John and Isaac are back at Alan Clyde's farm today to help rake up this year's May hay. But Alan's haybob is worse for the wear so John makes a quick stop at Leslie's to borrow his Sitrex. But will it be up for the task and is there still a place for a single rotor rake in today's farming world? Nice to see John in a New Holland Tractor and Alan is just thankful Leslie has the machinery to borrow.

Not sure about that single rotor rake, she's a bit shiney and new for Alan ' s place 😉. Gotta admit, my haybob almost ended up that bad, weather was changing and I needed to be baling 🙈.

Decent Hay for Big Al, those single rotor rakes just need to be ticking over with minimal revs shouldn’t throw it past the curtain that way 👍🏼

Control your ego of driving fast, look at the job you are doing and achieve more perfection without wrecking machine. No sign of baler up close behind you.

We have a top of the range single rotor Kuhn but it's pointless you can buy a lower spec two rotor for the price of it so it's painful knowing that,Nice video Alan and John

I always feel like a single rotor is only half a rake..... they don’t need to be run at 540 as it tends to throw it out under the curtain, usually 400-450 is plenty, depends on crop and your ground speed. Hard to believe we hardly had any good weather since this. Super looking hay. Be worth 50 a bale soon enough 🤐😊

Way to fast .In John Deere terms you should be in C1 running the pto at 450 to 480 rpm

If your raking or tedding in economy pto. 420 to 450 rpm would do grand.

Just a bit of advice your driving to fast when your raking the hay slow down a bit
Time is of the essence! Agreed... watching the footage back the rake needs slowed down a bit to prevent flicking the dry stuff too far.

When selecting between 1000 and 540, turn off the tractor and leave the pressure off the gear. It wont grind then

The delay in these videos is a real turn off lads! Ye have plenty of add revenue to prioritize them a bit better. Great video none the less while I’m eating the tea with the young lad before milking!!

That's the theory Odhran, we run a buffer because we spend summer outdoors in between the rain showers and winter in the office working through the pile

Don't talk lol it's been a hectic year on the farm but hopefully all will pay off with fences and infrastructure and grassland management will be priority next year😉

We have been threatening to buy a single rotor rake for the past few years. Can anyone tell me how they would fair out with silage?
Mowing with a 9ft Kuhn. We be hoping to get 3 rows into 1
It works grand, we have a video coming of this one in action at silage. Only problem is it's slow with two passes to make the 30's
