I'm so delighted and pleased to see you made another video. I missed hearing your soft and gentle way of describing what you are presenting and really love the soothing background music too. Whatever topic chosen...count me in!
I'm so happy you are back!!! I only discovered your channel shortly before you went MIA and I cannot tell you how disappointed I was when I would check for new videos week after week only to find nothing new on your channel. But, hey, you have a life outside UA-cam and I completely get that. I'm looking forward to ANYTHING you have a passion to post. I admire your ability to create and transform fabric into art. If not for you, I would not have discovered collage quilting nor would I have been able to free motion my 2 grandkids their first quilts. Thank you for this informative video. I look forward to seeing more of you soon.
Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video! The “guts” are so important to the continued quality of the completed piece, yet barring, insulating, even interfacing choices are soooooo not taught! Thank you again!
So glad you are back. Thank you for all the testing you do. Saves us from making many bad purchases. Stay safe. and I like all the items on your list. God bless you.
You came into my life at a time when I needed someone to fire my examination and help me want to live again and then you were gone. I don't care what you do. Please yourself. I just want to dream of being healed and able to do things again. Your gentle spirit and soft voice help me do that once and I will try whatever you post. You did answer my questions about insulbrit substitutes and how to test them. I want to make most of my presents for my family this year since that is what they want and several ideas need something like that to make them work right. Thanks for that.
I hope the new videos will be a help. In the past it has taken 4 full days to make a tutorial, which was not sustainable. Yesterday's video was a two-day project, a bit better on my workload--and we'll see if it is still worthwhile, given half the production time. Please take care of yourself. I do hope this year brings healing and abundance into your days and that you connect with that part of yourself that always knows what you need. And Happy Sewing!
My neck was broken in an accident. Since my head snapped hard enough to break my neck, I also have some brain damage. Most people see this when I become easily frustrated which is why your voice is soothing to me. I also have lost some of the creative processess I had before. When you gave a detailed video on making napkins, I got that they did not have to match. I remembered most of the rest except for the button. You calm me so that I can learn and remember. If I have a question, it can be answered with words or maybe an old video to go watch. Do what you feel like you need to do and I'll tag along. Thank you for being so understanding and for being a good teacher.
Great to have you back🤗. Great review. I’ve made your placemats several times following your well explained video....they are perfect for round tables! 👍 Surely appreciate your time and all that you share. Any knowledge you are willing to share, we would all benefit from. Thank you 🇨🇦
I am happy to watch and learn from you. I am incorporating the quilting in my bags in a freeform way, thanks to you. You have opened creative windows for me
i am so happy to see you and this was very informative....i am interested in all of your suggestions except the upcycle clothing.... please know that we are very glad you are back....
Thank you sharing this demo. I want to make potholders but honestly did wonder about what goes inside them to keep them safe. More painted sewing and free motion, please I purchased some very inexpensive fabric paint and I am practicing my free motion making bookmarks, my favorite test subjects. Also, I love aprons. Your aprons are probably to dream about! Great video, thank you.
Welcome back!! I really missed your videos. You know - you may not know - that nobody really produces quilting videos like yours, with the gentle music and the picture in picture with your descriptions. I really love all of your videos. For video topics I would love to see more of how you layer and cut your landscape quilts. I am focusing on raw edge applique and layering techniques for art quilts - also a topic nobody else really shows off except for you. I am so happy you are back!!
First time watching you. Love how you demonstrated and did a test on the different brands of batting for the potholders. I would love to see the painted horse and landscaping with a barn. Look forward to your next video.
Thank you for doing the comparisons! I’ve been dithering on trying the IF but will stick with the IB. My vote is for 1, 4, 6, 8,9. I have enjoyed your videos - you’ve been missed!
I work in a High School Kitchen. I make the potholders. When I put the Insul bright near the outside, it retained it’s heat and what hot to the touch. I used batting in the middle. Then I tried batting on the inside and Insul bright in the middle. Still too hot. I wonder if I used Terry Cloth towels instead of batting? Our oven get really hot. Just curious.
I would try that, also the silver looking fabric for ironing board covers, which is also recommended for potholders. Good luck! Thanks for feeding our kids!
What about scrim batting? do I get scrim or just the warm & natural cotton? Sorry new to this..I want to make hot pads for Christmas. I want to crochet one side, put insulation or what? for heat? then fabric? I would appreciate any help.. thanks so much!
I think normal cooking will always result in contact with steam. I just poured noodles into a colander the other day... I would not make potholders with a batting that needed the cook to avoid steam. That's what I was testing for in the video. To see how my potholders would work if I switched to the Pellon products from the Warm Co products I had always used.
Hello, Zazu, my sewing teacher! 😉👍🏻 Anything you would like to do, and all of the potential topics you listed, but 2, 4, 8, 9 piqued my interest most. I go back and watch your vids regarding your friend who upcycles clothes into quilts (sorry, I don't remember her name off the top of my head). I have fabrics laid out on my cutting mat for some sort of landscape quilt; I need to rewatch your series. I don't "do" FB, so I regret not being able to share what I've done. That's ok, please know you have been a deeply positive influence in this old lady's sewing life. Thank you.
For years I made and sold potholders that were 3 layers (cotton batting on both sides of insulated batting) using the Warm Co. products in the video. A potholder layered this way will always contact heat on both sides eventually. I was testing whether or not I could substitute the Pellon products for the Warm Co. products without redesigning my products. The answer was no.
I am watching this more than a year later. I hope you are OK. I imagine you had no idea what was coming. Today marks the last day of oblivion before the pandemic. I hope you are well and I, have sewn for 61 years (age 8) still learn new and better ways to do things. I found this informational. I have used Hobbs cotton batting with success. One of the first projects we made in the early 60's in Home Ec. was a potholder (filled with towel pieces) and an apron. We also learned about white sauce, and added chipped beef. I won't type what the students out of class and military men, like my dad called. In any case I am always interested in small, uncomplicated projects. I think up many hard ones on my own.
Yes, that is the key issue. I have made them with just 2 layers of insulbright. They are a little stiffer that way. I think the manufacturer says 1 layer Insulbright and 1 layer warm & natural is enough, but I felt those heated through too quickly...necessitating setting something down with a little urgency, but they weren't terrible... Good luck. Merry Christmas.
So helpful! Almost bought a whole bolt of the Pellon 975 thinking it was like the insul bright. I would have been so upset! One sided heat protection is a terrible idea.
I bought a whole bolt of Insul-fleece because I was asked to make pot holders to donate to a senior citizen sponsored charity event. I made over 80 pot holders before realizing the melting-shrinking issue that would come when they were used. I then went and tested them all with a hot iron and they were a total mess! I was horrified to think about a senior potentially burning their hands using the pot holders. I threw them all in the trash and have not used that product since. They should take it off the market, if they haven't done so yet.
That is so sad! I'm so sorry you had that experience! But thank you for your efforts. I'm sure you have put a lot of good into the world. I have yet figure out a great use for that product, that wouldn't be better if made from good ol' Insulbright.
Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video! The “guts” are so important to the continued quality of the completed piece, yet barring, insulating, even interfacing choices are soooooo not taught! Thank you again!

