    I am a retired ford tech, great video but folks you do not have to have the cam alignment tools for this job if you have them great if not it is not life threatning. If you are a great thinker than think about it look at the cams see were you can put a wrench on them get your marks up on the gears place i believe 7/8 open end wrenches stubby's work great use good plastic zip ties and fix the wrenched were thay won't move. I use vice grips with a piece welded on them and fasten to a valve cover bolt hole (aka thinker). Done about 35 this year and one on the way. I do the whole job 950 out the door all motorcraft parts (do not use parts store pumps) i did one were someone used a parts store gnb pump and it did not last 20,000 miles. make damn sure every thing is clean spotless and oil free, when buying brake clean which works great be sure to get the kind that is flammable (read the lable or pull out your lighter and roast your buddy's backside). The non flammable type sux does not clean as good and harder to dry. It sux harder than that sorry safety kleen parts washer solvent///ain't worth a damn. my shop parts washer has kerosene/diesel fuel,, so tell te safety kleen man to take a hike with his environmentally friendly garbage . DO NOT USE A PARTS STORE WATER PUMP GET A MOTORCRAFT PUMP,,, if using a shop other than a ford dealer request a motorcraft pump and ask to see it to make sure that is what you are getting.

      Hehe, I’m thinking; one could grind off part of that cam phaser tooth so the bolt will simply pass by. This saves loosening anything! On the 5.3 Chev oil sump tube it would also be convenient to switch the bolt to the front of the engine with a modification to the tube retaining pin on the opposite side. I was successful to raise the engine an inch and drop the pan just enough to get my fingers and wrench in there for the inside bolt without dropping the front differential (PTU in Ford). So,,,, Since there is more than that single gear tooth moving the chain it really won’t make a difference or affect the timing as some nay-sayers may bellow now… Oh, Anyone who proclaims some minor ‘imbalance’ may simply grind a tooth off on the opposite side of phaser as well for shits n giggles. You guys make me want to be facetious. Thanks

Thankfully mine is still under the original powertrain warranty since it's a 2019 with 39k miles. Keep an eye on this area & you might get lucky enough to catch it before it catastrophically fails.

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone

    • @garyr7027
      @garyr7027 Рік тому +1

      Do not use sealant on the pump or you could block the passage way for the coolant to reach the weep hole. Pumps comes with rubber seals use only that on a very clean block surface. Timing cover must have sealant as that's how they assembled it at the factory. Ford was to tight to make a timing cover with built in seals like they did with modular engines... Lol.

      If you have hydraulic power steering you have to remove the power steering pump. Remove the belt, then take out the 3 bolts that hold the pump on, the bolt heads are 10mm. If you’re good enough, you could remove just the 2 bolts that attach to the cover and back out the third bolt without removing it. It will make it a little easier to realign and install the pump.
