Ich war selber Panzergrenandier! So etwas habe nié erlebt! Mir wurde in einem Manöver nie erklärt warum ich dort war, was geplalt ist, wo der Feind ist, wer der Feind war oder wie es weiter geht! Wenn sich die Bundeswehr seit meiner Dienstzeit so weiterentwickelt hat, mein Respekt! Allerding mir fehlt der Glauben!
Also ich war 88/89 bei den Panzergrenadieren und wir haben IMMER von unserem Gruppenführer die Lage übermittelt bekommen. Immer...absolut wesentlich für dem "Kampf".
Ich hab's nie anders erlebt und auch selbst so gemacht. Allerdings nicht so schön. Nur mit Tannenzapfen und Zweigen
Zeitsoldaten haben mehr Zeit und betreiben das als Beruf, deshalb mehr Focus...Außerdem wurde sicher einiges weiterentwickelt..
Bei uns im SAN Regiment ,vor 20 jahren war nur Schutzenrudel laufen ,ich hatte aber keine weiteren Ausbildungen bei der Bundeswehr gemacht ,nur die Grundausbildung da war es auch aus Finanziellen Gründen nicht erstrebenswert zu Dienen wie heute ,heute hat man bei der Bundeswehr in der Berufslaufbahn gute Aufstiegschancen und Ausbildungen und sehr Moderate Löhne, als wie vor 20 Jahren

@@BTBconcept not only for training? I could imagine that in a live combat situation this behaviour would be highly counterproductive. The gunner is factually unarmed in this time frame.
@@juanzulu2755 You are right. In combat it is not usual to take the belt out of the weapon.
These are measures our soldiers just have to do when training in the
Field, so theres no accidental discharge in any direction, because literally shit happens when it happens. 😄
a left over from the old MG3. Their mechanical safties were so fucked over the years, it was safer to unload the weapon before you move.

Is the MG3 the exact copy of the mg42 but different cartridge.
not really. They´ve changed a few further details. For example the muzzle (break), the anti aircraft ironsight is included, the upper receiver has changed, the system-cover can be fitted in it´s position and so on and so on. But at least, the setting of the system is the same.

Werden MG5 und MG4 den Schützentrupps nach einem festen Konzept zugeteilt oder geschieht das zufällig? Außerdem, wie ist das Verhältnis der beiden MGs im Bataillon?
Zahlen wurden mir auch auf Nachfrage nicht mitgeteilt. MG3 hatte ich vor Ort nicht gesehen. MG4 und MG5 waren innerhalb der Trupps immer so verteilt, wie hier im Film zu sehen: 1 MG4, 1 MG5 und mehrere G36. Ich hatte drei Durchläufe begleitet.

It is recruits in basic training. Your drill seargeants let you run around unsuperwised in exercises?
Before you can start riffing and doing your own thing, you first need to learn basic structures of working in a bigger group.
Keep in mind, the Bundeswehr isn't a 100% professional army like the US Army or Marines.
They officially still have the draft. They don't really draft anyone the classical way anymore nowadays, but those recruits and privates are just dudes who do a 3 to 12 month (depending on their chance to get a job as a soldier) boot camp and even among those who want to stay and become professional soldiers, most get rejected and sent home after that year because there is only a relatively small number of open slots to fill.
It isn't like with the US Army or Marines, that you make the choice that that is your career and then you just stick with it for 10 years or longer.
The point being, 99% of those young dudes are just there for 3 to 12 months of basic training and then fuck off again to start civilian careers.
You're not looking at dedicated full blown soldiers who chose to do that as long as possible and are years into it.
Most of those guys have just learned how to put on their uniform and use their weapons a few months ago.
Over 20 years ago, when I was at drafting age, basic training was still 24 months. It is stupid that nowadays, with them having to handle more complicated equipment, they only get half the time for basic training.
Another problem is that budgetary limitations caused them to focus more on the use of elite units. What I mean is they groom some units for maximum readiness to be there if they need to sends someone to Afghanistan, or some place like that and they neglect the wide base of regular units to some extend.
There are the socalled "EGB" units. EGB stands for "Erweiterte Grund-Befahigung", which translates to "Expanded Basic Qualification".
It is basically the German version of Army Rangers.
Every regular soldier, no matter whether it is a infantryman or a cook in a submarine, can apply for EGB school. They have to pass some physical and other tests and if they pass, they become EGB soldiers and get additional training. That includes paratrooper and airborne training, because all EGB soldiers are paratroopers, again, independently of what they did before.
Those guys get proper training on an internationally competitive level. They are basically semi-special-forces and they get contracts for 5 to 10 years, as far as I know. Could be 6 to 12 years, not sure.
Of course, they operate on a whole other level from those 12 months basic training recruits.
@@ligamabawls1073 Thanks for the explanation. Neat to hear a detailed explanation of how y'all do it. I didn't know this was basic training, I thought it was just a field exercise by a unit in the operating forces.
And no, even in our basic training, your squad leader does not tell you what exact spot to go to each time you make a rush. You make your own decisions on what piece of microterrain you're going to rush to, as long as you don't run in front of anyone else. We are taught a loose, basic timeframe for how long your rush should be (long enough for you to say in your head, "I'm up, he sees me, I'm down") but the squad leader does not set specific points to rush to the way this one did, unless there's some kind of extenuating circumstance. That's what I was asking about being standard practice or if that was just that one squad leader's particular way of doing things.
@@CrowDawg11 One thing I forgot to mention: If this weren't basic recruit training but a exercise for advanced troops, they would be wearing those laser sensors and train with actual opposition and casualty simulation and all that.

