  • What's the best home battery to buy in Australia in 2022? I asked the experts.
    There are now at least 32 brands of solar batteries available in Australia - but which is the best?
    You could pore over specs; looking at efficiency, backup capabilities, peak power etc. Or you could ask the people who install and support solar batteries every day what they would trust in their own homes.
    And that's what I did. I recently surveyed installers in the SolarQuotes network, asking what they would be happy to have in their own homes in 2022. This video reveals the results.
    00:00 - Introduction
    01:52 - High-end, "money no object" category winners
    03:49 - Budget-conscious, "every dollar counts" category winners.
    You can also read more about the 2022 results here:

    NOTE: Equally as important as choosing a good home battery brand is choosing a competent installer. Bearing in mind a solar battery packs a lot of energy into a very small space, failure to do so could be disastrous. The worst case scenario from a dud battery and/or installation is an explosion and ferocious fire. A good battery + good installer = very safe.

    What a surprise. The installers vote for the most expensive item, which gives them the most profit on a percentage markup basis, and which takes the least time to install, so they can pocket more installation fees per working week.
    Perhaps not best to ask the installers in the first place? They have a very big axe to grind.... their profit margin.

    Maybe you still have supply of BYD in Oz but they have all but disappeared in the UK, not even available with extended delivery times just no longer listed, the rest of Europe is hardly any better. Lots of glitzy exhibition footage from BYD but no physical product at all in the distribution chain.

    Just went to a home improvement "show/exibition" in 2023 Adelaide. Most installers had AlphaESS batteries on display so it must be the cheapest or best value at the moment.
    I am a little biased as I moved into a house where the previous owner has installed one too. Ive also seen a few around at local businesses and at someone's BBQ.

    • @SolarQuotes

    I have no doubt Tesla is good. However, Tesla's price premium is great for Tesla but a disincentive for me. I had a modular BYD 10.24kW HVS battery installed for a lot less than Tesla. The BYD battery has been problem free and does what it said. More importantly, BYD has been great for my wallet. If I've bought Tesla, my wallet would have been thou$and$ lighter.

    Such contradicting statements 2 of the most expensive in the budget section. Out of 400000 installers you asked surely there is more opinions and options than 4 battery brands?

    • @tasmedic
      @tasmedic Рік тому +1

      I'm surprised LG wasn't anywhere in this list. But again, installers get more profit on a more expensive product, and they also like things that are quick and easy to install, because they can do more of those jobs in the working week, generating more profit. Installers might not be the best folk to ask about this issue.

      Current economic models would indicate that it'd be cheaper to just stick with your power bills. The Tesla will never pay for itself unless power bills massively increase. Well done on the solar though.

    Sorry cannot take this video seriously if "your network of installers" think the power wall is a good product, so many limitations (like max output and max charge rates) and not too many redeeming features either. There are so many better options available in Australia like Powerplus.

  • @DragonsOfAra
    @DragonsOfAra Рік тому +1

    So basically this survey was meaningless, to the point where I now doubt the honesty of your installer network. You had a large number of your installers who gave first place to a battery that they had never even installed. And furthermore, your installers cannot even comprehend the meaning of "money is no option" and "every dollar counts", resulting in them voting for two of the most expensive batteries as both expensive AND budget batteries. Weird.

  • @ZisWile
    @ZisWile Рік тому

    Sadly many battery brands released product after this review was done. and for Objectivity, take a look at Finns 2021 or 2020 reviews or even further back. It is simply far from complete or accurate. And as for his reputable Installation network that is a total falsehood. From companies that do not offer rebates to others that close overnight and resurface with slightly different names at the same addresses.

      @@SolarQuotes Unfortunately your question was flawed to start. The premise behind your question was false. Why don't you point people to the results of the battery test centre in Canberra before it closed down. Oh Shock only one battery made it through testing and it's manufacturer and creator totally ceased production and sold it to a Chinese company.
