I love the anticipation on Shane’s face at 2:18. He was always the more reserved reactor so seeing him get genuinely into something was great. And that wasn’t a knock against him, it’s the benefit of a group reaction, different views add contrast and variety.
Knowing the sound is coming and waiting to see Eric’s reaction to it is one of the highlights of a new series of Doctor Who reactions. Every. Single. Time.

Chibnall did keep it. Moffat introduced an effect to it but still kept the same sound. It hasn’t changed the original sonic sound since 2005