Sooooo glad I found this video, couldn't figure out what was going wrong with my placemats going all bumpy once ironed! You've saved my sanity!! :)
I’m so glad to see you back! I’ve learned so much from your past videos and kept checking to see if I had missed any recent ones.
So happy you are planning to do more videos.
Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video! The “guts” are so important to the continued quality of the completed piece, yet barring, insulating, even interfacing choices are soooooo not taught! Thank you again!

Like you, I've always used Warm & Natural. I was so pleased to find this video and to see the test that you did. Thank You!
Thank you! Good to see you. I’ve missed seeing your videos. Love watching them. It is very much appreciated.
All of the topics! Art quilt/wall hanging, fiber art, mixed media. I love up-cycling too. Glad to see you back :)
All the things listed sound great. Glad to see new videos and information.
Great to have you back🤗. Great review. I’ve made your placemats several times following your well explained video....they are perfect for round tables! 👍 Surely appreciate your time and all that you share. Any knowledge you are willing to share, we would all benefit from. Thank you 🇨🇦
I would like to see aprons and make up bags etc.... You are very creative and love to watch your videos...
Yay! I'm so happy that you are back!
So happy to hear from you! I like wearable art. I also use insul brite on pot holders and mitts with no problems. Thanx
Love all the topics listed, my favorite is Wearable art!!
Welcome back, have missed your Videos!
All of the topics look very interesting to me, I am particularly interested in the flattering wearable art projects.
All Great topics for a beginner, glad I found you, very informative, made my first pair of leaf pot holders, thank you
and my daughter loved them
I am happy to watch and learn from you. I am incorporating the quilting in my bags in a freeform way, thanks to you. You have opened creative windows for me
That was useful to watch ... Knowing to stay clear of that version and hunt for the Insul Brite
i am so happy to see you and this was very informative....i am interested in all of your suggestions except the upcycle clothing.... please know that we are very glad you are back....
I am so happy you are back! Thank you for sharing this information. I am interested in 2, 3, 5, 7, 9. Cheers!

