After twenty years, I just take it as it comes. If it’s busy, it’s busy and if it’s quiet, it’s quiet. You expect a busy night and you’re twiddling your thumbs. You expect a quiet night and you’re run off your feet. The start of the week is jumping, then it tails off, or the week starts quiet, then it takes off. As you say, it balances out over the week. There’s no rhyme or reason to it.

Frightening low levels at the moment. Feels almost as bad as when the Olympics were on.

I guess that the more financially secure a driver is, a slow, low earning shift matters a lot less?
Could you set a target for 5 days work, and if you have made more than that target in 4, take the next day day off?
In theory yes… but the reality is… if you fall short of the target… how would that make you feel… what if it takes 6 days to earn 5 days money?
I just go by days and hours… I never count my money during my shift
