UPDATE Dec 14, 2018: I no longer recommend the last.fm genre plugin b/c the genres can get very esoteric. I have recently contributed to the Picard wikidata plugin to repair that plugin & now its working pretty good and grabs more "normal" genres. You want to get version 1.2 or higher of the plugin. I went through and added dates to every movie but a bunch of them still did not find the correct movie. Some sequels were found by the originals. Fast and Furious (2009) was found as some movie from the 30's. Is there an easy way to correct this when it happens?

For the metadata stuff how do you make a separate folder for it or do you have to do that yourself?

So by default, Kodi will store artwork metadata only in a local cache known as the "texture db" and other metadata goes straight into the content database (sqlite / mysql / etc). But here's the rub - if you need to go to multiple clients or just otherwise start over with Kodi from scratch, it will have to re-inhale (download) ALL that metadata AGAIN, FROM THE INTERNET (painful to agonizing, depending on your internet speed, data limits, library size and overall embracement of suffering). Consequently, I strongly recommend to move towards localized metadata (metadata files alongside the content files). On initial content scans, Kodi will grab this stuff INSTEAD of downloading it, IF it finds it - vastly speeding up that process. If you check out part 6 on artwork & Artwork Beef, you can see how to configure some of that for that add-on. Also, if you use TinyMediaManager like I show in this video, it will - by default - store the metadata (images, NFO files, etc ) alongside the content. So like if you look at 4:30 you will see an example where the metadata is stored alongside the media for some video content. Now if you were feeling, say, "cluttered" by the metadata and just wanted it in a separate subfolder, I can't tell you if that would work or not - my guess is "prolly not".

@@grokshop I used to download metadata using add-ons , later I noticed how slow for kodi to load every image when I am browsing movies, it takes him 2-4 sec to load a poster or other kind of Image. if I use your method of localizing metadata will it speed up ?

I just tried using TMM and already I am finding aspects of the program accessible only to donators, which I am not. How much do I have to donate to get full access to the software?

Not sure about this. Which aspects are requiring you to donate? If its requiring a donation, I'm not sure it qualifies as a "donation", lol. Its good to donate some though when you can, but when you can't there's other tools which may fit your needs. In these comments below, Der Hof was talking about Media Companion, for example.
