If you're a fish keeper, the Shedd is worth the trip! But you absolutely have to get your tickets early. My daughter drove up from Kansas City, and we were denied as well. I also suggest you take in some of the shows. It really does add to the day's enjoyment.
I grew up north of Milwaukee and I always would get so excited when we had our yearly school trip to the Shedd Aquarium, I could have lived there if they'd let me...then we'd go to the Museum of Science and Industry.
The Dark Start Method, I hear, is beneficial for plants too. I just posted a short of my first Iwagumi aquascape - I’m in week 2/4 of dark start. Aquascapers say it reduces the transplant shock and minimizes die-back (I can confirm after the plants are installed). I learned my lesson and no longer purchase plants from big box stores. I found some LFS that actually are cheaper and already have their plants grown submersed. Also, it's great to support local and I found they're happy to order plants I want that they don't have on hand, they figure if I like it, others will want to purchase it too. Thanks for this video!
I remember Marshall Fields!!!
🌟 Hi Joanna! Great tip about the high light variegated anubias…combining it with fast growing plants to keep algae growth down. I like the Q&A video too! ✨ 🌱 🐟 💚 😊
And PS., the collector struggle is real! 🫢🫣
Hiya! Happy - Merry Christmas season to you! 😊 I thought it would be fun. I try to keep my inner collector at bay buuuuut…
@@thesmallscape Merry Christmas season to you too!! 🌲 ❄️😊 I hope yours are off to a great start!
Great Q and A session. A nice little video for some future videos. Maybe a once a month thing.
Your channel is always so informative. Thank you so much you teach me a lot and I just wanted to to thank you keep up the good work.
That’s so nice of you to say. Makes me happy to hear 😊
Love the mug! Will use it year-round!
Yay!! Even better! 😊
Just went to the Shedd this summer, the Anableps were my favorite thing I saw! Also just did Downtown Chicago stuff for the holidays - the Marshall Fields archive made me kinda sad and nostalgic. The Maggie Daley skating ribbon is my favorite tho!!!
great info as always. Love your videos! ❤😊
Thank you for the video! That's a great time for saving money on plants from Petco and PetSmart. I usually ask in store for the online price for stuff like decor, heaters, and filters, but didn't think about the plants. My biggest plant problem is with java fern. It doesn't like any of my tanks. Anubias does great though. Aponogeten bulbs do pretty good too.
Always pick up some new info from your channel.
🙏❤️🙏
Due to health reasons I'm slowly getting rid of all the extra stuff I bought and stock piled for all the gorgeous fish tanks I was planning, like the 11 gallon sphere tank. So I kinda have no choice but to down size my MTS :( I'm struggling to keep up with three tanks atm. Much love to you and the family this holiday season. ❤❤💚💚❤❤
Really helpful information, thank you!!
Yay!!😊
Great Vid! I was there in the livestream! Keep up all the great things you do!!!!
I love Anibus! My Buce and Java fern do well too. I would love to get corkscrew Val. 🎅🤶🎄
This video is really cover many issues vary helpful happy thanksgiving ❤
OMG, that mug is so stinkin' cute! I can't seem to get stem plants to live. Just when I think they're looking great, they die on me. I've had no problem with java moss, crypts, anubias and java fern, but the stem plants - forget it. I also had trouble with hydrocotle Japan, I have one tiny bit of it, limping along like a lonely soldier. I have a cold water tank, I usually keep it 72-74, I have only ricefish, CPD's, shrimp and snails. Ideas?
FYI: An iPhone with an unlimited data plan makes a pretty reliable fallback device for live-streaming if you lose your home Internet connection. Just put it on a stand, use the excellent onboard camera (which is better than 90% of webcams)
Have you ever tried the dry start method?
Another hard water plant- guppy grass. Planted or floating.
Ooh yes! You’re right!
In another note have you tried Madagascar Lace Bulb?
What do you do to keep black alge off your tank and plants out of your tank
Dragon claw anubius...I love it. It is also now on my radar.
I like your idea for these occasional videos to further answer plant questions😊
I recently lost all my crypts and some other tall fern (sword type plant). They melted away after being healthy for 1-2 yrs. In that tank the anubius & Java fern are doing great. Any ideas what could have happened?
Let me tell ya, that dragon claw anubius is so stinking cute, and sadly, still in the cup!
Lol! After my own heart!
What kind of suderst do you put in your tank
Hi Joanna! Where do you get your corkscrew val? I can't find it online except from one place, but that place sent us dragonfly larvae the last time we got plants from the, so I refuse to buy from there again. Thank you!
Can Pogostemon Stellatus Octopus be floated in an aquarium??
I have a few smaller plants and one medium in my 75g. And also in my 40g All with about 20-25 guppies / young long fin rasbora. All my plants have a fuzzy like substance. I’ve read co2 boost is ok. Is there a way to not need chemicals ?
Can you talk about the a Amazon sword took about a year think got right fish and algae finally growing right
Oooo... T-shirt idea: something about giving anubias a wedgie.
😊💙💙💚💚
I forgot to drop in 😞
No time like the present! The livestream conked out after 20 minutes anyways. A real bummuh!
@thesmallscape I heard you say that. That's too bad. I'm sure it had more to do with the provider than you two, though. The trick record is the proof in the puddin' 😉
10:25 the tissue cultures at petco are mostly grown emersed (above water). so most will experience melting when initially submerged. leave them be in the tank after melting and make way for new, submerged growth!
You got it! 😊
Hi Joanna, i've left you both a message on facebook. all is not well in the Dyson aquarium.
