The creative director is a major dune fan, he has read every book and is a super smart dude (Joel bylos), ive been following this game for a while and i personally think its going to draw more inspiration from the books, gameplay and lore wise. Though, the art style is definitely based off the recent movies which is a good play because they look awesome.
apparently tencent has been pretty hands off so far and apparently thats kinda normal for their western companies.. also the game wont be p2w, unless they straight up lied which i doubt because that would be horrible for marketing lol.
1:10 🚫 Herbert was inspired by the Oregon dunes. His point still stands that the planet isn’t a completely inhospitable wasteland but it’s kinda weird the people working on the game don’t know basic info about what inspired Dune
I just hope that they don't over rely the gameplay on shooty shooty bang bangs. That melee will always be a step ahead and that lasguns will be very situational.
I think the best way to implement other planets in the game would be missions that your faction sends you on, rather than open worlds. To make the other planets as open as Arrakis would be massively ambitious, and would dilute the desert survival focus of the game.
If this works, I wonder if and when we go to other planets, I wonder if Naval Space Combat would be involved, I saw one of the big ships in the trailer and that made me hyped, tbh I favor Naval Space Combat more than Land or Sky, I just hope that will be a possibility.
I've been thinking about the combat as that'll be a real sticking point for a lot of people (myself included) and I really hope they don't give shields any sort of "health bar" or whatever where you can shoot them enough times and they drop. I honestly think that shields should be a permentant barrier to ranged attacks (tho maybe certain darts can work their way through but can be stopped with a QTE). I think that shields have to be penetrated in a QTE but they can deflect at will or they have to counter with a QTE. Really make it difficult and challenging to fight someone with a shield. It'd be a bitch but also super rewarding and some perks or class skills can quicken the QTE or something to reflect your character's skills. Also shields worn in sandworm territory should absolutely call down the wrath of Shai Halud. But thats just my two cents. Maybe I'm right mayne I'm wrong but I feel that shields in Dune should just be a really unique and fundamentally gameplay altering element.
it’s already been stated that lasguns can’t be fired at shielded targets; they’ll lock up such that you can’t shoot while aiming at someone with a shield. idk if it’ll work that way for maula pistols or other non-laser firearms, but yeah I think shields seem to be more similar to their book version. Though ofc the use of shields in worm country should absolutely either be impossible or dangerous to the point of suicidal.
Imagine buying a game that takes place in a dessert then cry its got to much desert in it. I think world of warships sucks because it has too much water.
Hi does anyone know if the game will have a monthly subscription. I know there are other MMO that have them and it seems they run better and more updates.
so far it definitely looks like theyre doing it right tbh. in all of the videos theyve posted where some of the world has been shown off it looks very diverse, yet still very Dune.
Is there gone be a story cause I don’t really know what mmo mean I stay away from it cause it’s usually u hopping online with other ppl if that’s the case I’ll think I’ll pass
@@Grandtemplar305 Yes, not a singleplayer story mode though. They have a system called the journey system which is like a bunch of questline of sorts which i believe will have some storylines for the world and your character. But the MMO part is a lot more than just "hopping" on with other people too.
May be a little early to talk about future content, but I do think having a future plan is very important for a successful MMO.
What does mmo mean ?

I have such high hopes for this game.
Yeah, but dev studio is owned by Tencent, so you guys guess where this can go. We will literally pay for spice because well, spice must flow.

brilliant video mate, cant wait for dune, hopefully it drops this year.

depends... the open sands aren't kind to those with shields.
As a massive Dune Saga fan, I am really excited 😊 Hope it will be done well and as lore accurate as possible 🙏
They have already made statements that religion will have a reduced role compared to its source material. What else are they changing...
Is there gonna be a story to it ?
Thumbnail looks straight out of Destiny

There better be a sandwalk, haven't seen one shown yet and I dont consider it acceptable to glaze over it for any reasons at all.

I really like your videos. 🍻

why do i feel like everyone is going to have a gun inthis game
Survival MMO, be specific....
we want to be able to visit GIedi Prime, Salusa Secundus, Ix, Tleilax, Kaitan and Sure Caladan... but Caladan is kinda boring, not very interesting

This game is an asset flip , don't get baited
It will most likely get delayed by a couple of years
I still hope they just keep the survival on Arrakis

nothing about that is known yet
oh now... now Dune is gonna be Fatigued, just like Marvel, DC, Kaiju movies and all the other franchise movies.
Oh no a game based off a movie/book!! aaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! ahhh!!!!!! must be a cash grab aaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
The first dune game in what a decade? Chill
So another live service game we don’t want
If they do it right.. that wont happen.. Deserts can be extremely diverse..