Normally the Bundeswehr prides itself on a "flat command structure" and on giving low ranks as much autonomy as possible.
It is a tradition dating back from Wehrmacht days, where this was a distinguishing characteristic they did differently from most other armies.
Most Allied armies, including the Russians, still did that "leapfrog"-thing, where the prime tactic was to get as many of your soldiers as close to the enemy as possible, by letting half of them run forward while the other half covers and you do that till you are close enough to throw hand grenades or use submachine guns and all that.
For that they always tried to form the biggest units possible and the separation into squads and other smaller units was more for logistical use than actually meaning much in combat.
The squad leader and other lower ranks were basically just there to convey commands from command to their men, but had little autonomy.
After the Korean War, some retired US Army Collonel conducted a study to improve infantry combat performance. It was known that in WW2 and the Korean War, statistically only about 10% of infantrymen ever shot at the enemy. Most kept their heads down and assumed the others would do it for them.
The Wehrmacht hat much "better" numbers in that regard.
That study was supposed to find out why and how to get those numbers up.
He found that the difference was in squad tactics and in the fact that the Wehrmacht was operating in smaller groups.
They of course also pooled squads in larger groups for bigger battles, but gave them more autonomy and rather vague commands. They operated more on a "We need to take this village. You take the left flank and see what you can do."-basis, which is probably what you are talking about from your own experience.
The reason was that they organized everything around the machine gun.
The German infantry was organized in 10 man groups. That whole 10 man group was basically just one big machine gun fire team. 3 men were tasked with operating the MG directly, one gunner, one assistant gunner/loader and one guy just to carry ammo and run back and forth, getting more ammo.
The other 7 guys were just there to protect the MG and prevent it from being flanked. Everything else they did, like sneaking forward and throwing grenades, or something like that, was just secondary.
That is also why the high rate of fire and ammo consumption of the MG42 wasn't that much of a problem. You had 10 guys carrying ammo and spare barrels for it and one guy who's only job it was to run back to the next supply stack and get more.
So they rarely did that "leapfrogging" thing and rather stayed at a distance, focusing on supression fire and then sent a few guys forward, or calling in air and artillery support, while the MG mostly stood where it was.
That probably sounds familiar to you, because nowadays most modern armies do it that way. That is a result of that study they conducted.
One seemingly small but actually very important difference between the Wehrmacht and other armies was that casualties were replaced from within the group. If a squad leader got killed in a US or British unit, he got replaced by a new guy. That had the disadvantage that unit cohesion and morale suffered, because the new guy was a stranger and had to earn the respect of his men and learn their strengths and weaknessses and all that.
In Wehrmacht units, losses were always replaced from within the group. If the corporal died, the most experienced guy from the group got advanced to the rank of corporal and so on. The only new guys coming into the group were fresh recruits who got trained by the group and became part of it. The group leaders were never replaced with strangers.
That contributed to group cohesion and formed the units into tightly knit groups, where soldiers would see each other as family and be willing to kill to protect their buddies, which is the main reason for why Wehrmacht soldiers shot at the enemy more than other armie's soldiers at that time, according to statistical studies.
Of course friendships developed in every army and every kind of group, but they were more lose in most Allied armies, because there was more fluctuation, wil people and units being swapped and shuffled around and constantly being incorporated into bigger units.
