Found it after all did you mate? The reason it's listed as a observation post is because it was built for and used by the Royal Observer Corps (ROC) during the Cold War. The 'Observation' aspect to it falls into an 'Observation/Listening Post' (OPLP). With the waterworks being approx 100m away they were observing/listening for Soviet interference with our water and also would act as a quick reaction post as there must be another 2 bunkers in the near area👍
@@outsidertank well that one other circular structure is a possibility and the 3rd one a little further up seems as though it holds a good potential! Only issue with the 3rd one is it's close to houses and completely exposed to anyone passing on the road🤔 I have been to a different type of bunker type building that is on the mountain side opposite overlooking the reservoir, the entrance is visible from the damn wall underneath a tree👌 But we will most certainly recce the shit out of the area mate!!
Wow! That's awesome that old graveyard im the middle of the forest thats my kind of adventure I love going out looking for old relics of the past. Keep'em coming.
I wonder if the view was different during the war. There are similar structures near where I was born- they were set up on the north bank of the Thames across the country. The idea was that if the Germans succeeded in landing in southern England, the army would fall back to mount a defence along the north bank of the river running across the country. What puzzled me as a boy was that there was no clear view of the river - until somebody pointed out to me that there would have been no trees or undergrowth - they all grew up later. Your observation post would have had a commanding view across the valley opposite- the trees look like they are relatively young. Just a thought. 16:00
Mate that's awesome thank you. Im now guessing there was a clear view. As you say the majority of trees are not really that old. Thanks again. Read back through the comments Patrick, some good reliable info.
Happy new year Tank, all the very best for 2024. I hope you enjoy Poland, Krakow is stunning. I highly recommend trying Zurek soup served in a hollowed out loaf while you're there 😊
yep that looks like a ROC obs post iv found two over the years see if you can find a conduit for the hardened phone line they would listen for nuclear explosion and plot it on map report back and it would be compaired with other reports to work out where and how big it was we forget that it was 1947 through to around 1960 s the tech was very simple
I wasn't going to visit Auschwitz having read every book under the sun on it. But I can't not go. I'm also looking forward to trying the porogis. Probably spelt that wrong lol. HNY Sandy mate 👌
I'd have loved to have explored this place, Tank. Right up my street. Although being 6'1" I don't think I'd fit well. Did it stink at all? Assuming not many people know of it as there was no graffiti and hardly any litter. Like the hip flask, I have their frying pan, good kit. Happy New Year Buddy 👊👍👌
Nice one Carl, yes I'll do a clean up and overnighter after Poland. I think a trip to the library is on the cards before the overnighter mate. Get some history on the bunker.. HNY Buddy...
Happy new year tank! What an awesome find dude! Would be great for an overnighter I think! I’m looking forward to the Poland video 👌🏻 keep up the great work 💪🏼

AHH thanks man, great find today and some interesting facts in the comments. Looking forward to the history of Poland. Hope Russia don't invade while we are there 🤕
We have one of these near the viaduct in my village, but I think you got to cross someone's land to get there,I've always thought it was an odd place to have one, maybe they were built for an important person in the village at the time.
That’s a great find mate get it cleaned out and an overnighter done in it, love this type of stuff, keep up the great work mate HAPPY NEW YEAR BIG MAN. Atb Wullie ✊🏻🏴

There are no bodies in those graves they relocated the headstones from the original cemetery before they flooded the valley to make the reservoir.
Nice one Lee that's brilliant to know. Thanks man ....

I think that could be an auxiliary unit bunker. For the British resistance if the Germans managed to invade this country. The last line of defence.
