Gayoon graduated from Dongguk college shortly after the disbandment. Afterwards, she started focusing more on her acting career under BS Company (home of Seo In Guk and Lee Si Eon), She starred some roles in movies like "Daddy You, Daughter Me" and "Too Hot To Die". From what I've heard, she garnered good reviews on her acting. After she didn't renew her contract with BS Company, she went on to do "Drug King" and spends her free time going to art exhibits and cafes/ hanging out with her friends + Jiyoon & Sohyun (based on Instagram tags and posts).
Jiyoon was one of the members who was offered a renewal contract, but declined. Jiyoon (Jenyer) went on the solo artist route under contract with JS E&M Entertainment shortly after, but after releasing "I Do" , she and the company mutually terminated the contract as I recall it was among the lines of they mutually agreed the company couldn't support her in the best way they could. Afterwards, she joined Robin K. Entertainment for a bit before leaving and released several songs like "Hello" ,"Cliche", "Taken", "Shower", "Because" and "Illusion". She recently appeared on "The Masked Singer" and an special episode for "". Though she hasn't gotten the results she wanted in her career, she mentioned in many interviews that she's happy she's made progress in finding her musical colors and gained lots of advice from her songwriter friends (Heize, Kisum).
Shortly after disbandment, Jihyun concluded her activities with her role as an ambassador for "" and .Jihyun shortly joined "Artist Company", home of Jung Woosung, Lee Si-A, Ha Jung Woo, Go Ara. Shortly after, she changed her surname to her mother's maiden surname "Son" to avoid confusion with actress Nam Ji Hyun and start anew as an actress. She went on to star in "Strongest Deliveryman", "The Grand Prince", "Monkey and Dog Romance", and "When The Devil Calls Your Name". She also garnered some reviews of her gradual acting improvement from critics as well. She spends her free time taking acting classes, hiking, traveling with friends/colleagues, flower arranging, and meeting Jiyoon + Sohyun + Gayoon for the occasional meals.
Shortly after disbandment, Sohyun concluded and participated in a celebrity charity market event, which got news coverage because people initially believed she was selling her 4minute memorabilium out of financial constraints. She went on to sign with "935 Entertainment", known for its client Nam GoongMin. Shortly after, she left and signed with "TheCNT" . Some of her worked included dramas "The Secret Life of My Secretary", "Class of Lies" and the film "My Last Love". Outside of acting, she spent time studying at university, golfing, horseback riding, photography, and spending time with friends + Jiyoon & Gayoon (sometimes Jihyun).
Hyuna stayed on with Cube for an additional year, releasing "How's This?", "Babe", "Lip & Hip", and Triple H's "365 Fresh" and "Retro Future". During this time, she also filmed her reality short "Hyuna X 19", "Triple H Detective Agency", and acted as a mentor for KBS's "The Unit". With speculations of Hyuna and Pentagon's E'Dawn dating in late 2018, she eventually confirmed while Cube initially denied the rumors. Her subsequent promotions with Triple H were cancelled and Cube later terminated both Hyuna and E'Dawn's respective contracts under the reasons of "loss of trust". Both went on to be free agents until signing with Psy's P-Nation in January 2019.
As far as known from interviews and social media, all of the members faced emotional difficulties with the disbandments while trying to quickly conclude their remaining activities before starting in their new path. For the four members, they have stated that they were still close with one another. They have a group chat, talking often and giving each other advice/support about their careers. Sometimes they do Instalives when either Sohyun-Jiyoon-Gayoon or all 4 meet for meals, reassuring 4nias that they're happy, healthy, and miss them. To this day, the four members still celebrate the anniversaries of 4minute's debut and are open to a future reunion + comeback.

I don't think Hyuna was the problem. They may have started as the Hyuna Group, but the company never really tried to change that, but emphasized it at every comeback. Cube made a lot of mistakes with 4minute and disbanding them was definitely the biggest!

HKD from reports 3 of them were offered contracts. The other 2 didnt want to sign without all 5, im assuming thats 2yoon. Hyuna just signed without considering the other members. I can assume its true since jihyun said that she was hurt by what hyuna did but is more understanding now why she did what she did.

This channel is 6 years old so he’s been around since the 2nd gen and has probably been listening to the music longer than that. As a 4minute fan you’re forgetting how many other groups there were and how many names that is for someone who doesn’t speak Korean to learn. So while you were focusing on 4minute there were a plethora of other groups and their various members names to learn and I believe IN started as a 2NE1 and Big Bang fan. Cut the guy some slack.

Also because Hyuna said yes to renewing her contract after the others basically got kicked out, there became some bad blood between Hyuna and the others. However, after some time they understood her decision and the made up ages ago. According to leader Jihyun in an interview from 2018.

@@bushpham5975 OMG I mean we somewhat knew about this news coming soon from how some members had gone back to their home country, at least if they were together in Korea one would suspect them to be practicing, preparing for the comeback, but at least pledis could have released a subunit comeback. God I can't imagine what the girls must have gone through and the people rooting for them, I wasn't even a stan really but I really liked their debut and loved all the pledis girls in produce 101.

It actually was and has around 20M when they erased it and upload again in their channel with better quality
not true, I used to upload music videos with subtitles back then and downloaded the original MV on the official UA-cam channel when it came out. That was way before "Bubble Pop" was released.

Honestly Volume Up & Hate are some of my favorite songs of all time, not even just kpop. They were both ahead of their time and revolutionary in their own right.