Long story short, when you are 1 out of 1000 guys storming a position, you are more likely to keep your head down and assume that the other 999 guys will do the job. When you are 1 out of 10 and have fought alongside those other 9 guys for years, you will try harder to keep them alive and take more risks.
Other advantages of the Wehrmacht model were that it was better suited for close air support and combined arms operations. When you call in air- or artillery strikes on an enemy position, doing the leapfrog thing, where the whole goal is to get as many men as close to the enemy as possible, isn't the best tactic, of course.
The German method also kept casualties down, which is why the Wehrmacht even all the way to the last few unwinnable battles at the end, had surprisingly low casualty numbers and was able to always cause more casualties than it endured.
So as a result of that study, they incorporated a lot of that Wehrmacht doctrine into the US armed forces and as a result the "fire for effect" ratios went up drastically in Vietnam.
The Wehrmacht also was kind of forced to leave as much autonomy to low ranks as possible, because they simply had to. Often communications were interrupted or compromised. During the first half of the war, they operated in enemy territory with every farmer potentially reporting every troop movement to someone and in the latter half of the war they had lost air superiority, curriers often were lost or delayed and radio encryption was limited because every enemy, the Western Allies in the west and the Russians in the east, had a lot of people speaking German and being able to listen in.
So throughout the war, the Germans needed to be as unpredictable as possible and a rigid, top-down command chain was simply not an option.
The modern Bundeswehr stuck with the "let the boots on the ground figure it out"-doctrine because they were expecting a giant Red Army onslaught during the Cold War, in which many units would be overrun, cut off and forced to fight behind enemy lines.
You can see the effects of that thinking in little details, like for example that the MG3 uses non-desintegrating ammo belts, that can be reloaded by hand and are multi-use, instead of disintegrating belts. Or that they never used gas turbines for their tanks and instead a very rugged multi fuel diesel engine, which can burn all sorts of fuels and in theorgy could even run on old deep frying lard and olvive oil out of a restaurant kitchen.
Only recently that "everything needs to be able to do hit and run attacks behind enemy lines" approach got softened up. The MG4 and 5 now use disintegrating belts.
But as I said, new recruits first need to learn how stuff is done and how to "read" a battlefield, before developing a gut feeling for it and doing everything automatically.
Also, the leader is the only one with all the information, so him conveying that information to everybody and telling them what possible positions there are and how they should be used, would be useful even when dealing with fully trained and experienced soldiers. Whether they later go exactly where he suggested or not, is a different question.
As they say, no plan survives first contact with the enemy anyways.
@@ligamabawls1073 Not correct. The Bundeswehr is a professional Army just like the US Army or Marines. There is an option to do voluntary military service for up to 23 months (variable), but that makes up only about 8,000 of the 183,000 soldiers in the german armed forces. The majority of troops is enlisted for 4 and sometimes 8 years (lower enlisted) and 12+ years (higher enlisted/SNCO equivalent). Soldiers who do voluntary military service under 12 months are unlikely to get trained for a combat role because it's not really worth it to train them extensively for such a short period of time in the force afterwards. Usally they go into POG positions in their bataillons.
The selection process you mentioned isn't for becoming enlisted but for becoming permanently enlisted until retirement. After serving 3+ years higher enlisted and officers can apply to become permanently enlisted until retirement. These make up about 54,000 of the 183,000 soldiers of the german armed forces. I'm not sure if there is a US-equivalent to that.

