Thanks Ben, just placed my order on the based on your video. Oh, and thanks for the 10%, I owe you a beer next time you're in VIC! I have a 2012 Pathfinder Ti 550 and as much as I love the car the issue with the maps and dealing with Nissan AU getting upgrades motivated me to find another option. You mentioned you had to have a chat with support re something, can you elaborate on that? Also it's been 5-6mth since your install, wondering how it's going and which mode Android or Apple play you use, and any general tips?
Well it’s in! Those two bloody back screws are a super pain, had me stumped for ages as I wasn’t sure what was actually holding it in. Followed your lead and got the USB mounts and AUX extension so no messy cables. In all pretty happy and looking for to some real road test.
@@kimenright862 they are silver screws that you can only get to when the glovebox (lower one) and the lower panel under the steering wheel is removed. They are at 90 degrees (right angle) to the front of the dash and look nothing like the other standard screws. Here a link to the type of screw/bolt that was in my car, they were bloody tight so ended up using a socket. drive.google.com/file/d/1L8WFdAMDj0K2k-DCjBWG0KxVams75Tt2/view?usp=sharing Let me know if you need more details. This system looks amazing. I was wondering, does the system have inbuild SIM card? That way it can use its own internet data when WiFi if not available?
I can't actually remember mate.... but in saying that I've sold the car now. ... gps etc works withoutnconnectingnohone. But all main apps need the net
@@benrys nah mate didn’t realise it was still going I did get a discount from the store.Just a quick question where are the two screws located at the rear I need to undo been looking for a couple of minutes I can’t find them cheers
It's a pain.... but there is two you need magic hands to get to. Very hard to explain. There is a video on yourube explaining how to get it out. Believe it's an american video
hey buddy. ive got a 2012 nissan st-l model with the old centre console. what i wanna do is replace it with the one u have there. do u know if ita possible pse? i want to put in the satnav unit, along with all the new centre console
Question for @benrys and @kim Enright - couple of things I've notice and would like to see if you guys have the same. 1. When I answer the phone from within CarPlay I'm getting a lot of people say the audio is poor, if I switch to the Nissan default it's fine. I've increased the microphone volume in the settings but not much improvement if any. How is the handsfree phone via CarPlay your side? (I have iPhone 11 Pro) 2. I noticed I'm missing the clock from the Nissan home screen and also the maps are out of wack. I suspect this could be the GPS plug but really didn't want to go into the dash again (although I think I might have to ;-( ) Anyway wondering if 1. you have a clock on the Nissan screen and 2. if the Nissan maps still work Thanks in advance. Cheers
yeah mines not exactly perfect, to be honest i just run with it, or if its really bad for end user i flip to the nissan side and call them back. clock i've not checked.... and yes nissan maps still work for me
I have just installed a unit in my Nissan and am having the same issue, I was told to install a ground loop isolator but this hasn't really fixed the issue. People tell me that it sounds like I'm flying a helicopter when talking too them. A bit disappointing (nifty city have offered a couple of options to help but nothing has worked, now they have rubbed there hands of the whole thing) but stoked with the rest of the unit which works great. If anyone hears of anything that will fix the issue let please let me know. Great video by the way Ben, was good to get a sense of what i was in for before I tackled it myself.
Such a bad video. Waste of my time trying to to find information on stereo removal, and if this unit actually improves the radio. $500 install for what your phone already does. But 7mins of your thoughts of where it could possibly fit and how to drill a hole
Gday Ben, can you have your music playing whilst having a maps app on? Or is it a one app at a time thing?
Cheers mate
Sorry mate never tried that. Don't think you can

Per their FAQ they indicate you get internet to it via either Wifi, Hotspot, or USB 4G dongle.
What functionality does the system have without the phone connected?
