My experience: Actually you shouldn't use honey like that. I tried it out with different stuff. The honey is used in the watercolours to let them be floating on the paper (use just a bit. In your case, 3 drops?) and the Arabic gum is for the binding. Depending on the compilation of the different amount of Arabic gum and water, the pigments can dry really fast on spot while making the paint. Right now, I try to make a different Formula to make my own Arabic gum so, that I have more time mixing it. And If someone say, use honey instead, use just a bit ,or the texture won't dry. Use a lot of honey if you make lipstick or so. Well... I will now try out different types of binder. Wish me luck cause I'm a broke artist😅😢
I've been told that honey in the binding medium is meant to help the pigment in the lil' "cakes" transfer onto the brush when water is added. 🤔 In no way or form am I saying that I know more, since I've only once attended a lesson on making watercolors. There we used as a binding medium, a mixture of hot water, gum arabic and honey.
I suggest fruits with thinner rinds, like apples or pears, as oranges will just prune up and not have the colour or texture you want, good luck though!
I was a little worried only because this is the first time I've ever made ink and I wanted it to work out because its for my friend Edit: it is working so far its a very pretty maroon color
100% natural honey that are from the wild are the one honey that insects fear, natural honey can cause a heat on your stomach if they consumed excessively while the one from the stores are not
Thats a shame, since it is entirely possible to eat honey from sustainable sources without doing any harm all, just like the tribes and indigenous farmers in Sharmane's country have been doing for hundreds of years! And you preserve exactly zero bees by not eating honey thats already produced! But your intentions were good, bless your heart!
@@preston8531 Yes, such a shame in the area that I live in, some bees are actually harmed during honey harvesting. So if I can reduce demand on those honey and save one bee, I'll save one, while I search for the responsible keepers to support. And GOOD for Sharmane if her country is 100% humane and sustainable 👍
ANOTHER WARNING WHEN USING GLASS BOTTLES; MAKE SURE THEY'RE SUITABLE FOR HIGH TEMPERATURES. GLASS CAN LITERALLY EXPLODE
This is a great idea! I'm going to have to try some. Beautiful flowers and colors they produced! Thanks for sharing!

I love how you use stuff that are easy to find at home, thank you!
Yey! So we can all craft!
This is such a beautiful idea! One day I'll have an outdoor garden to try this with. 💜
Surely was a fun thing to try!
I love love love!! I already picked some of my flowers and have them in jars! Thank you! ❤️
Let me know how it goes!!
Sharmane Coquilla I sure will! Come to my channel. I’ll be posting !!
Does it oxideze quickly after a few days? for how long did the butterfly pea oxidezed?
Thank you for showing this!
Me watching this after it just snowed 6 inches 😭
Awhhh 😫 how about onion skins, of fruit peels? 😊

I know the the purple flower i have it in my yard and i just realized i have made so much ink when i was younger, because i wanted to make a potion 😂
what about hibiscus or gumamela flowers?
It's a really a great idea❤😀😀
Wouldn't they just go brown on the paper in a little while? Don't they need some kind of fixative? Surely the colour doesn't last?
Is daffodils a good flower to use?
I dont think so because the result would be very lightly pigmented.
@@Zoe-ou9pl I'd have to agree here, although depending on the size it could still be worth a try! Go for it!
does lavender work?? I don't have any of the flowers you used in my garden.
Based on the blogs i read any flower with color will work! I think i saw one video using lavender too. I'd love to have lavender in my garden hah

@@serenity-9825 exciting! i think the experiment is part of the fun!
Cool stuff.
I wanna do this but I don't have flowers at home. I usually paint then ran out of paint then I can't finish my painting.
😅
will the honey not cause bugs to want to eat the paper?
no issues with mine so far. Honey (100% pure) is also a natural antiseptic.

It didn’t last the ink turned brown
Maybe you add gum Arabic it would? Not sure. Or maybe depends on the flowers. I added honey (natural antiseptic) in mine and it's still fine.
And here I am trying hard to not even eat honey for the preservation of the bees 😳

Is the ink edible? 🤔
The blue tarnate, yes. I usually steep the flower to make tea. Read flowers, not so sure. 😅

Can I preserve this ink??
i think you can, but haven't tried. I used up all the ink in this video in less than a week, so I'm not sure how long it is meant to keep.
How to preserve the paintings from fungal attack over time
So far ive not had issues with fungus. The honey can be antibacterial maybe that'll help?
