Sorry man but Toei has changed. Japan is pandering to children nowadays with their anime. Dragon Ball Super barely has any blood in it but flashing lights for the cool effects. At the same time, they are shoving huge teddies on every women just to get guys started on seeing real life girls.
Gone are the days of anime showing how serious it is by showing blood and severeness of certain attacks. Everything is toned down so it doesn't become too graphic but the reality is that these guys are just changing what the artist truly wanted to be.

In the anime version of this fight, Akainu kinda felt disrespected and weak. There WB had a menacing moment when he popped at Akainu's back and Akainu kinda felt back but clearly here he doesn't. WB also looked buff in the anime, when he first punch him, Akainu's body literally warped absurdly, again here he ddn't. And the most important part is that toei censored when Akainu's literally blasted nearly half of WB's face and brains. In the anime its just like a meh moment like 'ok u did ur best'. But in the manga Akainu was really wild.

Yes, now I realise that I underrated Admirals. All I needed was Green Bull's appearance after ACOC's introduction to realise that. Gotta admit though, it's mainly Anime's fault for deceiving and playing with absurd plot holes like that. Cause Kizaru could have killed G2 Luffy in marineford like 1000times and that's a fact. And it would have been a piece of cake for him. Anime also made it look like WB beat Akainu. Marineford had many plot holes. Crocodile himself is a walking plot hole. Base Luffy beats him in Alabasta and in marineford he stands up against Admirals without getting one shotted. Marineford was a mess. Haki was not shown at all. So it was hard to precisely powerscale admirals...
I have still heard some claims that they are below Yonkos. Still not sure where they power scale at. Since WB was old and wounded... Def above 1st Yonko commanders. I guess even that depends on the Admiral / commander. 🤷 It's still complicated. Cause Marco managed to held off Kizaru. And Jozu played with Aokiji for some time. P.S. I think because people hate on Akainu they forget that he was the main reason Whitebeard died. He literally put two gaping holes in the man and before that he was able to easily block Whitebeard's attack with his foot.

If I were the animation director, I'd have most of what was animated the same but have the part were Akainu was stunned with that 'Hes right behind me right?' scene and make it look more accurate that Shirohige surprised attacked him and let it continue the same way. The part when he attacked his face, I'd have it be burnt up as to be as accurate as the manga shows and then let it proceed with the part were Shirohige slaps him away. As usual, have Shirohige walk towards a fallen Akainu as usual from the dust with an intimidating glare with shining red eye piercing through the dust which would be like about 2-5 seconds but still a bad ass frame. Then as usual have Akainu Hell Hound him to catch the viewers off guard with that surprise retaliation. Then as usual I'll have the Marineford be destroyed but show Shirohige's other eye being slightly teared up for more emotion. Comment down your thoughts.

If it was fresh WB, Akainu was easily stomped anyways. Even if you look closely after final attack of WB, no offense to Akainu, but as an admiral he should be at least needed to be standup, instead fell down, as you can see in manga he looks total knockout and weak and fell into the hole, if he was endurable enough he would've continued. People praising his durability but it isn't true. Also he cowardly went to the other way instead of coming back for WB. He was totally lost, I don't say Akainu is weak, he might be one of the strongest characters in the OP. But it also true that Whitebeard won.

Akainu only got hit by WB twice and was M.I.A for 2 chapters. While WB went on to neg BB. They both hit each other twice and look at the different. Akainu only reappears after WB dies too.

What I like here in the manga is that you can see Whitebeard just allowing Akainu to strike him. In the anime, right before he unleashed hellhound, it was like what is going on here.

Only One Piece fans say this stupid shit. A guy loses a fight but you point to the winner's injuries and what happened AFTER the fight as if that's relevant. "He got jumped" WB was way more injured before the fight and after hitting Akainu, Akainu is probably still in much better condition. Losing despite being in a better condition is a disgrace no matter how you spin it. Wb could've easily just killed Akainu when he was down and incapacitated. If you show this fight to a person who has never seen One Piece, all of them would say WB won and is clearly stronger (even if you don't tell them that WB was already heavily injured before the start of the fight). It's possible in real life too, just that one side of the body is weaker and it causes vision loss. Ahad Israfil is an example of a person who was able to live a normal life despite half of his brain blown off by a gunshot injury.

Leave these discussions out. Whitebeard at the Marineford is old, have cancer or some sort of very bad sickness, can barely move left and right and can't even use Haki, let alone King's Haki. Akainu on the other hand is in his prime. A comparison of the two from a "who would've won" is meaningless.

