Your right Trevor. I should have checked my own specifications page before opening my big mouth. Cheers for the clarification! www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/holden_HR_technical_specifications
@@UniqueCarsandParts They came out with the Poverty spec Low Compression 161, with a three speed no synchro in 1st manual gearbox, the 186 and the 186S.
I grew up with HRs everywhere and they looked OKish without being special. Pardon the pun. But now all of a sudden, having not seen them for years, they look like a Vaxhaul which I think were also for sale at the time. Neighbor had one of these, same colour and Premier. Bought brand new, it had a vibration when driving that they couldn’t fix. They swapped pistons, crankshaft, everything, and ended up getting it blue printed in an attempt to sort out the vibration. Turned out to be a dodgy tyre! So he got a blueprinted engine. He drove it until 1974 when he bought an HJ premier to replace it. Rust on the doors had to be cut out once even within those eight years. These cars really rusted in the doors. We had an XP Falcon wagon at the time. 144 ci of power and grunt. Turbo smooth power Holden...yeah, right!
That’s a great car pat you have keeped it very well ,TED
Pat, its a real credit to you.
My first car was one of these same colour Loved it BRIAN
They are nice cars, reminds me of my white HR Premier ute I bought in 1972 from PtAugusta. It had the black interior.

My Dad had a brand new 67 HR and in 1981 I bought a HR which had a 2 speed auto and bucket seats. Best reliable car I ever had.
" the " hoted up hr holdens were popular too with chrome rims and mirrors and " kenny waggot " used to do " hot cams " for them !" 😊
Nice Premier, had a white one the same, 186 were a great engine, bored to 192 with triples, even better.
Excellent, great Australian classic/legend
Put a set of extractors -instant sports car!

Hey Steve, you might be on your own there, but thanks for the comment
Love the adds! intrigued as to how they got the cars so close to the cliffs edge, looking at the very rocky surface, thats a story in itself!
Loved your review and the original commercials! Thanks.

I just wanted to see what the car looks like cause we had a lot of accidents in these cars in NZ
When did Australians start saying ‘hood’?
Don’t believe 179 is better that 186. I had both.
" hr was designed by " a women " stunning car " with power brakes 👏 👌 !" 😊

Yeah doors and front guards above the wheel rusted out.
Interviewer asks "can we have a look under the HOOD".......where's the hood on an Australian car?? FYI it's a bonnet in this country you dh.
Point taken Elizabeth. Maybe I have watched too much American television.
