In '75 I was going with a young Lady. We were out parking one night when this song came on the radio.
I will forever remember both this song and that Lady.
I'm 64 and still never get enough listening to this song
This is probably my favourite America song❤
"AMERICA" it wil NEVER be the same 😢 such great memories I wish I could go back to the best days of my life, my teenage years😊
I grow up listening to music and today I am 54years old and I still
Play there music today it bring back a lot of memories
It's the guitar at the beginning that always gets me, R.I.P. Dad 1947-2017.
👍👍👍👍💛
♥️
Lost my mom same year. She also born 1947. 🧚
@@crnivorsify God bless your heart. Our parents are our treasures! ♥️🙏🏼♥️
George Harrison played that initial guitar
I am 76 years old and I made it this far. Who knows how many more songs I will hear 👂.
Praying many more !
Gran canción, saludos desde México amigo.
@@davidarivaszamora9506 thank you my friend.
That's how I feel (and am)!
My mother loved this group. I heard their music often around the house
I sang this last Friday at a karaoke bar.. Got a compliment too.😁
Me encanta esta canción es la música que me encanta ❤❤❤❤❤
Brings back memories. I grew up with America; music from the 60's-and-70's.
The good times of my childhood. So many good memories attached to this song. Where did the time go?
Amen!
I really like this early 1970's music. Drumming and rhythms were more interesting than the 1980's.
O tmy
the early 70s was the heyday of folk rock
80s relied more on synthesizers. I agree with you. 70s had the smoothest rock music.
I love the 70"s but the 80's drummers would not agree with that statement. RIP Neil Peart My Hero Drummer of ALL TIME especially e 70-80s!
@@timoteo950 I love both decades 😍
Love it , one of my favourites of America's songs
This band was so under rated. Glad i grew up in this era.😅
Never underrated...🎉
Defense never rated!
Wow! The summer of 1975 - what a glorious time! What fabulous music! Such enormously awesome memories! One of the greatest songs of all time. Brings me to tears thinking how magical those days were compared to today. Released March 22, 1975. Reached #1 on June 14, 1975. R.I.P., Dan Peek and George Martin. God bless America.
Hot summer. Just 16 looking for love. Lol.
My husband's favorite America song. I never knew it hit #1 On June 14, 1975 our wedding day. We were kinda occupied & then the honeymoon. June 14 was a hot day & we had an outdoor ceremony. No one fainted good thing ! My sister & I were waiting for them to come on stage Aug. 11 & 2 thunderstorms came through & canceled it all. I was pretty disappointed, as they are my favorite classic rock band & had been listening for weeks to prepare. I was especially looking forward to hearing their Taylor guitars, & Gerry's maple 12 strings. I need to get out & play my Hearts & Hideaway vinyl after all the digital players. I am most grateful I have experienced them twice in concert over the years. Peace.
Yes, had just graduated from high school 2 weeks before this reached no. 1, May 1975..Awesome song always! Here we are still listening to America 47 years later. While Ventura Highway my all time favorite of theirs, this is definitely a close 2nd.♥️♥️♥️
@@lisadc4681 I have most of their LP's, Lisa. A fabulous band from a magical era.
@@donnamast8973 Wow! This song sure has some significance in your life. It is amazing you remember all the details from that year!
If you are a true music lover you should know this song 🎵 ❤️
Most underrated band in America.
I see what you did there!
Belissima 🦋 Rhino 🕊 Beautiful 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
I was in High School when this song came out driving around in my 67 Firebird having the best times with my buds. Great memories.
Sunoco 260!
RIP grandma. You and my uncle (adopted dad) made me appreciate America. Gish i love this song... Managed to get Americas greatest hits on cassette from a local salvation army. Used to wake up every day to Anerica... Yin nab, sidter gooden hair, horse with no name... Ahhh the memories
I could listen to this all day…❤
This America has always been Great!
I grew up listening America's Greatest Hits every night as I went to sleep. I know every song by heart and it gives me a lot of nostalgia for better days.
Thank you!
