    I watch all his vids. Because of his vids,I planted Star Grass ( Heteranthera zosterifolia) from seeing it cover large areas of clear streams. In a week from the internet it came pale green, stretched out... I cut the stems in halves or three....stuck them in the sand and its now looking green and going strong. His vids also got me to add several Nymphia species. Looking forward to more.

    Wow, great video as always George. I really enjoyed the chat about sitting down and observing the tank and how it helps induce a feeling of escape and communing with nature. I get that feeling when I watch my tank but never have been able to put it into words. My wife and kids will often say “why do you just sit there and watch your tank for so long”. Now I will be able to articulate the feeling it gives me better so that they can understand the peace and enjoyment I get from it. Thank you.

    Hi George, great video and follow up from the tank scape. The rambling session was really informative and a real insight to the natural habitat of the fish in their normal everyday surroundings. When you see the fish at the local store in the small tanks , it’s difficult to realise where they live and the size of the shoals that they swim around in, so great to see Tai’s small videos. I’m sure his family will take great care of the new setup and it will be great to see a future follow up on its progress. All the best as ever mate, Martin

    Beautiful tank and it was a great conversation. I really enjoyed some of your points with biotopes, and the comments on how enjoyable it really is to just sit and watch a well done tank. When we mimic nature and bring examples of it into our home to connect with the wider natural world, that really is why I love this hobby.

I always love hearing Tai talk about the fish in nature its always fascinating! Cheers George and Tai for a great video!

Yes, please do an update, but also George, can you just plan on interviewing him EVERY January from now on??? We need more from him. So informative and he also seems like a really good hobbyist, a great professional and an all around good person. Thank you both.... from the Land Of Enchantment... I bid you.... Great point about temps for tanks. For example I keep rainbow fish and the generic temp you find online is 26/27c. But listen to the likes of Gary Lange and he recommends lower around 23c

    interesting talk, rally enjoyed it. thanks George, for making many great points. like crypts can melt when moved.. i bought 2 large ones and they withered away, and i pulled out my hair and couldnt find out why by research.. so thats why i well almost killed off a very hardy plant.
    Would be interesting to see how the tank does in 6months? cross my fingers you will be up for that, i love the low tech aspect.
    my low tech 360l tank has many of the same plants, especially a gorgeous 'easy tropica' trident kind of plant, windelöw, struggled and is dead now sadly. i was told it needs co2 to thrive, not just liquid fertilizers, agrh i loved it so much. id love to see if the other trident in his tank will do alright.

    Amazing interview ..please do more with Tai. Following on from your comments about taking it further into action could you suggest NGOs to support that are protecting freshwater habitats in Brazil? I realise that under Bolsonaro the natural environment and NGOs in Brazil are both under pressure and need support. I also wondered about using our tanks to conserve species (plants and fish) is this helpful or possible?

      Hey David, put the DOI of this article into Research Gate or Sci Hub or just email the authors for a copy: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/faf.12097
      NGO wise, I would say organisations like the World Land Trust, or others that aim to conserve areas of forest (rather than specific species) are a good way to go. Organisations like Wetlands International or the Alliance for Freshwater Life are also worth supporting!

    Looking at things up close triggers the parasympathetic pathway of the third cranial nerve. This antagonizes sympathetic response associated with stress... So I guess we were designed in such a way that we feel the need to spend some time looking at our aquariums at the end of every day

    Hey George! Such a huge fan of your work on UA-cam, and in the hobby. I'm over here in America trying to plan properly for a 29 gallon planted aquarium. You're videos have helped tremendously in my quest for a beautiful, naturally scaped aquarium. Quick question, if you get a chance to read this and answer it; are you able to get plants to flourish in the areas you desired so elegantly through trimming? Or is it that you're already privy to what way they will grow? Namely when I plan my scape should I be more focused on trimming, or actual plant size to fill the areas I'm looking for it to fill?

    • @GeorgeFarmerStudios
      @GeorgeFarmerStudios 4 роки тому +1

      My best advice it to just plant with what you like the look of and figure it out as you go. Learn from any mistakes, try new plants
      and keep practicing 👍

      That usually happens when the stand is leaning to one side. The water looks level at the top of the tank though? Hopefully it's just the doors that are off. We all know what happens when a larger tank isn't level.😬😬😬

      It was...but even though it was 'low tech', it became such an out of control jungle as it didn't get maintenance for 6 months at a time...wanted something 'fresh and simple' while I'm out of the country, I think George did a great job of creating that! Once the plants grow in, it will look jungly again :)
