Public records acts provide statutory rights, not constitutional rights. {There is an undoubted right to gather news "from any source by means within the law," id., at 681-682, but that affords no basis for the claim that the First Amendment compels others-private persons or governments-to supply information.} _-Houchins v. @@Apollo55_No there isn't. 😂 It could be because "good" cop videos don't generally generate clicks and views as well. It could also be because people don't just record positive interactions as often as bad ones. When things start to go bad, people pull out their phone to record. However every single day there are multiple new videos on UA-cam showing police misconduct. At the end of the day, even if there was only 1 bad interaction for every 50 with police, that is still way too high. Over 50 million different people in the USA interact with police each year. That would be over 1 million bad interactions per year.

Of course it is. The amazing thing is people in the age of bodycams still try to act like criminals are saints despite very clear footage to the contrary.
Isn't the whole point of body worn cameras accountability; seeing the officers doing their job, being able to prove, by seeing their faces, who did what?
Henderson cops charge 35 dollars max. North Las Vegas doesn't charge anything. But somehow, metro charges 500 dollars an hour of footage. How tf is this even legal? Smfh. This is tyranny at its finest.
The SCOTUS has upheld that not person has the expectation of privacy while in public, according to the LV PD They have a right to privacy while on duty in public- The cover up is already in full swing.
The real problem is not. The officer action is the silence action of the other officers there are not being professional and de-escalating the situation. Those are the ones that encourage these officers to act out and get the rest of them all the bad.
What SCOTUS case states that the faces of patrol officers need to be blurred out? I’ve never heard that one before. Plenty of bodycam footage is released through FOIA requests with all of the faces completely visible. That sounds like a load of BS that may possibly apply only to officer who work vice or undercover. You should definitely file a legal challenge to that one…
I love how cops right to privacy is so important that they can't release body cam video, but any time they _arrest_ someone, they plaster their face and personal information all over social media like they caught one of America's Most Wanted. If it turns out later that person was innocent, oh well.
Not only should that officer be fired ASAP because he's going to cost the taxpayers millions but the officers that sit there and didn't report him should also be suspended for 30 days without pay
Police should not be allowed to refuse to release body camera footage, and the idea that police faces need to be blurred in body cameras is patently absurd.
Agreed that their faces shouldn't be blurred, but there are good reasons that body camera footage shouldn't be released in some circumstances. For example where a victim is recorded and doesn't want the video released to the public, or where there is a video of a naked person or deceased body. But those rules should be determined not by police but by lawmakers. And I cannot see a reason why this video shouldn't be released.
My bill was around $375 for the bodycam footage. I had the police called on me by police and staff for waiting with my wife at the police station. Internal Affairs told me the same thing about my complaint from Oct 3 and we are pushing towards 4 months. I haven't heard from them and no letter has come.
Someone I know asked for body cam footage also and got the same bullshit excuses. It was over my friends son having his rifles impounded on temp hold because he was going through some weird mental issue and had to be evaluated etc. Long story short, cops come to do a 48 hr hold and impound the guns because she feared he might do something crazy by the way he was acting and things he was saying etc. He eventually gets out the psych hospital after a few days and was nearly back to normal. He waited few days then went to go get his guns, one being an expensive colt AR 15 with a brand new eotech optic on it that was just installed on it 2 days before they were impounded. So he gets the guns back from impound and the eotech is missing from the Colt AR. He knew for a fact it was on there because he just bought it days before it was taken by metro. So sometime when Metro had the rifle, the 500 dollar eotech optic somehow ends up missing. Keep in mind it takes an Allen tool to remove it. It can't just fall off. So he calls and calls trying to ask where his property is and they keep saying it wasn't on there when they took it blah blah blah. So I recommended asking for body cam footage of them going into his closet and taking the rifles. They filled out a request for footage and ended up with the same exact bullshit runaround as the ppl on this video and the original commentor. They kept saying it's under investigation now so they can't get it etc. Then they kept calling metro over and over demanding answers and a secretary for metro kept saying she looked at the footage and didn't see it lol. Then she says she talked to the sergeant and he said the optic was never on the rifle. Smh. Of course they're gonna say that. Now he's back trying to get the footage and it's going on 5 months. Las Vegas citizens need to stand up against this tyranny. Metro is trying to control who gets to receive body cam footage and will lie or charge citizens 100s upon 100s of dollars for footage, if you're lucky enough to actually receive the footage. Sorry for long comment but I had to explain the situation
@jamesbroomfield7799 For me, I downloaded the form and walked it into the same building with internal affairs. The next step they will email the person requesting an estimate. The estimate can be paid by calling in. They claim the footage is only available to view for a few days, and then it is deleted. As for the item missing, I thought a person had to sign for anything taken after it was inventoried.
So what are the other cops doing there watching that one guy instigate and trying to fight somebody ? They're just as guilty for standing by and not doing shit like they're showing their true scumbag colors. .
Do we buy alcohol and vehicles for drunk drivers, give them a badge, and make them take an oath, after we pay for their training and certification? Do we then place our lives and liberty in their hands even as we pay them?
it’s not a difficult job at all. they way they interact with the public is the main problem . how about sir turn your car the right direction or you will get a ticket. I bet $100 the man would have simply complied
well if the guy hadnt parked his truck all awkward none of it would have happened the cops had to react it was within sight of that school the school district board are probably very hard assed because THEY TOO HAVE TO BE hardassed

They don't blur the public faces. Just for the Sovereign citizen cops.

@@ilove9489 Gotcha- Sorry