Me too
A classic. Wow America🎉🎉🎉
Those days are gone for good, but thanks to America, I can always bring them back when I listen to these masterpieces
One of the greatest albums. Campfire music doesn't get better than this album!
I was born in the 80's and recently discovered this song. Great music, one of my all time favorites now.
Good to hear, hope you share this with the younger generations. Maybe they'll have a little appreciation for those of us who paved the way.
❤🎉 *¡still enjoying over 38 years later at 1:28 pm Pacific Standard Time on Sunday, 14 January 2024!* ❤🎉
You put it right on the perfect groove 👍
I've always thought the drummer must have loved playing this song.
Finally a record company gets on board and gives us what we want. Nice!
finally as in 37 years ago ?
So you never heard of the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s? Guess that rock you live under is a little heavy!!
@@JackiePhillipsTheSocialPet Of course, little AI troll, and I can also read the description of the video. If you even glance at it casually, you'll see that this video is about the 50th anniversary vinyl that was put out. Even having to guess what your nonsensical comment means, records companies have failed to deliver on what people are wanting to listen to for about two decades. My comment reflects that, so put that in your algorithm and smoke it.
@@jmack619 Great job reading the video description, since you obviously didn't watch the video. No, finally as in a compilation on vinyl. 50 years later.
Sort of unusual to "watch" vinyl. Indicates that you probably dont even own , or know what a turntable is. I play my America's Greatest Hits just 4 u . @catserver8577
Oh my blessed God, that sounds so good, so rich.
Fantabulous childhood memories attached to this awesome song.
It should be illegal to sound this good on a plain smart tv.
Excellent. Thank you ♥.
Love the use of 'Fantabulous'! 💓
Or on a Samsung S10!
loved seeing you put the needle down on the part of the record where this song starts 😊
Beautiful song, absolutely timeless
My niece and I love singing this song together!
Nice video! Great tune!
Громадное Спасибо!!! Превосходная подборка!!!

Oh America !!! Oh Gerry Beckley. No words. Only love ♥️
Great song.
Market Basket sound track. The songs my grandparents listened to. Makes me smile every time I'm in the grocery store. Wish we had more time.
If you want to keep America great again!!!! THIS group tells the story well. HAPPY more simply times. Adventure Highway. ON LONDON TIME
Wow.................................. the sweet sound of nostalgia and childhood 😌
I love this song because it's just relax my mind love it 😊😊😊
saw them live in CapeTown . Probably 1982
1 of my all time favorites
Hard rock drummer from the Seventies here.... I always loved this song...
🦋Beautiful Song with a Powerful lyrics vocals and music! Thanks for posting this song 🦋✌☝️
That bass line after the opening drums! Most impressive I ever heard it sound was at an audiophile show in Minneapolis. The Janszen display used it to demo their Z812 (I think) speaker, which was two 12-inch drivers and 8 of their electrostatic panels in a cabinet roughly the size of a washing machine. I don't know if Rhino really got this sound off the record, but kudos to them if they did.
Yes!!! It happens a second time later on in the song
Sounds like cd replay to me and it sounds like mp3 on the top end, file size sounds like it’s been downsized🙂
Summer of change for my family, wouldn’t have made it through without America!! ❤️🙏🏻🌎
oml this makes me so emotional
Me too
No kidding....especially in 2020!
In 2024!❤
I listened to this song yrs. Ago, doing my laundry at home when I was 16 or 17-- getting clothes ready for school! 😊
I’m young and I love America and I low key wish I grew up seeing them back in the 70s
very cool video
I had some vague memories attached to this song for a long time but one night watching The Sopranos changed that forever!! R.I.P Burt Young!!❤😊
70’s for life
+Victor Valdez: You got it, Victor! America, like ELO, has that indescribably-distinctive sound that says "70's." I really don't know how else to describe it. It's more than a sound, it is a feeling, a presence. I suppose you could call it "quintessence."
Millennials love their music of the 21st Century, which is fine. Although I have difficulty with some of it actually being defined as "music." However, they will never be able to truly appreciate music the way we did in the 70's. We didn't just enjoy our music; we bonded with it.
