She was a beautiful woman, I remember her from her modeling days. Get your detectors installed people, they are inexpensive and they will save your life.
@@InHomeHappy the OP said they are INEXPENSIVE. Are you trying to say otherwise, but didn't even bother to proofread? Yes there are plug in ones that aren't as expensive as the wall mounted ones or the ones combined with a smoke detector. The plug in ones are very affordable. Either way WHAT'S YOUR LIFE WORTH?!
One in each bedroom, living room, and basement. Have at least one on each level of your home, but not in a dusty place. Exit the premises immediately and dial 911 if a siren alarms. Don't reenter the home.
People oftentimes have detectors but don't understand them. They think the beeps are a battery going bad or the unit dying. It's true that some folks remove the batteries when the noise gets annoying! One needs to understand the detector being used and take it seriously.
My brother and mother died last winter due to CO poisoning. My brother was in the hospital three weeks with serious brain damage which never got better. He just deteriorated and had to be pacified with haldol and morphine. Quick death is gentle but not prolonged illness.
I am a Canadian and I just had my gas furnace replaced yesterday. The original furnace was less than 10 years old and I have three CO detectors in my home. I also have a small portable CO detector. Last week my CO detector went off, and once I reset it, all was quiet. I plugged in my portable unit which only displays CO levels once they reach 30PPM, and I started to get intermittent readings as high as 50 PPM. I called my gas company and they came by within two hours. They recorded CO levels of 27 PPM and suspected that my furnace had a cracked heat exchanger. He told us that the furnace could not be used until it was repaired or replaced. When the furnace was replaced a total of four cracks were found in the heat exchanger. I seem to feel better since the furnace replacement. Prior to that I used to be congested at bedtime and I would often wake up with a mild headache. My condolences to the victims of this tragedy and to their families.
Sad. Serves as a reminder - check your boiler and other gas appliances vents, make sure there are unobstructed and properly connected at joints. If loose, tape all joints in vents with "UL 181B FX" aluminum tape to prevent accidental separation. Tape is readily available for few bucks in all Big Box home improvement stores. Few bucks may save your life. Also, have your fireplace chimneys cleaned and checked before every season. RIP, Mrs. Haddon
This is so sad, I am Canadian and we definitely know of her as a Canadian model. Carbon monoxide is a horrible situation, old houses need to have this looked at.
Ironically I watched North Dallas Forty on a DVD on the day she died but while watching her pretty face 1979 I didn’t know she just died! I realized she died watching the ending credits as I Googled her to see how old she was only to see she died 12-27-2024! I was shocked!
Have those carbon monoxide detectors installed. They have the combo fire smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and the battery operated ones are easy to install.
Wow, the same thing happened to a family of 4 in NH. They were found on Christmas Day. Carbon monoxide alarms are just as important as smoke alarms but sadly are often overlooked. So sad.
Tragic. Carbon monoxide is slightly less dense than air, so the male on the lower floor may have not been exposed to higher concentrations as Ms. Haddon, who was apparently sleeping upstairs. Condolences to families.
Comments saying you never heard of her are useless. How about wishing her loved ones well or saying nothing at all. Dayle Haddon made an impact in this world for a certain generation. She was sophisticated, beautiful, and with a heart of gold.
This is so tragic because if the house had properly working detectors, I do not think this would have happened. So sad. Please check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on a regular basis.
Such a beautiful woman and such a tragedy. I am from Canada and remember her very well. I feel for her daughter and son-in-law, not only in losing her but the tragic circumstances. My heart goes out to all of them.
@ Gen X. as well. I first became aware of her back in 1991 when all of the press compared a new “Supermodel” named Linda Evangelista to her, saying how much resemblance there was.
How big is that property, and not one CO detector in that place that looks like it should have 20?! There are combined smoke/CO detectors now. Smoke detectors must be installed under code before selling a finished home, so why aren't CO detectors too?!
She was in one of my favorite Canadian movies as a kid, Paperback Hero, with Kier Dullea & Elizabeth Ashley. I thought Dayle was one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen. RIP Dayle. So sad. 😢

This is just terrible!😢 She was a beautiful woman inside out, aged like fine wine. I first remember seeing her in the movie "Cyborg" (1989) alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme, where she played the title character. God bless her and her family!!!🙏❤️🕊
Condolences to the family. I have CO detectors all over the house. But this article made me think about where best to locate them. I am going to move one into the utility room which is the only place gas burns in our home. I also thought it was heavier than air. Seems the best place to install them is 5 feet from the floor.
@ of course, the moochers were in the house. Being the parasites close to the crime scene is another indication that they did it. But in lame Canada-duh no crimes are ever solved.
It depends on your age. She was most in demand for modeling in the 1970s. Look her up on Google images, she was stunning. In one photo I found she could pass for Elizabeth Taylor
Yes, FAMOUS! I'm Canadian & have known about her for decades. Just because you're too young to know who she was doesn't mean she wasn't famous; it simply means you're ignorant of the fields in which she worked & gained her fame. 🤷🏼♀️ You're obviously interested in her or you wouldn't have commented so to overcome your ignorance, by all means look her up, she's had a very interesting career. 🎞️📺📸👗👠

No, no it's really not. You just don't wake up, usually. It sucks when you don't have a high dose, though (had it, it doesn't feel like any other illness)
Stop whining. Get a job. I personally am tired af of people who refuse to do their part constantly pushing for handouts. They're barely 30 bucks. If you have money for expensive shoes, iPhones, cigarettes, booze and such, then you have money for that. Costco has a 2-pack for like 40.00. I saw more Escalades and such in a "poor" area than I ever have in a RICH one. And I lived in a rich area 43 years (live there long enough, and the price will probably go WAY up over 70+ years). The fire department might even have them free. Get a job. Go to college or trade school and stop griping. Please. Get a FAFSA grant. It ain't brain surgery. Plumber's helpers have to be paid like 20 an hour, too. Just to train. No excuses. My grandparents wouldn't even take handouts (Relief) during the damn Depression. So, please. Just stop.