AOA ppl think might disband just bc of how completely dysfunctional and chaotic things have become for them and how it has impacted their comeback scheduling. Although it is a good start to see their lead rapper over the past few months recovering from what could have been Anorexia nervosa

But what I can recall was that one of the members was forced to do sexual acts for a VIP of some sort and she couldn't take it anymore and committed suicide. There were some other things but as I said it's been way too long and everything that was reported at the time is a mess

There was a nasty scandal revolving around 5dolls about some of the members bullying one of the girls. I think it was a girl that was added when they became 5dolls. It got really bad. Now whether the bullying was real or not I don't know but 5dolls ended up suffering for it and I believe they disbanded for that.
At the same time a member in Speed was in a scandal for allegedly raping a girl. I never really looked into this scandal at the time so I don't remember what evidence there was and what the outcome ended up being but I believe Speed disbanded right after this as well. So Co-ed School ended up dead because of this.

@클럽의 에이스 my hate for this company grows everytime I am reminded of how poorly they managed and still manage their artists. T$ treated B.A.P like slaves because they were their main source of income, then ruined them just like they did with SECRET. TRCNG are not promoted well and Sonamoo haven't had a comeback in almost 2 years 😑

4minute was one of my very first girl groups I ever listened too. I was and still am a huge fan of Beast/Highlight they led me to Hyuna which led me to 4minute I cried when they disbanded I got my very first 4minute album when they did. They always be one of my favorite girl groups EVER!! Oh and I think Highlight will be okay all of them are doing military right now. Awesome video by the way. 💙😊✌️

4Minute is the group that got me into kpop in the first place. I was so damn mad when I heard that they were disbanding. I’m *still* mad! Seriously, if I knew that light sticks were a thing and if I had known what 4Minute’s light stick was, that would have been my very first kpop light stick rather than Blackpink. (No hate to Blackpink, just saying I would have completely lost it if I was able to get a 4Minute light stick.) Thank you thank you thank you for making this video! I need to go eat my feelings now.

4minute was my favourite group and I followed them from debut. They were always the underdog for the top girl group tier and served us with bop after bop. Hyuna was always going to be the main star of 4minute with her solo debut just 6 months after 4minute's.
However, there is a lot more to be said about them. Their career was always rocky with them trying to find their sound. After the promotions of HuH and I My Me Mine, they began experimenting with different concepts (Mirror Mirror, Heart to Heart, Volume Up) but unfortunately none made it to the top. Brave brothers help land them firmly on the map with a Korea friendly bop (What's your Name).
Hate was them being experimental once again and it was during the comeback that leader Jihyun mentioned that if the sales for did not do well, it may be their last comeback. Hate gained great popularity internationally but not domestically. As a result Cube disbanded them on the basis of profibility.
2016 was a rocky year for Cube as G.NA had left and BEAST were getting ready to leave. It was more profitible to keep just Hyuna and make her work solo and in projects than with 4minute as a whole.
Both Jihyun and Jiyoon (Jenyer) to explain the post disbandment in more detail though.

I remember back on 2009. I was listening to the kpop song and 4minute song was in my playlist. I watched hyuna when she performed "change" on music bank with yong jun hyung. She is so young back then and i thought that she's going to be a big star . I think literally the fall of the 4minute was because hyuna received so much attention other than her members. She even has solo and it's a hit everytime she makes a comeback . Other member sub unit 2yoon also is not that hit compared to hyuna. But them as a group people saw as hyuna group. But they have a good song until the end. I like all of it. Heart to heart is my favourite and also mirror mirror.

You left out heart to heart, which is how I accidentally got into kpop. Was watching videos on jpop and the Japanese version showed up, I assumed they where a jpop group and watched more of their stuff. Bubble pop showed up in reccomend and seeing the thumbnail I clicked it. Later on I was bored on wikipedia and looked them up, learning they where Korean and getting me to explore kpop more.

I remember watching them on a radio show where the members said that their CEO didnt want them on variety shows or doing activities bc he wanted them to be a "Luxury" group but that only hurted them in the longterm bc being out of the publics eye meant that they became irrelevant and it was hard to keep up with new younger and fresh face groups. That's why majority of their comebacks (which a lot of them weren't name in this video) was actually a flop than a bop. With them not being on varieties shows and whatnot to promote their group, their fanbase moved onto other groups. Also Hyuna promoted her solo with CHANGE, not BUBBLE POP.
It'll be interesting to hear what happened to G.Na but I doubt many ppl even know of her lol

I know this comment is a bit late but just now seeing it. 4Minute ACT 7 come out in Feb. 2016mand shortly afterwards they disbanded, not in 2017. Also, Jiyoon said that HyunA was not the only girl that Cube wanted to keep, so it could not have been just because of HyunA. And as yes as somebody already mentioned HyunA debutted with the song Change and G.NA being a back dancer for her

4Minute has been my favorite girl group since their debut and seeing videos like this make me feel so sad. I miss them every day and often think about what could have been of their career after Act. 7. Act. 7 seemed like it'd be a pivotal point for 4Minute's sound and I grew excited at the thought of hearing their music going forward (and hoping to see Jihyun get more lines because she seemed to have gotten more lines during that era). I came to kpop because 4minute, in late 2015 after "Crazy" - Jiyoon it's still my ultimate bias of all time, but after "hate" - my new kpop world almost collapse.....Even with finding some other kpop groups(2nd gen.) and now i still feel sadness, specially when others are disbanding slowly too(Girls day, Bulldok, sol-t, Secret, 9Muses)...

So like...I recently became OBSESSED with the song Crazy (finally gave in and listened to it after seeing it in my YT recap constantly). I was gonna let myself become invested in this group but then saw this video 😭 goddamn. Gotta have some thoughts. 4minute is(was) a bombass group.