@@BadBonsai1 Ja, Fallsicherheit. War glaube ich 2015 bei Beschaffungsmustern, bei denen Änderungen an der Konstruktion vorgenommen worden waren!? Was mich so nervt bei uns ist, dass dieser Mangel bedingt durch konstruktionelle Änderungen längst behoben ist. Schon ein paar Tausend MG5 reibungslos in der Truppe ihren Dienst versehen, es keine bekannten Schwachstellen mehr gibt, aber diese bescheuerte Vorschrift immer noch besteht! Grundlos! Für den Übergang in der Optimierungsphase die richtige Entscheidung, solange diese Schwäche nicht rückstandsfrei beseitigt ist, aber jetzt totaler Unfug und man muss es trotzdem so weiter machen!

It's just an exercise so body armour would be unnecessary weight and expenses
@Kekistan Shitlord IDZ-ES Beschaffung ist umgeworfen, es gibt ein neues IDZ. Wird erstmal unter der Bezeichnung IDZ-ES Plus oder IDZ-ES K-Stand für die VJTF 2023 beschafft, danach für alle. Elektronischer Rücken fällt weg, neuer Helm ohne cuts und Plattenträger mit Hüftgurt statt Weste.

@@BTBconcept Ohne Mampf kein Kampf, damals wie heute. War 1989 mal zur freilaufenden Übung mit StUffz für fast eine Woche abkommandiert zu anderer Kompanie zum Schwimmbrückenbau mit meinem Kran, die haben uns nichts geben wollen. Er hat mir befohlen, die Arbeiten bis zur Verpflegung einzustellen, hat sehr schnell gewirkt!
Weiss jemand, warum die MG-Schützen vor dem Aufrichten und Laufen den Munitionsgurt aus dem MG entfernen?
Das sind die Auflagen zur Schießsicherheit auf dem Truppenübungsplatz. Im Gefecht wird das nicht gemacht.

Auf Übungsplätzen wird das wohl aus Sicherheitsgründen befohlen. In Gefechtssituationen ist das nicht üblich.

Ich weiß mittlerweile dass das Mg 4 eine Sicherung hat...... die Frage jedoch bleibt.
Im Gefecht ist das nicht üblich. Auf Übungsplätzen wird das meistens als zusätzliche Sicherungsmaßnahme befohlen.

Was bringt es zu schießen, wenn man die Einschläge nicht sieht, da wohl kaum scharfe Munition?! Wie erkennt man, ob der Gegner wirksam bekämpft wurde?
Außer der (blauen) Panzerfaust haben alle mit scharfer Munition geschossen. Auf dem Gelände gibt es Klappscheiben, die umfallen, wenn sie getroffen wurden.
Und selbst wenn man das Ziel nicht direkt sieht, dann hält das Feuer den Feind nieder, sodass man sich bewegen kann.
Warum nehmen die MG Schützen immer die Munition raus wenn sie laufen? Was wenn auf einmal eine Nahkampf-oder Mitteldistanzsituation kommt? Dann müssen die sofort schießen und könn au ned erst die munition reinlegen
Das wird eine Sicherheitsauflage des Übungsplatzes gewesen sein. Im Gefecht ist das nicht üblich.

Und da sage mal noch jemand, das sei hier tendenziöse und nicht authentische Berichterstattung. XD
Als ich 1997 meinen Grundwehrdienst machte, stand die damalige Version der Panzerfaust für uns Rekruten nicht zur Verfügung. Es kam wohl jemand zu Tode beim Umgang damit, wie es hieß.
Das kann schon sein. Bei Panzerfaust im scharfen Schuss mit dem Wachbataillon (ua-cam.com/video/g5IIlpuhgCQ/v-deo.html) musste ich Helm, Splitterweste und Schutzbrille tragen und zudem selbst in Deckung gehen. Hier wird die blaue Munition gezeigt, die zu Übungszwecken mit Gips gefüllt ist.

@@rainerzufall6245 Besonders kritisch ist der Rückstrahl. Deshalb rufen die auch immer erst "Rückstrahlzone frei". Bei MILAN gibt es nicht nur den Rückstrahl. Da fliegt sogar noch die große runde Hülle nach hinten.
Wobei man ehrlicherweise auch festhalten muss, dass wir in Deutschland generell übervorsichtig sind!! Sehe ich auch in meinem Berufsalltag! Selbst wenn Probleme längst abgestellt sind, wird noch an Bestimmungen draufgesattelt! Wenn sich irgendwo in den Abruzzen einer beim Apfelschälen in den Finger schneidet, wird bei uns sofort der Verkauf von Äpfeln gestoppt und das Krabbenpulen an der Nordsee verboten! Man kann problemlos neben einer Panzerfaust stehen wenn sie abgefeuert wird!! Muss man einfach nur mal die Schützen fragen😉😊 Und die Rückstrahlzone ist bei der Pzfst3 noch vorhanden, aber im Gegensatz zu ihrer Vörgängerin der "Leichten Pzfst" sehr gering! Deshalb ist die Pzfst3 in Wirklichkeit auch eingeschränkt zum Einsatz aus Gebäuden tauglich (Faktor Raumgrösse). Mit der LPzfst war das von vorne herein ausgeschlossen! War einer der Gründe damals für die Beschaffung! Wurde uns auf dem Lehrgang "Schießen mit Handwaffen für Reservisten" so beigebracht, als es um die Umschulung von G3 auf G36 und LPzfst auf Pzfst3 ging. Das bei zivilen Besuchern sehr strikt auf Sicherheit auch jenseits des physikalisch möglichen/wahrscheinlichen geachtet wird hat bei uns mit der Struktur des Verantwortlich seins, bzw wenn kann man Verantwortlich machen zu tun.