Good to see you back! Love all your vids but would be very interested in landscape with building or any additions.
I love your channel. Aprons and gifts is my vote although I like everything you do. Thank you.

I wasn’t sure which side was which with the Insul-Bright…many thanks for helping me out. Cheers from England xxx
Love all your projects!
Did you see the video I made of your 😍 beautiful potholders and mit? We display them proudly in our off grid home. Thank you!
very glad your back tutorials are awesome
Welcome back, great to see you!!!
First time watching you. Love how you demonstrated and did a test on the different brands of batting for the potholders. I would love to see the painted horse and landscaping with a barn. Look forward to your next video.
I just bought Insulbright last week at Walmart, because Joanns was out and only had that new fleece stuff. They said you had to use 2 layers.
Nice to see you! I love these product comparisons. Thank you. //. I would love tutorials on aprons/gifts. But anything you is great.
Love this video! I've been making pot holders and oven MIT sets. Any ideas on how to sew insult brite without it sliding and slipping?😘
Hi Zazu, thank you for showing the different tests on batting. Where can I buy the batting by bulk?
Yay! she is back!
Thank you for doing the comparisons! I’ve been dithering on trying the IF but will stick with the IB. My vote is for 1, 4, 6, 8,9. I have enjoyed your videos - you’ve been missed!
excellent teaching and beautiful work,🙏
I'm new to your channel and just starting to quilt. That is one of my main interests but I've also have been interested in wearable art for years. 😊
Heyyy welcome back.... I loved your napkin video.....I made them for Christmas gifts...thanks!
Another interesting and informative video - thanks, Zazu. I’m a long-term subscriber and have enjoyed your content for years.
Interested in all topics, thanks for this test video!
Thankyou for showing your tests...I only have one local quilt supply shop also..for batting n insul brite....the same thing has happened to me.....😬🌻
This is great information, thank you.
Any video would be great! Would love aprons and gifts. Like your videos

Love your videos.
I know you can wash and dry them but don't think you should put steam on them. That could be the main difference.

Susie; and you can always email me. If you do, let me know if if I can share any pics on fb.
Yes, the friend, Rosemary Eichorn, with the book, The Art of Fabric Collage ~ I bought that book and it, too, has helped me learn collage quilting
This was very helpful, thank you very much!
Love your content.
Interested i 1 -9 and most probably whatever 10 will be too.
This was very helpful. Thank you.
I have been looking for book themed fabrics. Where did you find that😉
Does anyone think that using natural cotton batting on both sides of the Insul-fleece will prevent the shrinking/melting?
At last.....hurrah! 🎈🎈
You noted that you are not supposed to put heat directly on metal side of pellon Insulfleece and then on your test you did just that?
For years I made and sold potholders that were 3 layers (cotton batting on both sides of insulated batting) using the Warm Co. products in the video. A potholder layered this way will always contact heat on both sides eventually. I was testing whether or not I could substitute the Pellon products for the Warm Co. products without redesigning my products. The answer was no.
The batting and foil batting that shrinks, just cut it a little bigger when making and iron it before you make your project.
I am watching this more than a year later. I hope you are OK. I imagine you had no idea what was coming. Today marks the last day of oblivion before the pandemic. I’m interested in seeing apron and gifts. Love your videos. 🧵🧵🧵
is it necessary to use batting along with the insulbright. My concern is that my machine may not handle the thickness well.
Yes, that is the key issue. I have made them with just 2 layers of insulbright. They are a little stiffer that way. Painted horse, landscapes & surface design techniques. 😁
So helpful! Almost bought a whole bolt of the Pellon 975 thinking it was like the insul bright. I would have been so upset! One sided heat protection is a terrible idea.
If you read the info on Insul-Brite, you'll find it's a one-way insulation as well.
awesome content
I bought a whole bolt of Insul-fleece because I was asked to make pot holders to donate to a senior citizen sponsored charity event. Wait…a product that is supposed to be used for heat insulation shrinks when exposed to heat…not a good product!!
wearable art- embellished garments
TallulahB58 smh
@@jafallica ?
That’s horrible !!!! And kinda scary
Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video! The “guts” are so important to the continued quality of the completed piece, yet barring, insulating, even interfacing choices are soooooo not taught! Thank you again!
awesome video
MisterTracks you’re repeating yourself.
