- Anisa Mirza is CEO/Cofounder at Giveffect, the #1 Nonprofit Software. At PlatziConf Bogotá 2019 she shared her method to build and grow a successful company without relying only on fund-raising.
If you overcome the fear of getting punched in the face every time someone says no to your product or service, then you will be able to do non-stop sales until you are profitable, growing and without investor control.

Do you know what’s 10-1000x more expensive than hiring an employee? A co-founder. If you can push through it alone, you have a huge amount of additional leverage a year or two down the line. It comes down to a personal choice.
An exceptional and phenomenal presentation on bootstrapping! Mandatory for every startup founder on the planet..!
Hi
The best ending I could have expected for. What I was needing to take the next step. Thanks.}
She's amazing and smart. Thanks for sharing it!!
These are mostly Product Management knowledge but it comes back to her first and most important point which is to assemble a well-rounded team. If you are just a team of developers, get a very competent Product Manager. Don't bother with loud and always-on-Red-Bull junior POs/PMs. Not every 21 year-old Zuckerberg-wannabe out there is worth your time and effort. Anisa is obviously an exception, a rarity rather than a common occurrence.
Very rational and smart. The subject matter aligns with the title.
Great presentation. Thank you for sharing!
Wow! This seems good! The best educational material on bootstrap startups after Rob Walling book "Start small Stay small" and after same his interview to Loius Grenier in 2018 and another one off his podcast, out on 2015 called "Steady step approach to bootstrap". But this one in addition has form of great entertaining video!
Thanks for those references!
Thanks! Truly helpful.
Awesome! Loved it!
Excellent video, best one I have seen in awhile
Thanks for this presentation
Very impressive!
Looking to build an electronic lab book for scientist, i really needed to hear that. Awesome talk, awesome personality. Will maybe even sign up for you product for a non profit working in Nepal.
@@BeFourCM yeah, but the physical device is just the iPad. So it's 100 % software, that maybe understands some file formats of a few devices.
Bro, I didn’t know there was a Platzi Conf.
Loved it.
Doing y combinator is not bootstrapping and is outside funding I don’t understand the whole premise of this entire lecture
She said they want through Y Combinator 2015 batch. But I dont think they got any funding there. I think they pitched and nobody invested
@@FranzAllanSee y combinator always invests if you are accepted. That’s part of the terms. Maybe they didn’t raise money AFTER y combinator, but they still raised money
I tried to find some more information on this, only crunch base said they raised but did they really received? She was stating clearly in this presentation that they didn’t receive any funding though….
@@duyenle327 it’s part of the y combinator deal. If you get in the program, they give you money
@@chrisharrisglobalthat doesn’t mean there isn’t a way to get out of it. I also think they might only match funds or something like that.
I love how there was silence after the first joke :D
Golden Nuggets!
Best one.
But if u went to YCombinator, is it still bootstrapping?
YC like any accelerator is sort of a course, it gives you a knowledge and connections. And an option to pitch your startup before investors in the end. So if you are not pitching at the end, then you end up with you just finished a startups school.
So yes, you remain bootstrap type of startup.
@@MA-channel1 no .. that's not how it works ... YC will invest 100K intialy (after acceptance) in your startup way before demo day (for 10 or 15% of the company) ..

From the very beginning, business owners face the challenge of financing their business. At this point, there are two options. Start-up financing strategy and so-called Bootstrapping or investment. Each of these options has its advantages and disadvantages. But which one is right for you? Bootstrapping or Fundraising?

By asking these questions and trying to get the right answers, Ratiba Group helps correct business performance. In this way, the skills and experience of the experts will help the managers and entrepreneurs of the collection to make better choices for the company’s capital financing strategy. As we said, choosing the method of financing is ultimately a decision that the entrepreneur and the founder of the company must make. However, this choice is made according to the conditions and goals of the company, which requires data analysis, evaluation and expert opinion.
What wrong about Freemium?
My founders and i*
I felt she was yelling at the crowd..imagine someone speaking in Spanish in full volume in Newyork
Keep your feelings to yourself will ya ... The presentation was nothing short of amazing and you probably would never stand in stage and delivery half of the performance as she did
Is it me or this girl is very attractive
(bootstrapped != YC Combinator)!!! wtf??
Never start a presentation with "I'm gonna apologize in advance..."
...and mentioning "coke" in a speech...great spokesperson though
More motivational than pragmatic.
you killed my freemium :D probably a good thing.
The speech sounds like a combination of the $100 Dollar Startup and The 10X Rule
Interesting, a “bootstrapped startup with no external founding of any kind” that went through YC which always invests in their companies as a condition for joining the batch. 😂
welcome to Founders' world
Great quote, but I highly doubt she really wanted to be a boxer 😂🥊😅