What I like about in the manga version, is that you can tell Whitebeard is allowing Akainu to hit him, right before he gets the last laugh. In the anime, that fiery scene right before Akainu used hell hound, I was like "what is going on?"

If Akainu was more ruthless, at that distance when Whitebeard was kneeling down, he could have just washed and melted Whitebeard's entire body with lava awakening. He probably showed a lot of mercy.

Wow I didn’t think the fight was THIS different. I thought it’d be somewhat but damn. I didn’t think that akainus 2nd major punch to Whitebeard was filler entirely. And how equal in strenght they seem to be here too.
I like how people like the anime version because they just wanna downplay the admirals, too bad it’s filler and not going to be used. Manga Akainu dominated whitebeard in their confrontation. He stepped on his weapon with both of his hands in his pockets, clashed evenly with the gura gura no mi and puts a hole through his chest. Akainu could have killed him that time since whitebeard was on his knees that time but of course our plot armor saved the great man. Second fight, Akainu was busy fighting Marco and then whitebeard came out of nowhere and punched Akainu in the back of the head with a quake punch. Akainu ate it under the circumstances of not being aware that whitebeard is there and as you can see, he seemed very well fine in the manga. And then he counter attacks with a brutal attack that basically ended whitebeard’s chances at survival. Akainu is no joke.
In One Piece its never really a good idea to make powerscaling. There are just too many things to consider. WB's sickness, the insane sword injury he had at the begining and 267 sword wounds, 152 bullets, 46 cannon blasts. How exactly do you take these into account while making a comparison? Its just impossible. And we can see how vibrant and lively WB was in the flashbacks. At the Marine HQ he mostly just stood still and finally moved by the flame ignited within him by Ace's death. Obviously none of this takes away the Akainu's insane power. Unless you are logia yourself, fighting against Akainu is just... Idk. Unimagineably dangereous. Smallest mistake and he can just wipe half of your body. Anywho, my point is, we should just ignore the powerscaling arguments.

If I were the animation director, I'd have most of what was animated the same but have the part were Akainu was stunned with that 'Hes right behind me right?' scene and make it look more accurate that Shirohige surprised attacked him and let it continue the same way. The part when he attacked his face, I'd have it be burnt up as to be as accurate as the manga shows and then let it proceed with the part were Shirohige slaps him away. As usual, have Shirohige walk towards a fallen Akainu as usual from the dust with an intimidating glare with shining red eye piercing through the dust which would be like about 2-5 seconds but still a bad ass frame. Then as usual have Akainu Hell Hound him to catch the viewers off guard with that surprise retaliation. Even if you look closely after final attack of WB, no offense to Akainu, but as an admiral he should be at least needed to be standup, instead fell down, as you can see in manga he looks total knockout and weak and fell into the hole, if he was endurable enough he would've continued. Wow I didn’t think the fight was THIS different. I thought it’d be somewhat but damn. I didn’t think that akainus 2nd major punch to Whitebeard was filler entirely. And how equal in strenght they seem to be here too.
I like how people like the anime version because they just wanna downplay the admirals, too bad it’s filler and not going to be used.
Manga Akainu dominated whitebeard in their confrontation. He stepped on his weapon with both of his hands in his pockets, clashed evenly with the gura gura no mi and puts a hole through his chest. Akainu could have killed him that time since whitebeard was on his knees that time but of course our plot armor saved the great man.
Second fight, Akainu was busy fighting Marco and then whitebeard came out of nowhere and punched Akainu in the back of the head with a quake punch. Akainu ate it under the circumstances of not being aware that whitebeard is there and as you can see, he seemed very well fine in the manga. And then he counter attacks with a brutal attack that basically ended whitebeard’s chances at survival. Akainu is no joke.
In One Piece its never really a good idea to make powerscaling. There are just too many things to consider. WB's sickness, the insane sword injury he had at the begining and 267 sword wounds, 152 bullets, 46 cannon blasts.
How exactly do you take these into account while making a comparison? Its just impossible. And we can see how vibrant and lively WB was in the flashbacks. At the Marine HQ he mostly just stood still and finally moved by the flame ignited within him by Ace's death.
Obviously none of this takes away the Akainu's insane power. Unless you are logia yourself, fighting against Akainu is just... Idk. Unimagineably dangereous. Smallest mistake and he can just wipe half of your body.
Anywho, my point is, we should just ignore the powerscaling arguments.
