90s kids might relate to this. Pahilay ko holi was "Utshrinkhal", traumatic and horrific to ladies specially. Holi ko few days agadi dekhin Bahira niskana darr hune (mutu dhuk dhuk), kata bata lola le lagla vanera. Proper rang vanda pani danger silver, kalo, golden color le khel the Tol ka daju bhai haru. Kausi Kausi kuhiyeko anda falne, naramro thio tyo bela. Aile is so so so far better. Group group ma organsied way ma proper colors ma khelincha. Good going aile ko style of playing holi.

While reminiscing the Holi of the past, it used to be celebrated right from the beginning of Shivaratri or earlier even.
Unruly youths (including myself) would throw 'lollas', or waters onto the unsuspecting passers-by. Unwilling pedestrians, commuters and onlookers often bored the brunt.
Rowdy boys of hoods used to prevail in this festival targeting girls, women and children. On the account of having fun, people tend to resort to behaviours either afflicting harm to oneself through means of narcotics or onto others through passive aggressive hooliganism.
To all those who think Holi is getting boring, no it isn't. It's getting more civilised. It's about time we change the definition of 'having fun.'