Auf Übungsplätzen ist das so üblich. Es gibt dann entsprechende Anweisungen des Übungsleiters. Im realen Gefecht wird beim Sprung normalerweise nicht entladen.
So,bei allem Lob usw....bitte mal vergleichen mit Legion, dt Fallis,US Infanterie, Brit. Infanterie oder Ukrainern! (Von mir ausgewählt weil ich diese Einheiten selbst beim Gefechtsschießen erlebt habe) Das was da läuft ist spazieren gehen mit Gesprächskreis und bissel ballern. Bei der Vorgehensweise brauchen die für 100 Meter gefühlt 10 Min. Ohne Feindfeuer. Da fehlt vermutlich die Gefechtserfahrung. Aber die dürfte ja bald vorhanden sein.

Einer ist schon IDZ eingerüstet und der andere hat noch die alte Ausrüstung. Neu in der Einheit wahrscheinlich.
Denke mal selbst besorgt, die neuen highcut Helme sind wesentlich angenehmer zu tragen und man kann dort unterschiedlichstes Gerät anbringen im Gegensatz zu den alten Lowcut Helmen
...zu meiner Zeit wurden die Waffen und das Gerät vernünftig abgelegt!!!
Ich hoffe wir ersetzen das Mg3 nie voll und jeder Zug behält mindestens 1 Mg3
MG3 sieht man in der Truppe kaum noch. Höchstens auf Fahrzeugen, aber auch dort wird es zunehmend durch MG5 ersetzt,.
@@BTBconcept so ein Bullshit. Ich hatte gehofft es noch schießen zu können wenn ich endlich meinen Wehrdiesnt ableiste. Das Mg3 aufzugeben ist wie wenn die US-amerikanischen Kameraden aufhören würden die M2 .50 cal zu benutzen. Wieso wird das Mg3 nicht kampfwert gesteigert? Picatinny rail, rauf 3 oder 4x und schon hat man das Distanzproblem gelöst. Stattdessen wird ein komplett neues MG beschafft. Typisch Beschaffungsamt.
@@shangri-leicht8923 MG5 ist 1) leichter und 2) besser zu handhaben (z.B. Rohrwechsel) und hat 3) eine bessere Optik.

@@shangri-leicht8923 Picatinny Schiene auf dem MG3 wurde versucht, funktionierte aber nicht wirklich. Die Schiene war auf dem Gurtzuführeroberteil montiert, welches beim MG3 nicht fest genug sitzt für eine Schiene. Die Optik verliert nach einem Feuerstoß den Haltepunkt.

Hatte ich vorher auch noch nicht gehört. Damit war das kleine Baum-Strauch-Areal zwischen Schützenpanzer und Ort gemeint.
Kuselgruppe ist die Bezeichnung für niedrige Sträucher/Bäume also alles dazwischen in der Bundeswehr ^^

Das MG3 war damals noch geil... ich halte von dem neuen Spielkrams , der meist nur noch Plastik ist, rein gar nichts. Allein mit dem G36 wurde mehr falsch gemacht, als irgendwelchen nutzen zu Schaffen. Aber das ist meine persönliche Meinung.
Am MG5 ist genauso viel Kunststoff wie amn MG3.
Das MG 42 ist immer noch das beste was man haben kann 😅
Nur das das MG5 genausoviel und besseren Kunststoff enthällt als das 3er. Und mit den G36 wurde in der damaligen Lage wenig falsch gemacht, heute haben sich allerdings die Anforderungen geändert.
Das G36 ist noch immer eines der besten Waffensysteme auf unserem Planeten!
Ich verstehe nicht ganz, was Sie gegen Polymer in Handfeuerwaffen haben. Stabiler als Holz oder gestanztes Metall und dazu auch noch verhältnismäßig leicht.

@@jonny2954 Am MG 3 sind gerade mal Schulterstütze und Griffschalen aus Bakelit...der Vergleich hinkt wohl etwas!
@@Felix-fy7ki Beim MG5 sind auch nur die Schulterstütze und der Handschutz aus Polymer. Der Vergleich hinkt aber in der Tat, das Gussstahlgehäuse des MG5 ist deutlich robuster und hat eine viel höhere Schussbelastung als das genietete Blech am MG3.
