"Are you going to live the way you want to?" Powerful words. In living our life as we want to and as who we ARE, we open ourselves up to a world of darkness, hate and violence. Simply because we will live our -- OUR -- life as who we are.
Experiences like this absolutely contributes to internalised homophobia, and when a person feels that kind of intense shame about who they are and who they love, it can absolutely lead to them going back into the closet and hiding their true selves. Everyone who identifies as non-straight has some sort of internalised homophobia - for many it's negligable and for others it is crippling. We grow up in a world/society that promotes heterosexuality as the norm and therefore, explicitly or implicitly, homosexuality is cast as 'other'. Growing up in that world is hard and even when you don't come face to face with homophobia, it can make it difficult to accept yourself and be proud of who you are. Personally, I'm really happy that Emmerdale are highlighting this type of coming out process and how much Luke has struggled. Ironically, it is exactly this kind of representation, on television and elsewhere in films and tv series' that is reducing the amount of internalised homophobia people deal with, by normalising it and representing the community.

I reckon a recast would create such a backlash even the current ED producers known for their moronic decisions would not do that. And they certainly wouldn't bring Robert back without the intention of reuniting him with Aaron at some point, and there is no Robron without Danny and Ryan together- the whole thing revolves around their amazing chemistry and the magic it creates.

In the real world, it would affect Robert's conviction for murder as the new evidence would indeed require a re-look at the case. That said, even if Robert wasn't the killer, he still committed ABH, so yeah, even in the real world he'd remain in prison for time, though not life.
Even if Luke tells one day the violent assault committed by Lee and how he shoved him by self-defence, it won't be enough to make Robert go out of prison. Probably it might shorten the sentence, but so far nothing is certain and an eventual trial could won't happen before long. It takes lots of time to reopen a case, make new investigations, included medical researches on Lee's cadaver to find out new evidences.

The writing is so bad nowadays, I really wish they'd sort it soon as, bringing back Maxine Alderton would work wonders, especially where Robron is concerned. It seems like they're trying to like phase him out like they did with Patty and many MANY other characters. I've honestley stopped watching so i'm not 100%sure what's going on all the time i usually have to use context clues or something...

They're actually gearing up for it based on the current writing. The mentions of Robert. When a character is not returning, but alive, they mentioning them in passing just to keep them aware. When a character is off canvas and they are being mentioned regular after not being mentioned for a lengthy period of time... that normally means the show is gearing up for a return - normally six months to a year prior. Then you have Aaron finally moving on. The pieces are pretty much there especially with the spoilers of Aaron saying he doesn't choose Robert... down the line he will always choose Robert.
I don't really watch emmerdale anymore since 2019 around the time Robert went to prison but I think there should be a story Based on robert and Aaron were Robert Breaks free from prison and go's traveling to find his long lost love and to fight for the last happy ever after.❤❤😌

This storyline annoys me. Just the fact that if a man previously dates a man it means he cannot date a woman and want to. It just so overused and I do get it, it is an important storyline. However they are always doing them. It creates a stereotype. People can be in a opposite-sex relationship before and after dating a same sex relationship without being unhappy in it. People can like more then one gender and sometimes people’s sexuality can change.

People still think gay and straight are the only sexualities and I don't understand why it's so hard for them to realise that gender isn't everything and you can potentially like more than one or none at all.
From what I've seen, there are people on both sides of the scale(gay and straight) who don't think fluid sexuality is a real thing. Just people who are still a bit in denial over who they really are. There was an episode of Will & Grace where Will(gay character) tried to convince a bisexual young man that he was actually gay, but hadn't yet completely accepted himself. It got some backlash.
You didn't understand what Luke went through since Lee tried to kill him after he came out to his brother. He broke up with Steven, the love of his life, whom he was in relationship with. Luke wanted to protect Steven because Lee was dangerous. But as Lee suddenly died, Luke felt somehow guilty but couldn't tell the whole story to his mother and of course to the police either. Luke was so traumatized by the fact his own brother wanted to punish him for being in love with another man that he decided to struggle against his own desires. Maybe he was straight before he met Steven. We'll probably never know all details, and it doesn't matter anyway. Because Luke has been loving Victoria for months and is faithful in his feelings to her. Probably they both had sex together several times, otherwise Victoria would have confess some frustration if nothing physical had happened with Luke. But unfortunately, Luke is not strong enough to stay focused on one single attraction. Plus, he's a young, fit and attractive man who can easily seduce everybody, women or men, and without using any dating app. But in 2021, lots of people are obsessed with virtual chats and fantasms.

Also, if the injuries Lee got from Luke were fatal, how was he able to walk about like nothing happened and why did he not have a scratch on him! Not to mention when this actually happened, Lee wasn't even in the show and when he was introduced he was straight, a retcon within a retcon, the current writers are the worse Emmerdale writers in the history of the show by a mile, this isn't even the first time they've done something like this!
