Resonators do NOT go at the "back", they must be close to the frequency source since they simply cancel out power-stroke frequency. Mufflers, alternatively, needs to be as far away from the noise source to be the most effective. It's why resonators are immediately behind the catalytic convertors and Mufflers are at the tail-end of the vehicle. I think folks should do a little research before making videos, as they may be inadvertently spreading misinformation.

It's been raining nonstop in Washington State for the last month +. I know I'll notice an even bigger difference once I throw a tune on it because currently I'm running a stock tune with shorty headers, full exhaust w/ stock cats for now, BBK 85mm throttle body and Legmaker Hammer Intake.
I've had my BBK shorty headers on for almost a year now and I like the exhaust tone with magnaflow cat back exhaust. I had to go back to the speed shop because I had an exhaust leak. One of the header bolts became loose. All tightened up and backflow pressure and sound is good now.

Out of curiosity i am currently getting my headers installed. Should be a couple days before there ready. I already have an after market full flowmaster exhaust system. I got longtube pacesetter headers for my 2001 5.4v8 triton f150. Will it sound like a low deep rumble or a loud raspy type. I hope its not loud and raspy. Cause that would suck. Right now my exhaust system is a nice deep rumble so im hopeing that the headrs will make it sound deeper.
So i just completed the srt brembo swap on my r/t and was planning for the next mods. I was thinking of switching the gearing to 3.93 gears and adding headers. My question is, should I get Long Tube headers to have better top end on the shorter gearing or will there not be much of a difference if I choose to go with shorties?

Hi there. For a while I was using mopar oil filters. I went ahead and switched to a Bosche one and then replaced header gaskets. The sound is much quieter now but I can still hear slight valve train noise
Yea that 15 has the same stock exhaust as my 16. I recommend cutting out the mid mufflers entirely and replacing the resonators at the back with a straight thru type muffler. This way you make it loud and avoid drone somewhat

Not on equal ground. Microphone has to be in the same position for each test. Not one up high and the other closer to the ground to pickup the ground echo. Any sound engineer will tell you that. But I will give you, side by side all things equal, there is a difference.

You have the stock cats with the shorties right? That won't do much. If you got catless pipes with the shorties, that would help a ton. I personally have JBA shorties paired with JBA high flow mids on my 04 GTO

@@demented392rt5 So pretty much you have to know someone, my brother works in AutoZone and I think his commercial manager can have them shipped to his store , to be shipped to shops that work with AutoZone like muffler shop etc. that buy in bulk and something along those lines, the shop that’s buying have to sign a few Internet document saying that it won’t be put on vehicles that need to be tested for emissions and just a whole lot of malarkey , but pretty much if you know someone or now of a shop they’ll make the purchase for you and even do the installation but like I said you have to be on good terms because let’s say you get caught with them and they pry the information out of you if that’s even possible of where you got them installed and how you got them shipped to you you would be putting that location out of business so really you just have to know someone

The hemi tick is due to lifter failure it happens on all mds engines after a while . I Recently fixed mine when putting in a new cam I had the new lifters installed as well.

As you know, it’s pretty difficult to get parts in California that are CARB legal. A lot of things you CAN find though, like headers and intake. You kinda just have to search a lot. I’m sure the porting will be fine, and you can likely find a throttle body
Ya not at all a Fair comparsion :(. Assuming from the wording, you had your stock cats with the Shorties, you went Catless for the Long Tubes. Having just tried my car with stock heads, res delete and super 10s, removing just the cats makes the car insanely louder. This is not at all a fair comparison. Yes its louder for the LTs, because your pretty much straight piped. Not that LTs are not said to be louder, but being straight piped makes a larger diffrence than just swapping to LTs, I am assuming as removing cats makes a LARGE sound diffrence.

Didn't catch if you mentioned if they are 1 7/8s, or 1 3/4" and who makes them. I'm in the process of getting new racing wheels and drag radials for my Challenger, but it will be her next mod after that and is an expensive sport/hobby lol. Tires are so important thought because if we're spinnin we're not winnin as we all know, and will be so nice to finally be able to look. Even with 295s lowered, they still spin and is out of control with traction control off. So I'm getting some good ole sticky Mickeys in a 305, and can't wait to get them on the beast. It's still hard for me to fathom that hellcats come with 275s, and is totally insane lol. Demonology uploaded a vid of a header coating called jet hot yesterday afternoon, and had his kooks long tubes coated with it. Is actually reduces temps by 45%, and it is amazing stuff. Is designed for the aerospace industry and used to insulate rocket booster parts etc to shield them from excessive heat. His personal Mopar service tech was really impressed with it, as we all are. After watching the vid, l googled and found a set that are pre-coated and is what I'm going to do when I'm ready.. They are surprisingly inexpensive considering the coating is around $350, and you have to pay for shipping both ways when you have them done. Although I wanted 1 7/8, but these are 1 3/4 and is probably why they are such a great deal at a little over $1100. I have the link if anyone is interested, but it's for the 6.1 & 6.4 only though. I believe they are 1 3/4 which is what my tuner recommended. Yea man I'm trying to get tires next but between suspension, brakes, and tires (which everyone is bugging me about lol) stuff goes to well over 2 grand.

In my never-ending quest for more car goodies, I've noticed that alotta parts fit each other on various applications with the two. So far from what I've noticed when I've been looking, the exhaust is the same from the headers all the way to the back and come from the factory with the 2 7/8s" pipe on the SRTs. So they are already pretty fat considering exhaust systems are usually made out of around 2 1/2" on alotta V8s out there, but I still got rid of mine and went with 3in for even better flow as well as weight reduction anyway lol. Getting rid of those massive suitcase resonators and mufflers, was one of the first mods that we did and flos so much better now. A lot of guys have been straight piping and is an inexpensive way to go, but I wanted to replace the stock system altogether and flos so much better now

I really hope you didn't use the JBA gaskets they are very known for leaking. I used OEM SRT gaskets for my kooks headers haven't had any issues
I ended up using aftermarket ones because I was getting leaks with the mopar ones as well.

Only the 392s come with shorty headers style manifolds. The 5.7s come with dog-leg exhaust manifolds.

In my never-ending quest for more car goodies, I've noticed that alotta parts fit each other on various applications with the two. So far from what I've noticed when I've been looking, the exhaust is the same from the headers all the way to the back and come from the factory with the 2 7/8s" pipe on the SRTs. So they are already pretty fat considering exhaust systems are usually made out of around 2 1/2" on alotta V8s out there, but I still got rid of mine and went with 3in for even better flow as well as weight reduction anyway lol. Getting rid of those massive suitcase resonators and mufflers, was one of the first mods that we did and flos so much better now. A lot of guys have been straight piping and is an inexpensive way to go, but I wanted to replace the stock system altogether and flos so much better now
if you're going to do sound comparisons, you need to get a field recorder to capture the whole frequency spectrum.
