Back to the wood - Mametz wood

The 38th (Welsh) Division suffered heavy losses while driving German forces out of Mametz Wood as part of the Battle of the Somme.

Thank you for posting this Mark, my great grandfather and his two brothers took part in the initial attack with the 16th Welsh, Cardiff City Battalion.
We were a very lucky family they all survived that day, his two brothers being wounded, and by some miracle they all survived the war.
