
demate ?
I figured: Mating --> Connecting. Demating --> disconnecting.
mission controlers posts on fb at work :P
The ISS gave them a golden shower for Christmas!
Wow. Stood out there on that liitle arm. Freak me out
