Excellent! I can report that the process is basically the same for the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. If you only knew how cheap I was, but THIS makes total sense to do yourself.
Nope, the 2019 Crosstrek is different just remember the airflow arrow faces down. Because the airflow comes from outside then the blower pushes the air in through your vents. ✌️
Thank you ... good that you included little challenges along the way and didn't edit them out. Even these "simple" jobs never go entirely smoothly in my experience.
I tried to follow the confusing owners manual, this video made it easy. After taking out the old filter I could not believe how dirty it was. Thanks much!
I had some debris in there making a racket, decided to see how much of a pain it would be to access. Thank to your vid, took me 45 seconds. Thank you so much!
Good video! I just changed my cabin air filter in my 2016 crosstrek and I had the same problem. I figured out that plastic wasn't big enough to "click in". it was just a hair small enough to slide by. So what i did was push in the air filter and pulled up so it could catch, then when I tried to gently pull on the filter it would move. If I wiggle it though it would be free again. I'm just wondering if it is crazy important for that click into place to be there or if the glove compartment helps keep it in. I'll do a check of mine in a few weeks to see if its still seated or not. The air filter was an STP Max Cabin air filter CAF1869M
Thank you for your straight forward instructional video. I changed out my wife's 2017 Crosstrek with ease. I used the NAPA Gold 4030 Enviroshield Cabin Air Filter and it clicked in place when I pushed it in.
Thanks for the video. Can you please tell me some info about the filter you ordered? Part number or something? I just bought one and it doesn't fit my Crosstrek.
There is a price to that cheap filter. Thats the fit. You have to call it good instead of it fitting correctly. How is the seal, does it seal the dust and debris out of the blower. Check the price on the blower next time, it will have you rethink your cheap filter strategy.

The Napa Gold filter is a really good filter.
Thank you so so much for taking the time to video this. I have a 2016 and it was the exact same procedure. 😀

I don’t know what the part number is for the filter because the only time I have changed it was over 3 years ago when I made this video.
Thank you!! Video was very helpful

Bro its $20 for the factory cabin air filter and 14 for the engine air filter.
...cool...
Thanks!
Easy maintenance project anyone can do.
Thanks
No problem. :-)
For better video lighting while working buy a cheap head lamp
I have one already, but it's very distracting when using it in a video.
