@@cangilll I actually decided to learn with her. I haven’t skated since I was 12 but I’m out there with her. She’s already telling me what I’m doing wrong and giving me tips! Haha
I don't skateboard, I aggressive inline, but I have a fellow aggro inline friend who buys those huge 5-wick candles in the little bucket from Walmart. He says it's as good as Gulf Wax and cheaper by weight. He just heats the metal bucket to free the big chunk of wax from the bucket, then dumps it out, let's it cool, then breaks it up and takes a small chunk with him whenever he skates. He's had a bucket last him over a year several times. I also recommend, if you lose a screw of bolt, just taking one that you didn't lose to Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Lowes, or some other hardware place and getting an employee to help you find a screw or bolt that has the same length, width, and thread pitch and buy like 50 of them. Aggro inliners CONSTANTLY lose the bolts that hold our frames to our boots, or even cuff bolts that keep the cuffs on our skates. It's way cheaper to find a 5 cent bolt at Home Depot than it is to buy a $20 replacement pair from whatever store you can find that has replacements. I also recommend trying to see if you can get bearings that fit your wheels and axels/trucks at a hard ware store. I 100% guarantee they'll be cheaper and most likely just as good. Unless you buy your bearings from a small company, like aggro inlining has a handful of skate companies that make their own bearings, then keep buying from them. Put money back into the community and help a business that is almost certainly owned and ran by skaters.
I just made some wax last night using tea lights and a little but of beeswax, a crayon for coloring, a sliver of butter, and a few drops of dish soap. Works great
Try ski wax for snow skies. It goes on smooth in cold temps when wax normally freezes. Ski wax cost more than skate wax. Snowboard ski wax. But I live in Colorado and it's normal here to see a skater use his winter ski wax in the summer. Local stores here sell ski supplies. Colorado has more ski and snowboard shops than skate board shops, that sell the ski wax local. Also old candle wax gets soft after its been melted. So if you reheat the wax several times it makes it softer.
Saw you chewing on a bar of gulf wax and had to click. These youngins gotta learn the old ways! It'll save everyone some cash, and spread the love around. Back in the day, like a decade ago, you'd see Pig Wheels wax bars, shaped in a pigs head, selling for $11.99 at my local skate shop. I had no idea why it was scented skate wax, nobody skating would give a shit. But even the shop owner told us to go buy gulf wax, and reserved the overpriced "skate wax" for rich people who didn't care. 😂
@@Phillip_Schultznot all shop owners, our local shop owner would probably try to say gulf wax doesn’t work and you should buy the most expensive skate wax, he’s not even really a skater and just constantly trying to push sales on you
This wax is *okay*. It’s a bit of a stretch to call it the absolute best skate wax, but it certainly is the best wax for your money. It’s worth it, but not as godly as he says it is.
I usually don't use a lot of wax, BUT I haven't bought skate wax in years. I usually do the same thing as you and buy some bulk candle wax which lasts forever and is super cheap.
Jesus Candle (without the picture on it) is AMAZING! It's cheap and contains oil in it, so ya know, weeeee! You have to keep it in a zip lock, and you have to break the glass off at first, but it's worth it.
I've have used that wax, and it is so buttery! It's awesome but I've found it super annoying since it melts in the bag then gets super dirty and it kinda becomes a pain to deal with.
@@brannonpaulsen7608 Yup! In my teens I travel with it just skating everywhere, and yeah it would melt. I'd have a zip lock bag of soft wax and liquid. If I have some on me I keep it in a zip lock wrapped in towel in my bag, and I have to keep my bag out of the sun.
I been using gulf wax for years. IMO it is just as good if not better than the designer wax. It’s the only wax you will ever need…and yes I love wax! Better to slide out than to stick.
I disagree. That handrail gets really sticky. And if someone is going for those more advanced tricks they would definitely try some easy tricks first to test out the rail before they tried something difficult.
my issue with pure gulf wax is that it's too hard and flaky. you need to mix in some silicone oil or softer wax with it to get the perfect blend. you waxed like 100 total feet of obstacle but probably deposited only grams of wax. to really wax an obstacle you need to wear down the wax block as it rubs so it is deposited on the surface and subsequently ground in. my favorite type of wax is the ikea pillar candle.
Gulf wax used to be like a no no, idk how this blew up into something everyones praising. I knew a dude who sold wax on ebay and etsy who worked for dwindle or deluxe and knew somewhat how they made there wax, and other ways, he would take paraffin, beeswax, and sometype of oil, onetime i heard him say he used i think a bit of bearing grease or something, i was like what?? But just paraffin breaks up to easy and melts weird, and forget about candles ull have the spot smelling like some bullshit.
Please spend the money on skate wax. Don’t use candle wax cause it melts and gets all over the quarter pipes. And people hit their heads just carving around.
You’re paying for designs and special company names. 16oz/1lbs of wax is pretty expensive for 3$. My 45lb soy wax (for candles obviously) was 111$ altogether including shipping
Bodybuilding is cheap as fuck. Steroids are only expensive if you dont know what you are doing. And a gym membership is like $150 a year. I spend at lest $60a month on a new skate deck and $50on a new pair of shoes every 1.5-2 months. Neither are realy expensive hobbies for what you get
Great video! My mom put me on game with golf wax when I was in middle school I got two blocks of golf wax in my skate back pack with my skate tools and extra parts like bushings and bearings. 🤘🛹🔥

gets to the skatepark early to wax the crap out of everything, so everyone that shows up later can slip out and and die lmao
Better than getting stuck and chucked
I like his style
Better for the obstacles to be slick than sticky. If they're slick just go faster but if they're sticky they're unpredictable.

Ski wax is terrible during a hot summer. Too low of a melting temperature.

I got where you coming from but that cheap wax melts away fast on a hot ledge or any other obstacle
Yeah that’s a good point. During the summer it’s not the best.
does surf wax work??
I would say MAYBE a base coat but it’s still kind of soft.
Yes I don’t have to put a literal candle on a ledge to do flipinflipouts

what’s the wax called again?

just use a big as candle

60% paraffin wax (golf wax) + 40% bees wax, same as store bought wax
