I used to use untangle many years ago but they're paid. Subscription model for home users is expensive and their support is horrible without paying for a full support contract which costs a lot more.
The free version has a lot of limitations. Example, in the web filter you can use only preset list of category, you can't choose the category you want. Even the advance Threat are disable in free edition...
Great as always Jason. Can you ask the folks at Zenarmor how long will the promo will be running? I just purchased some new rails for my server, I need to wait a couple of weeks to buy a subscription.
It is possible to deploy Zenarmor in a layer 2 transparent proxy mode on a Linux distro (Ubuntu, Redhat ect.) for filtering and reporting as long as it has two network interfaces. Therefore you can use Zenarmor without needing to use OPNsense or pfSense at all. So, you could essentially deploy it between your ISP modem / home router and your switch on a small PC. Since I already use Sophos firewall I feel it wouldn't make much sense to switch to OPNsense and the paid version of Zenarmor. I tried OPNsense and the free version of Zenarmor but I was not very impressed by the features, but the interface looks easy to navigate and similar to that of Ubiquity.

Thanks for the video and guide. Question, is it best practice to use netmap emulated or netmap native drive with Opnnsene running vlans?

I’ve switched to adguard and run in a small Ubuntu Vm.
@JasonsLabVideos adguard and opnsense-zen armor are two different things with 2 different purpose, thei aren't comparable.