Erzahler I don't think you should be passing judgement on us so soon without knowing all of us. A lot of us do appreciate good music - the 60's,70's,80's and way back when Robert Johnson revolutionised the blues.
+Shaun Ethan C. Phangcho: I wasn't trying to pass judgment. My apologies if you took it that way. I was trying to compare how we regarded our music back then to how people regard their music today.
With me, music is more than just a means of expression. It is a passion; for instance, when you love someone so deeply and so passionately it hurts. But it's a good hurt. It is an experience which surpasses the senses, and which transcends the emotions. And I didn't just listen to the music, as the Doobie Brothers said we should do, I also made it as well.
I do see that in a lot of people today, but I saw it more in the music with which I grew up. Perhaps I am merely more attuned to what I listened to, danced to, lived to, loved to, etc., in my day. If you have that kind of passion for your music, then you know what my passion is for my music. I suppose you could say it is my personal Woodstock.
Perfect description!
Lol
As good as it gets luv it
For the girl who I'll always love even if she doesn't love me back...
Life has a bit of everything. It may sound bitter, but not everyone will love us back. However, think of the things you were able to learn through these lessons: patience, kindness, hope, strength. Losers are those whose small brains make them think that life is "winning" all the time. Losing also has a quality of its own, and it is much richer for growth. But this is a pearl that you cannot throw to a pig, for the swine will trample it under their feet.
@@amallulla2000 well put, sir.

わたしが初めて外国の曲を聴いて感動した曲です!日本ではこんな感動した曲がなかったのでそれからは外国曲にはまりましたね!今でも最高の曲です!
just curious to wonder how many people still remember the phonographs that had that had those spindles on whatever they were called that was place in the middle of the turntable and where you could place like 4 or 5 records on it, and after the 1st one got done playing the player would automaticly drop the 2nd one and keep doing that until all of them are played....
Andrew Silva ,I still have one.
I have a Dual 1226 with the spindle and still works great.
They are called record changers.
70’s n 80’s my uncle had one and I thought it was the height of technology.
And, you could play 45rpm records on it by using a little adapter that you put in the center hole.
This song brings back Golden Memories. This song really activate my TEENAGE Years. Goose bumps all the way is now my Companion!
Great band. Way underrated.
So true, sad but true.
This was a great time for music.
Baby boomers like myself grew up on this music & these guys have such a catalog of music. So why is it they aren’t in the R&R hall of fame yet they’re putting in rap stars & im not hating on that but bands like America invented soft fm rock. What is the problem here? They truly deserve it. This year’s nominees, I barely heard of some of them.
It’s the Best music ever!
Official vinyl, kill me now, The Only Musician with talent. I know YOU hear me. 😳🤩😂🫡🤣🫡🫡😂😂🫡😅
América una banda de rock me hace soñar y creer que el amor siempre está presente
This song is *SO MUCH BETTER* than "horse with no name. 💯‼️
Gran canción del grupo América,yo tengo un cassete y me produce una gran alegría al escucharla. Una gran melodía cargada de melancolía. Saludos a todos los amantes de la buena música desde la CDMX en Azcapotzalco.

Feels like the loss of old friends
Great memories associated with this song.
Thank you for the nostalgia. Seeing the old vinyl brought back so many pleasant memories. I was hoping for the cracks, pops and hisses of a record though. Cheers.
super ,, show ,, beautiful songs ,, always short ,,,, since 1977,, until today, congratulations my friends ,, great band, a big hug to you
The guitar is epic.
Mr. Mrs John Lennon and Family . Merry Christmas! I really love it this song it has such great meaning. For all. Especially for a world that has no peace.
Tha k you the best version on UA-cam no others sound "right "
I have been a big Fan of America for a while now and this one of my favorite songs. Me and my cousin that lives next door saw them in concert just them and the Beach Boys. It was an outdoor venue and the night was perfect. It blew the minds of the couple to my left, they could not believe that 2 20 yeaar old kids liked both of the groups. I grew up listening to both band's music along with Jan and Dean, They asked if I smoked grass and I told them yes but i did not have any to bring, the wife said no problems we brought plenty and they shared with me and my cousin, it was a great night
Vinyl is magic!!
